Went here Friday night with some friends, was my first time going. I loved the set up of their beer wall with the numbered beer tap handles. It made it convenient to order as you could pick your beer while waiting in line. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the wait at the bar was often a little long. I might have just caught them on a very busy night, as it looked like the bar was properly staffed. The outside patio is excellent, and has a convenient gate to the food truck area right behind east side bar. Would definitely go back here to try more beers and hang on the patio. read more

I am leaving the original post so you can see from my update how good customer service and good management are still alive and well. I ordered a facemask to support our local Eastside Bar. It looks nothing like the one on the online website. I am happy to support a local business in hard times or just in general but if you're going to offer something up claiming it is a facemask it should be as advertised. This was one of your t- shirts cut out around the logo with some slits cut in the fabric for ear slots. Advertise it for what it is, don't do something like this. You all are better than that. Everyone here is super nice, always. They have beer we like, always. They have a huge selection, but also a good variety. It's not just for people who love IPAs - they have plenty to choose from. It can get crowded, and on days that are hot or cold, it can be a challenge to find a comfortable place to sit. That said, when the weather is nice, all I want to do is go to East Side. We love to go for pint nights and events they have, and enjoy the food trucks. Sometimes, it's not clear whether you can take beer to the food truck area or not, but the trucks are always great! We bring friends who are beer snobs, friends who drink wine, friends who drink Miller Lite, and people who like lighter craft beers. Everyone always finds something they love! The vibe here is always relaxed, and the crowd is mixed in terms of age. Everyone feels at home here, and we always have a good time! I wish there were more chairs than benches, so that everyone could sit comfortably, and I wish they had more effective heaters so that the outside could be remotely comfortable on cool evenings. read more

They have a really impressively curated selection of whiskeys - including some pretty highly regarded and hard to find boutique bourbons and scotch. All that to go along with what's obviously a good selection of microbrews and craft beers. The staff working the bar is very friendly and attentive, they never you leave you hanging with your elbows on the bar hoping to make eye contact and get their attention. I'm not often in Denton, but I'll make an effort to drop in for a bourbon or two at East Side from now on. My only complaint is their ice. It's the typical cheap stuff from an ice maker - which melts extremely fast and waters down your whiskey almost immediately. If they switched to ice spheres or at least deep frozen ice cubes it'd be a much appreciated improvement. Until then I'd order the whiskey neat. read more

Another great bar in Denton! It's hard to beat a beautiful day on a patio with a good drink in your hand. East side has a huge patio with numerous picnic tables and lots of space. They even have many heaters for when it's cold. Maybe the best part is that you can bring your furry friends or meet some new furry friends. Every time we have been there we have met multiple dogs! Also they usually have a food truck or two right by the patio. They have an extremely large amount of draft beer, most are craft and specialty beers. Great selection! They also do mixed drinks and they are made well. Prices are pretty good and the bartenders are usually very friendly. They do seem to have a more college crowd than most of the other Denton bars. This makes me feel a little old, but I guess that time has come. East side is one of the many fun denton bars and you should go check it out. read more

East Side is my favorite bar to hang at in Denton. Laid back spot with plenty of outdoor seating. Pet-friendly for all the dog lovers. A huge selection of beverages on tap to choose from!!! You can always find a food truck or two parked in the back to grab food while you chill and drink. read more

This is my favorite place to hang out at in Denton! They have a huge selection of draft beers and a full bar. The patio/ yard is huge and really nice. They have food trucks and it is dog friendly. Amazing beer selection, great atmosphere. Was completely turned off by the bartender when I asked for a sip of the beer I thought I might like and he wanted to charge me for a sampler glass. First staff here is friendly except for a select few. We came here to have lunch and drinks past Saturday! My husband is American born and 1/2 Japanese so he is obviously a big Asian looking man. He walked back and forth I had my mask on and he did place his on his face while walking outside to grab our food. He was asked twice to place his mask then sat down to eat and order drinks. We noticed a group of clean cut , perfectly pressed Caucasian men not having masks while walking about but saw no attempt by the team to warn them about not having masks on! 3rd time he got up to grab something for our food , he sat and got his 1/2 full drink removed for his 3rd wanting!! When we asked about the others they claimed everyone else was following the rules and I later called spoke to on site manager , he did not apologize and stood there was no bias! You decide? I came here for my 20 year reunion. It was extremely packed, but the bartenders and the wait staff were able to keep up with the high demand. I'm more of a wine drinker and the selection for wines were very limited, so they were very helpful in helping me selecting a beer. I think the really cool thing is the food trucks behind the building. There are many choices with pizza, sandwiches, Thai, and tacos. It was fun going to the different trucks and trying a little from each one. All the choices were yummy! It is different concept and it was a fun evening! read more

East Side is another fantastic addition to the Oak Street family. They definitely don't have the "usual draft beer selections", I think 89 taps is more than enough to satisfy even the pickiest of beer fanatics. I even found a cider that I liked! #59, but that's all I could tell you. I can't say much for the bourban collection as I don't really drink it, but I'll suck it up one of these days. Those who did were in awe, so there's that. There's a actual covered patio with booths (I LOVE BOOTHS SO MUCH, AUUGHH) and the yard is plenty spacious. The tap wall is beautiful, I could stare at it for hours. I'm sure the inside is going to get a little more love as time goes on, just like my beloved OSDH&CP did. Also, food trucks. Yes. More. The people here are total assholes. Passive agressive and so rude. The security guard ripped my friends shirt because he didnt know he coulsnt go out the front and drink. Also during oaktopia, several people obviously with 21 and up wristbands were not allowed into the food truck area, which is already dumb... Check it out check it out check it out, Denton has a new bar! Now i normally wouldn't get excited about another bar in Denton, but this place specializes in not only craft beers, but an excellent selection of whiskeys! I was a bit worried about checking this place out on the first opening weekend. While i didn't have to wait in line that night i have before...it's nothing to complain about at all. A friend pointed out something that i thought was very smart, they did not put their beer list right in front of the bar. They instead put the list on two TVs making it easier to order a beer without someone trying to choose at the last minute. The beer selection is nothing short of amazing. While i would like to say the whiskey list is amazing it doesn't quite hit that mark. It is very very impressive to have that many different whiskeys to choose from and would make any drinker very happy. But with that being noted there wasn't anything on the list that i felt like was "special" or extremely high end. Don't take that as a knock on their selection as i feel it has gone above and beyond what i would have ever thought to have in Denton. Great job ESSC. Staff as you might have expected(most of the same people form Oak St) were great and always helpful. The place itself looks great! I was extremely impressed with the outside area. It seems like the perfect mix of open space and tables, nothing too crowded. The only really complaint i have is the inside. Where are all the tables, the space inside feels awkwardly open. You have tons of space to add a few more booths and bar height tables! Check this place out the first chance you get, i feel it appeals to a wide group of people and with a bit of time will carve it's own style into Denton. read more

FINALLY got to check this place out. I'm a huge OSDH&CP girl and I had been putting off visiting here because I was under the impression it was more of a sports bar and I thought the TVs would be more obnoxious. I actually really love that OSDH&CP has no TVs. LOVE. And the non-smoking thing. (East Side is non-smoking as well. MUUUAAAH.) But who cares about the TVs, East Side has what matters--quality and rockin' knowledgeable bartenders. My usual "I dig IPAs, what can you recommend?" was met with far more detailed follow-up questions than I knew how to answer--there is a ton here to parse down and it's a crime to order the same thing twice. Our bartender was Kale and everything served up was a knock-out. Not only was he incredibly well versed in all things beer/processing/quality/you name it, he made sure to offer up samples for comparison and making sure he was on the right track. I noticed previous comments bemoaning the size of the outside area and also the bourbon/whiskey selection. Maybe things have changed, but there is currently a veritable WALL of whiskey/bourbon and I saw several of my faves and ones I hadn't before. (Miles may be right about not having anything extremely high-end or special, however, I can't speak to that aspect yet.) The outside area is obviously not anywhere near as large as OSDH&CP but it's still cute in its own right and I look forward to nicer weather. And I wouldn't categorize this as a "sports bar," in the slightest. It's quite different from OSDH&CP and has its own personality, which I can't quite put my finger on yet but I completely dig this place and its patrons. Bonus points also for the wicked clean bathrooms complete with fresh flowers--oh the charm of the right details! Looking forward to returning ASAP. read more

East Side's bartenders put all other bartenders to shame. They're super friendly and helpful but most of all they are efficient and I've never had to wait long to get a drink or service even when it is completely packed. Seriously, they are amazing. And even for a 'beer bar' you can still get a decent cocktail made. The other thing amazing here is the beer and whiskey selection. 100 taps of pure nectar and too many bottles of whiskey to count. They also frequently have special tappings, parties, and etc. which help keep everything fresh. There is a focus on Texas and local breweries as well which is really great. Behind the bar is an amazing patio and the Austin St. Food Truck spot, putting East Side in the best location in Denton, and making it my favorite bar. read more

If you tend to gravitate toward men that have beards that remind you to restring your acoustic before band practice, attend this bar. If you love looking at females that take two seasons from forever 21 and mix them together, then wear tights and pumps (you heard me right, pumps, not to be confused with heels) then this place is for you. Other than the obvious eye candy to some, this is your typical college bar. Service was good, not fabulous, but decent. The beer taps behind the bar do not have any names, every tap looks the same so it leads the mind to wander into territory of doubt. Unless you have a palate that is ever so sharp for beer, who really knows if the locally brewed ale they just pulled for you is not just Coors light? There was a good size group of us. We all appreciate and can hang with just about anyone, regardless of the fact that none of us are in college anymore. We all work hard, make good livings, and when we can we like to party. So when we go out to have a good time, we will tip generously and do not skimp on our orders. But we expect good service. That being said, when one of the bar's regular loud mouth females starts mouthing off for no good reason to a lady in our group, you throw her out. When you have more than 5 people telling the Dusty Hill wannabe bar back that the fatty mcdaniels who likely spends all her time there by the looks of her beer abs, started it, you tend to side on e majority rules factor right? Pet-friendly, spacious patio with outdoor seating and televisions... Sure, the selection of booze is impressive and reasonably priced, but these days, I'm far more likely to enjoy a good patio as much as a good brew. This place is identical to Oak Street Drafthouse in terms of outdoor seating. Clientele is slightly older, and has fewer undergraduates running amuck. Also, less broody hipsters and more diverse of a crowd. Granted, I have a soft spot for hipsters. read more

East Side has become my Cheers, essentially. While I'm not a huge drinker, I'd prefer to come here when I need to sip on something delicious. A massive menu of drafts stands in the middle of the floor, and has drinkers of young and old gawking at it. With so many choices, just over 80 I think, most people can get a little intimidated and maybe overwhelmed with all of these choices. Fret not! If you're not feeling a beer, East Side's team can set you up with some great cocktails; From my experience, they make a mean Snakebite. And for you veterans, East Side offers 40+ types of bourbon&Whiskey. While those aren't my thing all the time, it's nice to have available. They frequently have 'draft takeovers' by various breweries and feature new drinks regularly, you really can't get bored when you come here. The patio is welcoming and resonates nothing but good vibes from the moment you step out. A couple of big TVs available to watch whatever game is on, allowing you to cheer or sigh in large groups. The patio is dog friendly too, so be aware of that. There will be dogs on any given night. The service at the bar has always been great, which is hard to find sometimes in Denton. Even on the busiest of nights, East Side has the right amount of beards behind the bar, ready to give you their advice on drinks most of us may not have heard of . East Side is very heavily involved with the it's community and I appreciate that the most about them. Right beyond the gate of the patio is a driveway various food trucks to set up shop and satisfy our late night hunger. I can easily say, East Side is my favorite place to go in Denton. read more

Well, time for another bar in Denton! I have read some of the other reviews on this bar and want to comment towards those as well. First of all, the beer selection here is awesome. There are some good ones and some interesting ones, such as a jalapeño beer and a mint IPA. There are your standard fare pilsners, bocks, but a good selection of nitro beers as well. Now you will not find a standard Bud Light on tap, but there I no reason for it, there is something that you will find that will be much better than that. Second, the selection of whiskeys, bourbons, and Scotch were a bit limited, but I am seeing that more are coming. They have new and interesting ones coming in and with a new bar it is a try and rotate out to figure what works and what doesn't. But you can find something that will work for what you are looking for. Third, I do have to agree that the middle of the bar seems to be empty, but on a busy night, that changes, people are standing and it does tend to get tight in there. They are trying to leave room for people to order and not have tables that pack up the area. So it is a bit odd but functional. Fourth, I like the non smoking, I hope other bars see this and somewhat take notice, this place packs the house and it is non smoking. I like to NOT smell like an ashtray when I leave a place, that has been a big thing of why I do not go to certain places any more. This allows me to breathe. Smoke outside, that is fine, I can deal with that, but inside gets all nasty and disgusting. Finally, I know that it is not OSDH, but I like that, I can come here and watch a game or hang out, where at OSDH is a different kind of atmosphere to have a conversation with a good beer. It's been a while since I've gone out to a bar. It had been so long that I hadn't even been to East Side Social Club until yesterday afternoon. Heresy, I know. I started a low carb regimen several months back, so I haven't been as adventurous with dining and drinking as I once was. I was catching up with an old friend and we decided to have a drink. East Side was fairly empty around 4:30pm, which made it pretty easy to find a spot to sit. The porch area was nice and shady. We talked for over an hour and didn't have any weird interruptions - something of a treat when you're at a bar in a college town. The bartender was friendly enough. I have to forgo the massive selection of beer and opt for a Hendricks and soda with lime. It wasn't a very strong drink and the lime slice was more of a small chunk. All in all, I'd prefer to go to Paschall's for a G&T after all this time. Assuming you can drink any of the craft & local beer, however, you'll be fine. John Williams knows how to make a bar and he's as nice as can be. I'll still go to Oak and East Side because he's someone who deserves my money. read more

Visited some friends in Denton at this joint and it was a nice experience... 85 beers on draft and they are listed with alcohol content;) bartenders extremely good and friendly. Food trucks out back and the service from them was equally as good as the bartenders. Nice crowd of people and a very good vibe. It amazes me how a little dive like this with a young staff puts out such great service and you vine to Dallas and hit Henderson Ave bars and restaurants and the service is tolerable at best. I love the beer selection here, but I felt it was missing SOMETHING from gaining my 5th star. It feels a little cold/devoid of the charm and character you'd expect from a Denton bar. Having TVs here is nice, but if there's no game on I'd much rather be over at OSDH&CP. It was also EXTEREMELY hot when I came and really wish there were some misters or something outside. I don't frequent Denton too much these days, but my brother told me they have a cool new spot, so on a visit, we went. Denton has stepped up in the bar scene since I was a student. East Side Social Club isn't your local dive. It is spot that would rival or compete with anything Dallas has to offer. They 100 beers with plenty of local selections. I wasn't too enthused at first because I am not a beer drinker, but I do love a high end bourbon. They have a larger selection of bourbons than anywhere in Dallas, and I know the Dallas scene well. What is even more amazing is the price. I had a Jefferson Reserve 21 year old which a bottle cost around $125 and they sold me pour at $10! Any place in Dallas that would have cost a minimum of $25 a pour. Can't beat that! The scene wasn't so much college as recent grads probably, late 20 year-olds, early 30 year olds. There is indoor and our door seating, but my only complaint is they could add some more indoor seating. The scene is simple but classy. Can't beat this spot! read more

This place was really cool. They have an unbelievable selection of beers. Beers from all over the world that you have never heard of. And all on tap. It's quite an impressive display of taps that you just have to see. Check out Justin W's pic on Yelp. Came here with a bunch of friends to watch the NBA playoffs. They have a HUGE open yard/patio with a bunch of picnic tables outside where you can sit and watch big huge TV's that are located up by the wall of the bar. It's almost like a modern day unique drive in theater experience, except you are drinking beer and watching sports. Usually packed with lots of happy people. Great time. Came here to celebrate christmas with some friends. They're open on christmas. They offer a rather low key bar. Their menu for beers on tap is massive! Some of my favorites were the jaberwonk (IBU 114) ipa, and the Noel Jolly pumpkin from Michigan. If you're not a beer enthusiast they offer lots of top shelf liquor as well that can be hard to find; at least what my friend had told me. Overall, the bartenders here are excellent. They were all very friendly and quick to help out. They have an awesome patio here in which dogs are welcome! Probably on leash though. I know this from seeing a dog hanging out with it's owner there as well. On Christmas, the bar was an eccletic mix. They offer some large screen tv's near the bar to catch up on your Sportscenter highlights, etc while hanging out. Their darts board is some of the better dart boards i've got to play with around denton. The actual darts are a little cheap though. So if you must bring your own darts! To get the darts you have to keep your Id for collateral. read more

This place is excellent. Great atmosphere and amazing beer and whiskey selections. The outdoor area is very enjoyable. I actually enjoyed the beer selection more than Oak Street which is saying something (and yes I am aware this is Oak Street's sister bar). Different enough from Oak Street Draft House to be as close as it is to it. Seems to appeal to those with slightly more money than Oak Street. Young professionals. Kind of a Rainy Street feel.
