Have been here a few times now and this is probably my favorite dumpling place in the city. The real star is the sheng jian bao (not sure what they call it in the english menu). This is the only place that I have that comes anything close to what it would taste like in Shanghai. The Hong Kong pan fried noodles here are also really great. I grew up eating this dish as a kid and it is still a favorite of mine as an adult. The mongolian beef here is also quite good. The soup dumplings are good but not great. The meat is a bit bland and the proportions are a bit off. I would stay away from the scallion pancake as it isn't that great. Food comes out fast and the prices are pretty reasonable. Got lunch at yet another one of these places for dumplings. It may be one of the more affordable options in Pacific Heights. Dynasty Dumpling is bigger than it looks with a good sized dining area. Plenty of tables for a crowd. The prices are pretty okay for the amount and how big these are so eat up and get stuffed. At lunch it was pretty busy. It's annoying but it's a good sign. The dumplings are the main thing. Get a lot for not a lot. It's about $8 for the Vegetable Dumplings, which comes in the basket in which these are steamed. Big green dumplings. These are filling. Looks are deceiving as these are filled up and a few are enough. These have carrots and peas. Better place among the options for dumplings. It's affordable for how much you get. We ended up ordering beef chow fun in a delicious sauce, Szechuan shrimp( ample amounts of large shrimp in a spicy sauce, pan fried pork dumplings plus 2 orders of Shanghai original soup dumplings. The most recent time I came to Dynasty Dumpling definitely bumped this place up to 5 stars for me! It was my second time eating in the restaurant, and the service and food were absolutely deserving of the highest praise. My group of 8 came in on a Friday a little before 8pm and it was really busy inside. Every table was basically full, so we put our number down and went to Scopo Divino across the street to enjoy some wine while we waited. I got a call at 8:30 that our table was ready, so we headed over. Our waitress was so friendly and welcoming even though we were getting seated within 30 minutes of closing. We ordered walnut prawns, salt and pepper fish, garlic chow mein, veggie fried rice, mapo tofu, cumin lamb, orange chicken, crab and pork xiao long bao, bbq pork buns, pan fried pork buns, and har gow. The food started coming out shortly after we ordered and everything was piping hot and fresh. The new standout items for me were the garlic chow mein, cumin lamb, and pan fried pork buns, but there was nothing bad to say about any dish. The garlic noodles came with thick and chewy noodles tossed in a delicious garlic butter sauce, made even better with some of their chili oil. The cumin lamb was sooo tender and flavorful, and went so well with some rice. The pan fried pork buns had a nice thin wrapper, full of juicy meat, and was crispy on the bottom. I didn't get to try the veggie fried rice and mapo tofu, but they got good reviews. The dim sum was pretty good too, my fav being the flavor of the soup in the crab and pork xiao long bao. We had a vegetarian and pescetarian in our group, and there were good options for both of them. The house cold sake was easy to drink and went well with the fried and spicier dishes. Huge shoutout to the restaurant for staying open until almost 10pm for us, we were so thankful that we got to enjoy our meal and we weren't rushed out. When you go into a restaurant you are the only black person there. You order your food and then a slew of white people come in after, and everyone gets their order before you. Like literally EVERYBODY. They bring out the first part of my order and 30 mins later, I'm still waiting on the rest. They said the kitchen mixed my order and made a mistake. Then they brought out a dish I didn't order and finally the second part of my meal; the first part is now cold. Never again. My husband and I came down from SoCal to explore San Francisco and decided to visit Japantown/Chinatown. We love Asian food, so we searched on Google and Yelp for authentic spots and came across Dynasty Dumplings. With strong ratings (4.6 on Yelp and 4.3 on Google) and reviews mentioning no MSG and cleaner ingredients, we thought it would be a great choice. First, parking was a nightmare. We circled for 20 minutes with no luck and ended up calling the restaurant. The woman who answered was rude, rushed, and difficult to understand, though she did eventually take my order. We picked up our food, brought it back to the truck, and started eating. Here's my honest breakdown: Chicken Corn Dumplings - Decent portion size, but completely lacking flavor. Easily some of the worst dumplings I've ever had. Beef Dumplings - Even worse than the chicken. Overcooked, oddly textured, and tasted unpleasantly raw. Chow Mein - Hugely disappointing. The noodles were thick, more like udon than chow mein, which wasn't clear in the description. Flavor-wise, it was nothing but garlic--no salt, no balance, just greasy and bland. Veggie Spring Rolls - Absolutely dreadful. Oily, burnt, and strangely tasted like cinnamon sticks. I couldn't finish even one bite. My hands were left coated in oil. Shrimp Fried Rice - Completely flavorless. The shrimp tasted off, and the rice had no seasoning whatsoever. To make things worse, I started having stomach pains after eating it. Beef & Broccoli - The worst dish of all. The beef had a strange, almost fake texture I've never experienced before. The dish was watery, oily, soggy, and again, just overpowering garlic with no real seasoning. For context, we spent $100 on this meal and couldn't eat most of it. My husband ended up with an upset stomach afterward. We didn't even feel comfortable giving the leftovers away, which says a lot. I reached out to the restaurant to request some sort of reimbursement. The woman I spoke to offered to redo the dumplings or spring rolls, but since we were already far away, that wasn't helpful. I'm honestly shocked by the positive reviews. Maybe it was just an off day, but based on our experience, I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant. Came to the city to act like a tourist and visit the California Academy of Science. We came out craving Chinese food and being in the city you can't go wrong in looking for good authentic Chinese restaurants those mom and pops shops. This one by far hands down the best. Family of 6 visiting Muir Redwood Monument love this place. Dumpling is very fulfilling. Their Ha Gao dumpling got double shrimps. Fried rice, walnut shrimps, salt & pepper pork chop are all very yummy. Fried tofu is also crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Ordering is easy. The non dumpling dishes that we tried were just average at best, not particularly tasty but not horrible either, overall would not try again given that there are many other more delicious restaurants at the same price point. We had the beef chow fun (bland, and several clumps, though not too greasy), walnut shrimp (big shrimp but not many), jie lan vegetable (garlic sauce just ok, very light, I guess good for people who prefer dishes to be on the lighter flavor side), cumin lamb (bigger thicker pieces of lamb than other places but definitely with meat tenderizer), dry fried green beans (very wet sauce as opposed to usual dry stir fry, not very flavorful). With the launch of all the dumpling crazed places in the City I am skeptical in just another dumpling place. To me Chinese Dim Sum dishes are a cheap way to enjoy my ethnic cuisine so in crazy San Francisco when this place opened up, I was a bit skeptical. Dynasty opened in late 2023 in a location that for a long time has been a really sad location for Chinese restaurants. It has a lot to overcome the stigma of that space. The dim sum is good. The pan fried fork buns are differently prepared and the chili pork dumplings were nice and spicy. Also had the har gow (Shrimp and chive dumplings) and chicken chow mein (Singapore noodles). Is the place trying to be trendy or traditional? Food is better than the cheap dim sum to go places on Clement St. Now the catch is that it is a little more expensive like these new trendy dumpling places and some of the traditional names of dishes like Har Gow are non-existent and Americanized. That said, the crowd was very Asian and family oriented which gives me hope that the place does not become too trendy. Will be back for more of this simplified Asian cuisine. read more

SINGAPORE STYLE VERMICELLI (no meat): Kinda bland ngl. The curry powder only goes so far. Flavor may have been affected since we requested no meat in this. ORANGE CHICKEN: Just the right amount of sauce (none of that deluge of ambiguous brown sauce). Cronchy batter & tender chicken. I love :-) LEEK WITH SHRIMP DUMPLINGS: No complaints. Strong leek flavor. CHICKEN & CORN POT STICKERS: These have a lot more protein than expected. Super round, chubby little guys (this shape...). Can be a little dry but nothing you can't fix without dipping sauce. CRYSTAL SHRIMP DUMPLINGS: Har gow is a must at dim sum!! Skin is a bit thick, but did not overwhelm the shrimp. Came here for lunch with a friend and overall, I thought it was solid. It was lunch so we decided to get a couple of lunch dishes for just $14 each. The sesame chicken came with a good amount of chicken, it was crunchy and good for what it is. The Mapo tofu was tasty, although I think I'd go for a more protein heavy dish for the lunch special. Each of the lunch specials came with an egg roll and fried rice. The rice didn't taste super fresh and was pretty dry. It was supposed to come with soup, but they didn't give us any. For the dim sum dishes, we got the har gow, pork XLBs, and potstickers. I liked the har gow the best, but pretty pricey for 4pcs. The XLB was only $9.95, which is a great deal. However they didn't have much soup in them. Tasty but wanted more soup inside the dumpling. Our service was a little weird, I was finished eating but my friend wasn't. And they basically took her plate away as she was still eating to pack it to go. My fave dish so far is the Szechuan spicy boiled fish fillet! This one is good cuz the broth is drinkable it's not too oily and it's a good level of spice I love Chinese salt + pepper anything, so one time we got the squid, but the cool one to try is the turnip cake! Got it twice cuz we haven't had it like that anywhere else. Also highly recommend the marinated cucumber appetizer! It's the best side to have in between all the other dishes. My wife and I were looking for a New Year's weekend place for dim sum and decided to try Dynasty Dumpling. The restaurant had a grand opening sign and the interior design was really nice. We started with some jasmine tea which was served loose leaf on a cool looking tea pot and cup set. We tried the Vegetable Chow Fun, the Original XLB and Steamed Pork Buns. They were all tasty. For dessert we had the sesame balls (mochi). We thought they had red beans but it had lotus instead. We're looking forward to try more restaurants with Dim Sum. read more

This place is new this week and I believe this place has finally replaced the last 2 Asian restaurants located at this spot which I firmly believe were run by some money laundering scheme. The last 2 places were consistently EMPTY - literally not a soul inside every single time I walked by (practically every day). This new owner is promoting the food, with handing out menus on the sidewalk, and offering a 10% discount for the first month. It was very clean inside, and the waitress was efficient. We ordered 3 things - one of which they said they were out of, considering this is the very first review, kinda annoying that they would have a menu that lists things they do not have - but I rolled with it and substituted another item. We got the: shanghai noodles orange chicken XLB soup dumplings Orange chicken was cold on top but super hot underneath, my best guess on this was that we received a bit on top from a previous order, and the fresh stuff was the piping hot part. The few pieces of broccoli on the side were actually cold, I would have liked if they had been freshly steamed. Noodles were basic but tasty, better when I added the chili oil on the table. XLB were pretty standard, but piping hot, and served with black vinegar. I found it odd that they were playing County top hits while we were there, but to each his own. read more

It would be cool if they added an option to add a protein like fried tofu to the veggie chow fun. Regardless, the flavor was excellent and all the vegetables in it were very fresh. The salt and pepper tofu was cooked perfectly, with a crisp exterior and soft interior. Prices are reasonable and portions are sizeable too so a great option for takeout as well. Thank goodness, a new place close to work! I've been here twice with coworkers and so far, so good! We go to lunch around 2pm, so it's not during normal lunch rush hours. The inside of this place has been completely redone. It is clean, spacious, and simply decorated. The menu has lots of options from dumplings to noodles to everyday a la cart items and even a lunchtime rice plate menu. We have been given a 10% discount for its first month of opening, so that was a nice surprise. The XLB is good. The combination pan fried noodles are tasty. Holy moly, the walnut prawns are huge, have a perfect consistency of crisp, and are delish. The food is yummy, the presentation is nice, and the service is good.
