This was a very good place to eat for Indian food. Good size portions and very nice atmosphere. Was a little expensive hence the 3 money sign , could probably be even a 4 money sign. It is an al'a cart, meaning you had to order rice with meal and. Read with meal. The staff was very nice, everyone greeted us and assisted with either food or water or just stopped by to see how everything was. They even gave us a VIP card so from now on when we go there we will get at least a 20% discount. read more

Athough parking nearby can be a problem this Indian restaurant is well worth a visit. The menu is extensive, the food is superb and the staff are extremely friendly. Prices are a little above those at other similar establishments but you only pay for what you get and the Eastern Eye management have got it right! read more

To be fair, the food here looked great; it was a sour experience with the manager that left a bad taste in our mouths. The place was moderately full on a Monday night, which surely also says something about the quality of the eating. We would really have liked to eat here, but after thirty minutes of waiting for our order to be taken while everyone around us was served, we were worried about our car park ticket expiring and wanted to leave. We got up to pay for the pappadums we ate and were asked by the manager if everything was OK. I said that, unfortunately, we hadn't received any service, and we were worried about getting a parking ticket, so we had to leave. The manager apologized and explained that they were a bit shortstaffed because the waiters had all gone on their lunch breaks at sunset, due to Ramadan. That seemed reasonable enough to me, but we still had to get going because of the parking. The manager continued explaining that they were a very good restaurant, that they had the ability to seat 100 people at a time, that their service is usually very good - all fine, but we still had to go, and reiterated that quietly and politely, since we could be seen paying early in front of other customers. We were just getting our change from the hostess when the manager came back up to me and said quietly that he hoped God blessed us because this was a very bad time for us to be leaving the restaurant, as the streets are unsafe after dark, and we might get hurt since we were choosing to leave. It was downright menacing! Up to that point, I'd been disappointed that we were having to leave; now, I'm happy we did! In summary: Food could be a five? Great food, good portion sizes... Service can be a bit slow at times. The walls are covered with what looks like PG-rated scenes from the Kama Sutra. It can get loud, as it's a small place, but never had a bad meal here. read more

Really nice place, staff friendly, however felt a little boxed in with not much space - think the food was really good - although when it says hot they mean hot!! I thought the waiting area at the front if busy inside was very good - and got you to look at the menu before you actually went in. read more

went for a meal as a group of 10. restaurant appealing to the eyes and very clean. when taken to the table seemed to be limited space but there was enough room. my starter king butterfly prawn was a bit dry on the outside and could have been accompanied with a sauce the prawn was cooked lovel. my main dish was very good and tasty. a disappointment was the staff were hanging around to see if u had finished and started taking plates away before others had finished. the staff were very prompt with the orders and didnt have to wait a long time. nice finish with the after dinner drink, chocolate and hot towel. i would visit here again. read more

Having visited many Indian restaurants in Plymouth, I accidentally came across the Eastern Eye Indian Restaurant at Notte Street in Plymouth. The price reflects the quality of service and the outstanding food that is presented to you in the most friendliest Indian restaurant I have come across. The staff are all friendly, eager to please and advise you on selected dishes to your requirements. I have never yet had the need to not recommend the Eastern Eye restaurant to anyone. TRY IT and you will not be disappointed. The decoration is outstanding, Kalam designed it himself with the help of an outstanding local building firm. I am a very long term customer of the Eastern Eye and I am a huge fan of theirs. They have always been more expensive than competitors but their fantastic food reflected this. Recently though, I feel that the the expense is getting too high, It's now around £10 for a main meal, before rice etc. Five stars to Callum for the food and service but three stars to the price. read more

Very disappointed! The main course (Pathia Chicken Special) was very harsh in flavour (poor balance of sweet & sour) and with hard over-cooked chicken "lumps". The waiter asked me if I was enjoying my meal - I said "well actually no" and told him why...then he tried to blame me for picking the wrong dish and not asking for advice!! It was nothing to do with "advice" - I've been eating in Indian restaurants since the 70s. This was a poor "pub style" curry at at 3x the price (£13 for curry and rice!!). Poor food / over-priced / bad attitude. I will never go back here. read more
