The food here is so awesome! I again almost forgot to take a picture of my sandwich because I was so excited to dig in lol. I tried three sandwiches so far, the Cubano is my fave at the moment. Decided to finally try this sandwich shop! Recommended by coworkers for awhile but kept missing the closing time (1700). We ordered 3 sandwiches and an unsweetened green iced tea. My dad got the beef brisket and loved it. My husband got the Cubano and he enjoyed it also. My mom got their pastrami and she liked it also. ok, so after hearing so much about Earl from friends I decided to give it a try knowing that it was a little more expensive than the other sandwich shops. The first thing I noticed was that there menu was limited and they only sell 6" subs unless you want an 12" Italian sub. I purchased the Italian sub and it was the worst sub I ever had, It had little meat, lots of hot pepper, the cheese was cut into small cubes. The place was dirty, paint coming off the walls with no decorations just a small box unappealing unwelcoming place. Our sandwiches were wrapped up neatly. Tried the French Dip and Beer Braised Brisket. These sandwiches are beyond delicious! The bread was toasty on the outside and soft within. The ingredients they use are of high quality. The meats are so tender and flavorful. The French Dip is made up of striploin, chimichurri, roasted garlic mayo, fennel onion marmalade, and pepper jack. Perfection! The Beer Braised Brisket is made up of brisket, horseradish mayo, roasted green chilis, pickled onions and cheddar cheese. It comes with a side of stout au jus. Talk about a next level sandwich!!! If youre looking for something with more personality and flavor than your neighborhood Subway this is your spot. Making the gourmet sandwich are these guys specialty. I had the French dip, not gonna lie im a sucker for dipping and sauces, and this sandwich had both. First of all their prime rib was loaded with juice so much you can enjoy it without the au jus. They also had a chimichurri which gave a nice herb-y zing. The au jus was just right for this sandwich as well as it was not over powering and gave just the right amount of flavor to give your taste buds that satisfied finish. I also went with the combo choosing their Lilikoi Lemonade! Sooooo amazing, if you like your lemonade a little on the sour side you have to try it. Earl Kaimuki moved to the Kapahulu area in Market City. I love that they added mobile order because that's been my jam in this pandemic and probably even before that when select places offered it. Their sandwiches are just as good as I remember if not even better! I got the Drew and the husband got a cubano. The Drew had thin slices of pastrami that had a nice char to the edges and bits of fat intermixed with lean meat. There's a nice kick to offset all the fatty goodness which comes from the whole grain mustard and the horseradish mayo. To round out the rest of the sandwich is a bit of tomato and of course pickles. I love the way the bread is crisp on the outside but still soft in the middle. The cubano had a good press which makes it the signature sandwich that it is. There's a good bit of meat and a nice mix of juicy pork and some salty thin sliced ham finished off with roasted garlic dijonaise, Swiss, and yummy pickles. They have a fryer now which means fried chicken and fries!!! We tried their new chicken box and don't let the price scare you off because everything is homemade and the portion is pretty fair. We got the original chicken and it was moist on the inside and crisp on the outside just like a fried chicken should be. The Earl sauce was a great compliment and gave Raising Cane's vibes but this was better. I tried a side of their hot honey and that could be way spicier as the spice hits after several seconds and doesn't last very long. The house-made ketchup is delicious (they charge for extra sauce including ketchup btw). I saw they have burgers now too which looked pretty delicious and over the top (pastrami, duh). I've been to a handful of other sandwich shops on the island and I have to say I like this one the best. My food and drink bestie says I have a high bar for veggie meals--and a veggie meal here doesn't disappoint. I'm told the meat-filled sandwiches are substantial and yummy too. I have been to the other EARL in Kakaako once and didn't feel it was exceptionally good. The wait, service and contents of the sandwich may have been a bit early in maturity (we went during the early pandemic months). This EARL made the same sandwich so much better! Parking is available in the lot or on the street (paid/meter). Masks are required in the store and staff follows those guidelines. We never felt unsafe even with the steady flow of orders/customers and the wait. So I'm a fan of the Kaimuki EARL and the Fun Goat sandwich for sure--and this coming from a big salad eater. Also a fan of the neat sandwich names, the guava iced tea (not too sweet, just right--I tasted fruit flavor and tea), and chips of course! I was very disappointed in the smallest sub sandwich I've ever had in my life! 1st time there n the last.

Earls always comes through for my sandwich cravings! Food: I usually get (basically only get) The Drew. A mound of pastrami with sauces and most importantly, tomato jam. Tho this time idk, I got some kind of marmalade? I always ask for extra marmalade/jam because the sweetness helps balance the saltiness from the meat/pickle/mustard. The marmalade this time wasn't too sweet, which was kind of junk but the sandwich was still delicious nonetheless. I haven't tried their other sandwiches, but my friend who isn't much of a meat eater got their Avocado Bhan mi (I think that's what its called), no meat, but she really enjoyed it. Speed: Went on a Sunday morning within an hour of their opening. It wasn't too busy, maybe 15~20 min for the sandwich but it was worth it. Service is usually nice, I've never had an issue. One of my top favorite sandwich places in hawaii!! This place is so delicious!! They know how to match the ingredients to make a whole new flavor. Even their appetizers are on point. I love the caprese and avocado toast. They also have drinks which is lemonade with flavored syrups. Not bad but I like to ask for a little extra syrup. I've been going to earls since they were just a small shop in Kaimuki with only a few sandwiches on their chalk board. I've loved them for years. From highschool through out my college experience and until now. I love their French dip but for some reason they decided to get rid of it. Honestly it was the only sandwich that was worth going back for over and over again. People even raved about it and they made a French dip 2.0 for a special! But now I don't know why they removed it and the workers say it's just gone. So I'm disappointed. Before saying I should try something new, I've tried a multitude of their other sandwiches but the only sandwich that got me thinking about them when it's been awhile and wanting to go back was that garlicky French dip. Their sandwiches are decent but the most recent special was a dry nasty mess. That's fine but the fries are the major issue. I've been a very regular customer of this place for a while and their fries are always what has been bringing me back. But it honestly feels that the fries tell a story of this place falling off. Their waffle fries used to be so fresh and crispy golden brown but then one day it just suddenly changes to yellow, soft but somewhat crispy waffle fries. Their quantity has never been an issue they always used a big box and LOADED up the fries almost to full capacity. Now they use some small tray barely larger than the length of my phone and a height shorter than a driver's license. CHARGING THE SAME PRICE. I've always loved EARL's sandwiches since moving to Oahu. Recently went to this location after a while and the food is still as delicious as I remember. I ordered the Avocado Bahn Mi, which according to the pictures, might not be as popular of a choice but I'm trying to eat a little less meat these days Anyways, it was amazing! The bread was perfectly toasted and the sauce in the sandwich packed a good punch but wasn't overwhelming. They topped it with pickled radish and picked carrots - a nice little touch to the sandwich! I opted for a meal which includes chips and a drink - I went with their house sweet tea! Haven't had sweet tea since living in the south a few years ago so I loved it! Saw this restaurant featured on Guy Hagi's 'Cheap Eats' and I was excited to try it out, especially since they seem to have what looks like the old style pastrami sandwich ; thinly sliced pastrami with lots of fat and greasy! With help from the very pleasant, courteous and helpful order taker/cashier I ordered "the Drew" sandwich, which has pastrami, swiss cheese, regular mayo, pickle & tomato. My Aunt also ordered "the Drew", hers almost exactly as mine but with mustard and no pickle. Although, the sandwiches looked phenomenal, the pastrami meat was a bit salty, turning my Aunt's and my excitement to disappointment! We also ordered 1 order of their "waffle fries" extra crispy; boy you get what you order because the fries were excellently crispy! And my Aunt ordered the "Plantation Iced Tea" while I ordered the Guava Green Tea, of which, both tasted great and was quite refreshing for the hot day we were having! All-in-all, I would give this place my personal 3 1/2 Shaka rating but cannot give half points so it falls back to a 3-rating because the saltiness was real bummer! read more

Found other reasons to be in the area and knew today was the day! We found street parking in front of the community park (25 cents will get you 10 min) and walked over to 11th street to find Earls. It was a little tricky as it's located behind the building, on the parking lot side. Like many of the Kaimuki buildings, this one is full of old school charm. Somehow, I ended up ordering a salad?!?! I'm still not sure how that happened. But it was delicious and fairly priced at $8. I certainly felt full.
