If you are in the area stop by the air museum and have Mr. Avery Loucks give you a tour! We were blown away by all of his stories and knowledge. The museum is free but leave a donation this is how they fund the student scholarship program and the museum. We had the opportunity to see two planes that were still in use and on loaner to the museum. One was a cub and the other was a WWII replica of a German plane. The museum is located inside of one of the air hangers. The loaner planes fit inside a and they have full size parachutes suspended from the ceiling. On the outside of the museum there is a plane that you can climb in sit in the cockpit and touch. There are also engines, a fire truck, a light Beacon and a small kids plane. The entrance of the museum has a ton of articles, patches, maps and other things to look at. Stop by the museum you won't be disappointed!

We had the best time! We made friends with some of the best people here, Ed and Mike!!! We flew in the planes! I learned a lot about aviation and airplanes! I loved this place and the people here! Took a flight out and enjoyed the entire experience!!! I would recommend this place to anyone who was interested in learning about planes and getting to know a few amazing people !!

Once you pay for time slot you get on trolley ( or you can walk, bike the bridge and just pay entrance fee when you get there). It's a 15 min ride onto the island from bridge. Our drivers name was Julie.. she told us about island and what to expect when we get there.. if you come by trolley you are confined to time slot to get the trolley back I think it's 2 hrs.. we had time to snorkel by dock and go gift shop and walk around the multiple buildings and get the history. They have restrooms where you can change clothes which we did. Also water fountains to fill your water bottle because it's hot in summer you need to hydrate! CT was our greeter to island she gave us choice to do guided tour or self guided.. we self guided because we wanted to snorkel.. they do not furnish snorkel equipment you must bring in bag to island so keep that in mind but you can just swim if you want. The water was very refreshing! Toward end of our stay here CT was nice enough to allow us to get cut fish pieces and feed the fish including a nurse shark.. we enjoyed this place wished we had taken an e-bike and stayed awhile because it's very peaceful and could have spent more time snorkeling.. we will next time! I highly recommend taking trip here.. big part of the keys history

First thing is that, yes, there's a big sign on the street to enter but, you feel like you're going the wrong direction after you have to navigate through a resort gate and drive-through what appears to be there maintenance area before arriving at the discovery center. The building itself looks newer and is very large and there's plenty of parking. Upon entering, we had no idea what to expect because we couldn't find the cost of admission anywhere so we had to ask and make the determination if we wanted to go. For $15 per adult and six dollars per student we decided why not. The museum itself is set out nicely with the first floor, including a history of the Florida indigenous people, and then the development of the keys. These are lots of computer screens with interactive items but, they need to be locked because we accidentally got to the desktop and saw we went this first with a variety of windows open, various search items and even Roblox and other games open that kids were playing. There is also a small aquarium section with three tanks. Upstairs there is a small art gallery and a theater that plays a rotation of historical movies. We saw one about state parks (1/5) and one about the overseas highway (4/5). So kind of hit and miss there. If you are a history or museum buff or really interested in the keys then this might be worth a stop but, would not recommend for a family with kids as they will get bored easily.

We went during the off-season, so we didn't have to wait long for our tour to start or stand in any real line to get in. By the time we were leaving, though, we noticed a small line starting to form. Personally, I wouldn't wait more than five minutes to get inside unless you're a die-hard Hemingway scholar. The tour itself is totally fine, you get to walk through his small, modest home (which thankfully has air conditioning) and check out some historical memorabilia from his life and writing career. It's neat, but straightforward. Honestly, it seems like most people visiting are just cat people, and fair enough, the grounds are littered with six-toed cats, and they are indisputably the real star attraction of the property. On a side note: after our visit, Ernest Hemingway actually appeared to me in a dream. He made a direct request, asking if I could bring him some Krispy Kreme doughnuts because he is utterly exhausted from people bringing him Dunkin' Donuts. I told Papa I'd do what I could, but if there's a long line at the drive-thru, he's out of luck, I'm strictly not waiting in lines on this vacation.

Truman Little White House in Key West. We opted for the White Glove VIP Tour, and it was hands-down awesome. The VIP package takes the standard visit to a whole new level. We were able to access exclusive areas that regular tour groups couldn't, got to sit inside the actual presidential limo, and went next door to examine rare historic artifacts in the museum foundation's private archives. The entire two-hour tour flew by, largely thanks to our guide, Greg, who was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and top-tier. Now, a word of caution for future visitors... Beware the Hawaiian Shirt Curse. Legend has it that during Truman's post-presidential travels in the Pacific, a local Hawaiian elder bestowed a vibrant, hand-stitched shirt upon him--along with a subtle tiki curse. The spell was woven directly into the fabric: anyone who dons the garment shall be consumed by an insatiable, endless drive to acquire tropical resort wear. During the VIP tour, I was actually permitted to try on one of Truman's original vintage Hawaiian shirts. Ever since that moment, I've been on a full-blown spending spree buying Hawaiian shirts. My closet is overflowing, my bank account is weeping, but my tropical wardrobe has never looked better. Whether the legend is real or I'm just rationalizing my new fashion obsession, this tour was easily one of the highlights of our trip. Don't skip the VIP upgrade!
