I have been taking lessons from Dvora since I was 7 (1999) and I continue to see her to this day. Dvora is no ordinary piano teacher - she is astonishingly talented, both as a pianist and as a teacher. She took me from not being able to read/play one note of music to learning some of my favorite classical pieces, such as Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy. Also, hearing her play a classical piece is a treat itself - she really has an amazing gift. The first time you go see Dvora, she is likely going to assess your personal skill level and goals. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or have been playing piano for 15 years - she has been playing piano since she was a child and has an enormous amount of experience. It's extremely humbling to show up even after 14 years of seeing her and to know there is so much more wisdom she has to offer. We discovered Dvora through a comment/suggestion on the Next Door App. I had a particularly interesting student who needed piano lessons. My 19 year old son who is autistic, plays piano by ear- and really resisted formal training, (because "his way sounded better" he would tell you!) Dvora understood from first meeting my son that the approach to bring him to the formal training would be delicate, and different than the traditional lesson. She patiently allowed a certain portion of each lesson for my son to "play" his version of songs- in exchange for him agreeing to also play in the way she requested- from the sheet music! Her patience and approach payed off! My son built trust and came to understand that there was room in his music mind for both the creative AND the formal classical training. We owe so much to Dvora!
