Despite being right outside the door, I was unable to Check In (hmm)…read more First visit here in 3 years, 4 days (LoL; I usually use InstaCart for groceries). Today's visit was to try their Fried Chicken (not many reviews to be found, and the few weren't about this store. So, fingers Xed), and get some beer (having pizza for dinner tonight; yum). Though, this is the first time that I'm having my go-to beer in this type of container. While they had everything I needed, the staff wasn't as friendly as my last visit. And, the chicken, at $15.99/8 pieces, is, imo, on the expensive side. They do sell a lot of it, as there was 2 large, heaping, trays of it. Will update the review for both on the 4th (already have potato salad, mac & cheese, biscuits and baked beans on hand), or there abouts.

I have not been that way in some time and today my sister brought me chicken from there. It was just as I remembered, tender, completely cooked and not over cooked and tasted like home cooked. Time to restock my beer supply…read more Whilt, they had 1, 6 pack of my go-to choice, Miller Lite in the Bottle (not the first time that they've been low, or out of it), unfortunately, it was marked, DO NOT SELL. Pending pickup by Customer (though, knowing this, I'll try it, as it's cheaper than using InstaCart). And, rather than going with my alternative beer, Coors Light, I decided to give, Bush Light in the Bottle, a try. However, upon the cashier trying to ring it up, it wasn't in the system. So, there was about a 3 minute delay, while the clerk had to look it up, and enter the price manually. It's been ages (40+ years) since I've had a Bush beer. And, I believe, this will be my first time drinking Bush Light. So, definitely hoping it is comparable to my preferred ones (fingers Xed).

While I was only here for topping off my tank, I did notice one thing that really didn't sit well…read morewith me. When I went inside to put the cash down for the gas, there were a bunch of those plastic shipping & storage containers that these stores use when deliveries are made, lined up against the counter. And, they were stacked to the top edge of the counter. In addition, after pumping gas, I went back inside to get my change. Well, I told the clerk, Change on 1, and a receipt. Also, just give me the bills, and pay the change forward (was .32 cents; not a lot. But, I'm avoiding having loose change. Well, not only did he go to give me all the change, he didn't give me a receipt. So, when he tried to get it, he couldn't (now I don't need it for taxes. But, I do track my expenses + using the receipt for points). Luckily, he was able to print another receipt that he gave me. Don't ask me why, butl, I got a feeling of dirtyness in the place. At least I was there just for fuel. And, not food.

Back then that was the first time in my life I had seen a beer cave in a convenience store and I was super impressed. Now of days I see them all the time, but was the Hop-In the first to start these awesome caves? Probably not; but it was my first beer cave experience. The staff here is usually friendly and gas prices are in live with other convenience stores in town.

Even before I turned 21 I was able to go into Roc's and pick up some beer or a bottle of booze; not that I had an ID, but for the fact that times were different back then and if you could get someone to vouch that you were of age then you were of age. Anyway we'd hit up Roc's once a week for some booze and enjoy a few cocktails before heading downtown where the action was at. But times have changed since my younger days. Roc no longer owns Roc's, the prices aren't that great, selection is ok, and quite frankly my palate for alcohol has improved.

Still, despite being indicated as being Closed, and I can't Check In, I'm posting this new review…read morefor my visit today, as I had run out of beer. And, to pick up some Honey Roasted Cashews. Yum. When I walked in (new photos showing the, OPEN sign, and part of the interior), there was a different cashier on duty. And, she turned out to be the Manager. So, hopefully, she'll tell Yelp that they're Open. Today, I noticed that their shelves were stocked better than last time. So, that's great news. When I told her my favorite beer, it turns out that their associated, and next door, store, Tiger's Bottle Shop (separate review forthcoming), is a Beer and Liquors store. And, had the beer that I like! So, really good news, as I no longer have to rely on InstaCart for beer delivery (save money, too). And, because TsBS didn't have any Honey Roasted Cashews, the Manger of TsM&G, walked back to the store, and brought over a few packets of them. Both cashiers were really nice, which made shopping there a pleasure.
