I was really excited about taking some french courses, but on the whole I had a negative experience…read morehere. I did their placement test and was put in the second to lowest level, but after the first course realized it was far too difficult for me. (Of note, I requested a downgrade in level after the first class, and they said no. At first I was flattered, but in the end that was very problematic. I never learned the basics or had any confidence under me) The courses are 100% in french, which is really stressful when you have poor vocabulary. You simply can't understand what's being taught a good deal of the time. I know the immersion is good in some ways, but at an hour once a week it was a negative in my case. The textbooks are god awful to my mind (Alter Ego). They are a jumble of pictures and excercises that are quite abstract. You sit down with an hour to do homework, and it takes 3 times longer because it's a research project to even understand the questions or scenarios that they're based on. In their defense, I became overwhelmed and frustrated pretty early on and that just made things worse. I dreaded opening that textbook and did my homework last minute. I would have to say that some of my problems were my lack of patience with the learning materials. The teachers were knowledgeable, but a bit impatient with my lack of understanding what they were trying to teach to me about french...but IN french that I didn't know yet. It was frustrating all around. You will spend a lot of energy trying to comprehend the classes, and loads of time on google translator trying to decipher the textbook. If you're of the school of thought that the best way to learn to swim is to get thrown in the deep end, this is a good choice. I needed more fundamentals to tread water in that environment and felt that everything they were teaching was just out of reach to me. UPDATE After I wrote them a short letter explaining that I wouldn't be attending classes anymore due to it being beyond my level (and I didn't request a refund), they offered me another class of my choosing free of charge. I respect and appreciate that from a business and added a star I didn't mean to put the school down, just the textbook (which they didn't write) and that immersion might not be ideal for once a week students.

Université Sainte-Anne offers the only higher education Francophone campus in the province. The Halifax office offers outreach and part-time courses, appealing to adult learners. It also offers private courses, which - among others - is contracted to various federal government locations in the city. I've taken an enrichment course that was offered to the federal government and I have to say it didn't compare to a similar course I took at a language school. I was expecting exercises and developmental work. Instead, we focused almost exclusively on conversational French. Don't get me wrong - I can always use practice, but I was really hoping for more of a refresher course in grammar and verbs. However, I've spoke with others who have been in similar courses, and they've all been very happy with their experience. It's possible that my course was a one-off, of course, but it definitely soured me on future courses of that type. The bottom line is that Université Sainte-Anne offers one of the few French first-language learning opportunities.

My school made the decision to call the mobile crisis line to get peace officers to come and do wellness checks on me daily sometimes multiple times a day for multiple days. The police and peace officers were extremly well trained to do their jobs. They invited me to church with them and ensured my well being was good. They came with 8 peace officers and involuntarily took me against my will to the emergency room and forcefully medicated me. They sat by my side, fed me snacks and talked to me for over 12 hours until I was admitted to the emergency room. I finally given psych treatment that I needed for over 3 years. The police and peace officers that Dal contacted actually advocated for me to get a TON of resources including assisted living, a work program for people with disabilities, psych nurses to come to my home weekly to check in on me and unlimited food. I am forever grateful for their decision to contact the peace officers to involuntarily admitted me into the psych unit because multiple professionals refused to get me treatment in the past for years and I got brain damage because of it. I thank God everyday for this school getting me the treatment and resources that I needed to survive and reach my full potential. Sadly I had to leave school due to my acute psychosis and brain damage but I will be forever grateful for them advocating for me to get the resources that I needed to survive and thrive.

My college, the school of health and human performance, on campus was falling apart and reeked of dead rats. My residence was filled with asbestos and I would hazard to guess that proper precautions were not taken during renovations. Please, please go elsewhere. Any scholarship they offer you is simply a ploy to take more courses. Don't fall for Dalhousie's garbage. If I could rate this less than 1 star, I would.

i recently had a fantastic experience at ict northumberland. from the moment i walked in, it felt…read morewarm and welcoming. the students and instructors there were really skilled. my therapist was a student and gave me an amazing massage. they made sure i was comfortable and relaxed. their technique was both relaxing and therapeutic, showing they had great training at the school. the clinic instructors supervised the students actively, making sure the massage was safe and effective. the place was clean and peaceful, adding to the experience. i left ict feeling refreshed, with all my stress gone. (: if you want a great massage, i highly recommend this clinic. they not only provide excellent care but also support the future of massage therapy. i'm thankful for this wonderful experience and will definitely return. thank you

This school is extremely disorganized and has failed as a whole. In the PECCA program they have not…read morearranged placements and have failed to contact facilities. They give classes several instructors because they do not plan out availability as they push through cases roughly every month. I would never recommend this school to anyone and highly suggest you apply to nscc or another school as this will not benefit your learning.
