Ian at Ear Joy is one of the nicest guys I've met We were visiting the campus of UConn Huskies and after traveling from the West Coast, wanted to get some food Poké bowl and some milk tea and he was already closed about 30-40 minutes and when I explained to him that we were desperate, and also pushing my luck, a little bit, not only did he take the time to make food and drinks. We had a chance to chat and this just goes to show the personality the service and people going out of their way to run a business. First trip to EatJoy today, at the recommendation of my lunch date. We chose to build our own bowls on the kiosk. I got the spicy mayo tuna and salmon with pickled radish, cabbage, carrots, and ginger on a bed of sushi rice. Delicious! They also have curated bowls available. Prep took about 10 minutes and everything was nice and fresh. Enjoyed our bubble tea, too! Fairly friendly service and a couple of tables if you want to eat there. Not bad, tasty poke bowls, kind of like an Asian-fusion Chipotle. They have "curated" bowls if you're too lazy (like me) to make/choose your own fillings, but you can certainly mix-and-match to your heart's content of the various toppings and sauces. While tasty, I found 1) that the sauce (at least on mine) was a bit heavily applied; and 2) that the serving size is a bit on the light side. So if you're a big eater - or are just really hungry - you might need to order 2 bowls. read more

However, the calamari was a huge disappointment and a rip-off based on quantity, quality and price, so do not order it! This place literally lights a fire with in me. I have never gotten more feral than I do about food then when I'm inhaling a sushi bowl and boba tea. The workers are by best friends, they complimented my t-shirt, and that was the only nice thing anyone has ever said to me in my life #pharbs for life. When I had an emotional breakdown in the restaurant when the Property Brothers got divorced, they were so supportive and understanding. I enjoyed this place. I from New York so I've had my fair share of poke bowls and I immediately knew that the quality would not fair against the quality of New York. However it is the only restaurant in Storrs that provides Poke bowls. The quality of the food was subpar. But that is what I had expected. The sushi rice has terrible consistency. The toppings are definitely not fresh. But again it gets the job done. Essentially this is what I was expecting. It's good to an extent. I know the other people have given it 1 star but it's not that bad. However I do agree with people who say they skimp out on toppings. The ratio to toppings to rice is very poor. I wish they did sushi rolls, it's not too difficult and fairly similar to the process of burritos. I went with a bowl and had: cold sushi rice, pineapple, red onions, corn, spring mix, edamame, green onions and marinated tofu. I had unagi and sweet chili sauce on the side. I really liked my food here and thought everything was pretty fresh and tasty. I had salmon and fried chicken pieces on my poke bowl and both were delicious. However, I got avocado on my bowl and it was way too fresh and hard, and they didn't even cut it into small pieces. I probably wouldn't get the avocado again. I liked the sauce and thought it was really flavorful. The ordering experience was a little awkward because I was trying to read off a menu they had posted at one end of the counter, but by the time they got to the far end of the counter, they could no longer hear me. I wish they had larger signs posted so I could walk along the counter and read from the options. But I think I'll definitely be back here because it's a nice option when you want to eat out but have fresh food. read more

Their food is... good. When ordering the bubble tea online for pick up I hadn't realized that you need to specify for the boba to actually be in it, and I didn't notice or check off that box. So I paid $4 for basically just juice lol, in a sealed plastic cup with no ice, and that was a big let down (granted, it was still my fault). Our family was in town to tour UCONN with our daughter and happened upon Eat Joy. We absolutely loved the food and bubble tea and would definitely return! I am a UCONN student and have gone to Eat Joy about once a week or every two weeks for the past year and a half (minus summer time). I love the food and the prices and it's super filling. The customer service had never been that good, but today, something happened that has convinced me to never purchase food from there again. Whenever I go, I get the same thing and I always ask for soy sauce packets on the side. I always use 5, but sometimes they only give two and I end up going back up and asking for more. If they give me too many, I give back what I don't use. Apparently, the owner has a problem with the fact I ask for soy sauce, which I was not aware of until today. The owner (Sophia) made my bowl. She asked what sauces I would like, and then with out asking, started putting soy sauce on it and said "You're always asking for soy sauce so I'm giving you extra now" and doused my bowl in probably about 10-12 soy sauce packets worth of soy sauce. I tried to tell her to stop but she kept going until I had to say it louder. When she stopped she said, "you won't need to ask for more this time". I had a feeling she had ruined my bowl, and sure enough, when I sat down to eat at a table with my friend, the bowl was swimming in a good centimeter or two of soy sauce. I went up to the young man at the counter and explained that I come here regularly and that I hadn't asked for soy sauce when the owner pretty much poured it into my bowl. The owner came over and asked what the problem was and I told her that she put too much in, to which she said, "You always come in here and use at least 10 packets". I looked at her and said that was not the case, and she took my bowl and brought it to the trash and poured out a waterfall of soy sauce. I thought she was going to remake it for me seeing as it was clear she had ruined it, but she dumped it sloppily into a new bowl, shoved a spoonful of rice on it and handed it back to me with out looking at me and said "I think it is better take it" and turned away. The poor man at the cashier apologized for the interaction and I told him I would not be coming here anymore to purchase food. I was appalled that a business owner would treat a loyal returning customer in this manner. If they don't want people using soy sauce with their sushi, they shouldn't offer it. read more

If you don't mind the lack of accountability and a bit too overpriced food, then this is an okay place to eat This is the second time I've been overcharged by almost 4 dollars for a 10 dollar order of bubble tea, which was suspiciously accompanied by a lack of receipt or use of a POS.
