AVOID THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COSTS!!!!…read more The only reason I am giving one star is the professors. Majority of the professors are amazing and really do want you to succeed. However, I would be giving 0 stars if I could. The bad most definitely outweighs the good. This is one of the most if not the most expensive school in Utah, and they run more like a business than a school. They could not care less about their students. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and lack a basic respect for their students. It has gotten worse and worse every semester. Financial aid is terrible, they don't reach out to you until it is past due and then act like it's your fault when in reality, we had no idea until they messaged us. Then they will call and email you religiously (even while you are in class) until you get them their money. On top of this, they only work with 2 student loan lenders. These lenders are also terrible - rarely approves an application. Moving on, despite the large cost to attend here, none of your money goes to your education. You have to constantly pretend to do skills and reuse equipment, which half the time doesn't even work how it is supposed to because it has been used so much. Next, administration 100% has favorites and doesn't even try to hide it. Certain people get excused and are the exception to the rule while others don't even get a second chance. Some students can be late to our biggest testing day of 9th semester (the semester just before graduation) and it just slides by while others are in the hospital for an emergency and are denied to zoom call into class. In the academic catalog it states that if you are missing class for a medical reason, getting a doctor's note will excuse it, so I got a doctor's note one time and the dean tried to pry into my personal protected private health information, and broke HIPAA and FERPA by asking. Then when I mentioned that to her, she responded with I understand but it would help me make my decision of excusing it or not. Lastly, don't even get me started on the mess of graduation. First off, they said that we would get to vote on who we wanted as our student speaker for graduation. When we voted and had a clear winner, someone complained that it wasn't fair because she wanted to speak also. So like the favoritism there is, they send out another vote. This vote revealed the same winner. They continued to wrack havoc in that students life for being voted. They made her cry and treated her like she was a bad person all because someone was mad that they did not get voted for. She had to verbally stand up to the administration advocating for herself. Next, it took them until about halfway through our final semester to get us information about graduation because they hadn't booked a venue. Come to find out just the week before graduation that this venue has limited seating and we have to get tickets for those we want to come. Now if that isn't frustrating enough, we only get 8 tickets per person. This would be a different scenario if we had known this from the beginning, however we were never told that we are only allowed 8 people and all of us have invited many friends and family. Now because of this we had to go to all of those loved ones that we had invited and pick and choose who we want to give the tickets to. This is something that they knew when they booked the place. No venue withholds information like that upon booking. They simply withheld the information from us students as I'm sure they knew it would make us upset. I am positive this is because this was the cheapest option for a venue. We don't even have a stage. It is a black box theater which has a floor and lifted seating. You're telling me that the 2 million they made from my cohort couldn't cover a bigger graduation venue? I call bullshit. Despite all of the money we are all paying this school, we have nothing to show for it. We are getting treated like scum, there is no respect, no fairness, no professionalism, no empathy, and no trust. This school is not a school that cares about you and wants you to succeed. This is a business that cares about their paycheck. Think twice before coming here, you really do not get as good of an experience as you should for the investment that it is.

Dr. J, Dean Smithers, Dallen, Professor Gayani, and Professor Rains are genuinely amazing people. However, the turn over of Deans' and instructors really hit me at the beginning of my second year. I was harassed and even bullied by some of the teachers and one past Dean. I tried to lay low and keep my head down after personally breaking down in front of one, when I had enough. One professor literally made me cry and just stared at me with dead eyes, later she had continuous mental break downs during lectures, and would say the most cynical things about nursing and her personal problems. A past Dean singled me out and would take me to an isolation room where she would spook me out before big exams. I should have left then. However, I kept it private, in fear that the "gang" of mean girl teachers would continue to gate-keep and retaliate with grading. I presented the documentation for accommodations- which they miss led me to believe they would provide, I only requested isolated testing. Did not happen. Three retakes and one appeal later, still no accommodation. Testing for HESI with absolutely no preparation besides a shot at remediation. That's where my time at Fortis was wrapped up- with a $19,000 student loan to pay, no degree. One HESI was a 799- you need a 850+ to pass all core nursing courses. Just be aware of the credits being trash, only other private* for -profit schools will consider transferring, the amount of disrespect you'll have to endure, the falsifying of financial agreements you will indeed encounter here, and breaking the law ( American disability act), other than those issues- it was a fun roller coaster ride and *MY biggest life lesson* which is priceless! I made some true blue friends from the trauma bond, as well! ( I'm currently going back to S.L.C.C ) where I have real credits that didn't expire, and most importantly, I will not have to start (completely from scratch). Out of my friend group (5) there was only one who made it through, one they convinced to be a guinea pig for their 'NEW'- LPN program, and three of us- left to figure out how we got bamboozled? (Emotionally, mentally, and financially- I never recommended Fortis to anyone, I cared about...it's that much of a gamble. The proof is on the walls* The 'Hunger games' begin, around (pharmacology- med surg 1) A cohort of ( 35 students - 25 students) = 10 students will continue...This is the weeding out process- they only want the (top scorers) in the end* to fatten their pockets* and to claim their NCLEX passing rate is legit.
