Despite its kitsch decoration, Kilim is THE BEST place to have exactly the same kind of lahmacuns…read moreyou could have in Sanliurfa or Gaziantep provinces of Turkey in the area surrounding Bonn and Cologne.
All sorts of lahmacuns, be them Urfa, Antep or Findik, are very crispy, hearty and tasty as they should be. The amount of onion in Urfa lahmacun and amount of garlic in Antep is very balanced. Icli koftes are highly recommended, too. Even though pides taste good as well, they are one class below lahmacuns and contain too much fat in my opinion. Desserts you could order at the end, including baklava, kadayif and sekerpare, are always fresh and tasty, as they are brought from the konditorei owned by Kilim the next door.
Considering all these points, again, Kilim is THE BEST place to taste the genuine Southeastern Anatolian food inspired by Kurdish, Arabic and Turkish cultures, located in Mülheim, Cologne. If I am drooling over my keyboard as I am writing this review, it is a clear sign that Kilim deserves its well-deserved reputation and does not need my further endorsement. :)
