I am so happy we have such a good small restaurant here in Duvall. Went there with my friend and we be got hamburgers and sweet potato fries. The sauce they put on the hamburger is sooooo good. The fries were perfect, not too dry or soaked in oil. The portion is huge. So, it you are like me that do not eat a lot, you better share your meal. I am not sure how is he meal share rule they do, but next time j will ask. This is a very charming little spot on the main drag. Never been to Duvall before, but it's quite nice--they have the small-town vibe working for sure. This place doesn't oversell that at all, but it still has a relaxed feel that's very hard to duplicate in town. There's a bar side and a restaurant side. The restaurant serves breakfast until 2:00, and it looks like it's the breakfast champ in this town. They had a steady stream of customers on the sunny Saturday we were in. There are maybe half a dozen booths, a few tables supplementing that. There's a brief menu with sandwiches, burgers, and salads; the other side shows omelettes and scrambles and hashes. Everything's quiet and cool and low-lit; very comfortable setting for sure. The staff here are incredibly warm and sweet--you feel so welcome and it's such a pleasant ambiance. I really dug all the servers. I had a cobb salad that was tasty--not a complex treatment or anything different about it, but the ingredients were fresh and well-assembled. Prices here are not screamingly cheap but they're perfectly reasonable. The bar side looked friendly and inviting; they have a small sidewalk patio, plus booths and stools and whatnot inside. They have a full bar plus about 10 taps. They get some decent kegs; there were Firestone Walker and Black Raven signs and empties around. They didn't have anything spectacular on tap when I looked in, but they're quick to offer samples and the staff was super nice; so were the folks at the bar. Bottom line, if you're out here antiquing or whatever, this is probably the spot for you to grab a bite. read more

We were scoping out Duvall one weekend, and found the Duvall Grill and Tap Room for lunch. It was a nice small town change from the Seattle hustle and bustle. The menu is small - some sandwiches and a couple larger dishes. We both opted for burgers. The meat was juicy, and the blue cheese sauce on mine gave it a zing. The buns really made the burgers good - they were from a local bakery and super soft and tasty. The fries we got as a side were extra crisp and addictive! They have a small adjoining bar with about 6 beers on tap. The servers didn't know what was on tap, only styles, so we walked over and chose for ourselves. My husband and I went for a drive and ended up in Duvall. I was hungry and the pictures on Yelp looked amazing. We sat in the bar (I just entered that way and didn't know there was an actual "restaurant" seating area). We were greeted quickly and received drinks and gave our orders right away. Food - While all of the burgers sounded amazing, the portions look really big and although I'm 9 months pregnant, there's not enough room. I opted for a kids grilled cheese and tomato basil soup with a side of sweet potato fries for the husband. The grilled cheese was actually pretty big and so buttery and yummy. Might be too much for an actual kid LOL. Soup was tasty and just right with sandwich. Sweet potato fries were fairly thin and crispy (I don't like big chunky fries, so this was good). Overall I was happy with the meal :) Service was great. Our server was efficient and friendly. All we ever ask for really. Bar was cool, clean, lots of interesting artwork and odd things to look at. I've had breakfast and dinner here a few times and really enjoyed every visit. It's a local family-friendly restaurant with an attached bar. Everyone's attitude seems to be towards satisfying their guests. The place has a great vibe. Today I had the Duvall Breakfast, which is 2 eggs, choice of Hemper's ham, thick cut bacon, sausage or veggie sausage with country potatoes, and 2 pieces of toast. Everything came out quickly and perfectly prepared. It's a great value with quality ingredients​. Very tasty. Shout out to my server, Chris. He is extremely polite, friendly, and attentive. I asked for more and he just took care of it. Never did I feel rushed. He is always ready with a coffee refill. Chris is the kind of people that make a restaurant visit special. Came here for breakfast before floating down the river with the girls and the food was AMAZING! I got the pancakes with bacon and eggs and everything was super delicious. The pancakes were the best I ever had, and I don't really like pancakes that much. They were chewy but still light and airy. I really don't understand how that's accomplished, but it's amazing! The bacon is Hempler's and it was so good I couldn't believe it. I wanted to just order more bacon and keep eating it all day! My friends got the huevos rancheros and the biscuits and gravy and they were both super tasty as well. The waitress was friendly and the bill wasn't bad either. A definite 4.5 star experience. A true gem of a find in downtown Duvall. Late afternoon Sunday stop after a hike. Taproom/bar on top of meals. Our server was very personable and sweet. Yes indeed the prices are high imo, even for the current economic climate. High extras costs for things like real maple syrup and sweet potato fries. But the food we enjoyed was worth it to our taste. Breakfast served all day, only on weekends. The breakfast menu has all the usual suspects plus a few surprises. And the lunch menu is heavy on the handhelds with some salads also. The Rueben my wife ordered was delicious if somewhat spendy. Thick cut corned beef, nicely toasted rye (from Grateful Bread nearby?) and kraut made a great example of this sandwich. Pronounced "delicious". After numerous questions, I chose to try breakfast item-biscuits and gravy. Not only is it a favorite of mine anywhere, it's a nice modest cost. I also added a side of link sausage. This turned out to be a fantastic choice as it was one of the best versions I have had in the last five years or so. Especially outside the south. Scratch made gravy heavy on the sausage and very flavorful. One of my questions had been if the make their own biscuits which they don't but buy them from Grateful Bread. So fluffy and fresh tasting that had to have been baked that day. Perfect vessel for the gravy. Loved every morsel. Came with potatoes that I felt were over cooked. Maybe my issue. The sausage links-which I was unable to find out the name of the producer-were also very good. Richly herby with sage and other spices. If I knew who made them I buy a lot myself. The decor is somewhat sparse with odd paintings on the wall. Bare tables, bare walls. The table was set with a fork and knife and a paper napkin only. This seemed cheap and inconsiderate for a full service restaurant. The server was friendly and polite, but wearing a baseball cap and shorts. The food was generally bland and nothing special. Fiancé and I were hoping for so much more from this cute divey spot in the little village of Duvall, as we ducked in for a casual breakfast Sunday morning. Our first tip off should have been the 80's heavy metal that was blaring through the speakers: obviously for the staff, not the customers-- who clearly did not fit the heavy-metal demographic-- even in an ironic way. Happy metal= fine in a bar, but not on a Sunday for breakfast. And it was freezing in there- not just cold but freezing to the point of needing to wear coats. It's hard to ruin eggs/potatoes w veggie sausage and a biscuit.. but there you have it! Eggs were carelessly chopped, not scrambled, and the potatoes were hard and way over cooked (they were suspiciously similar to those pre-packaged frozen coated bags you can get in big box stores or find on an airplane). Biscuit was hard, cold and puck-like..the veggie sausage was ok. Fiancé's Huevos Rancheros were basically a mess, layered on a too-small plate, with the tortilla hidden underneath soupy beans, cheese, and loose sunny side up eggs. The coffee was hot, but that's the only good thing I can say about it. Server was ok, but just kinda going the the motions. All told, I think the owners would not be pleased with our experience, and would do well to tweak a few of the obvious careless (and very easy to fix) issues we encountered. On the way out, we discovered that the separate bar portion of the place was attached by a back hallway, (we hadn't realized that the two places were connected or associated with each other). The bar looked really cute and hipster, with booths as well as the bar itself. If we ever stopped in there again it would certainly be in the bar not the café portion. So.. two stars given for a cute place with potential and the possibility of a better experience on the bar side. read more

Not one thing stood out, it was as if the school nurse was running the grill, very bland in the flavor department. My sister brought me here because she and her husband frequent this place quite often. I got the eggs benedict and it was easily the best version I've ever had. I also fell in love with their coffee and tried to buy some to take home but they don't sell it to the public. It was nicely spiced, and very blackened, yet was medium rare as requested. Closer to medium but acceptable. My wife's prawns were overdone and dry. Real shame that. I try to find a new place to try burgers once or twice a month, so I've tried a lot... I ordered the classic cheeseburger add onion with the garden patty and it was the best burger I have ever had. I have had many restaurants put thousand island on the burger and it tastes not amazing, so it wasn't the thousand island even though I usually don't like TI and theirs was actually made right. It was the way they grilled the patty. It was the fresh produce; the tomatoes were thick and red, the lettuce was crisp and refreshing, the pickles were thick and full of flavor, the onion intense, the locally made buns are to die for. This was hands down THE BEST BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD, that includes even before becoming a vegetarian. The fries are awesomesauce and so it the tarter and honey mustered. My iced tea was also good. My 11 year old son ordered the kids cheese burger and it was the size of Blazing Onions adult burger, he added bacon and pickles for $.75 and he was IN HEAVEN. He said best burger he's had in a very long time, his favorite is still Nick Jr's in everett. But he said if we aren't in Everett or if Nick's closes this spot wins best kids burger. He also loved the fries. My daughter devoured the fries as well and loved the tarter sauce, she is two so she didn't have much input. My husband ordered the Bleu Burger with a double patty. He loved it. He did say it was his fault and if you do order a double patty ask for more sauce and cheese. He loved the fries and sauces. His extra patty was $1.50. Now the staff.... our waiters name was Owen. He was awesome too. He took such good care of us and the people around us that I thought he was the owner. The bathrooms, tables, floors everything was clean and well taken care of. The wood booths and tables are comfortable. Bar and restaurant separated by a wall which is great since they both have their own type of atmosphere-- you can still order food when you sit at the bar. Love this place, it's our first choice whenever we're dining out in Duvall. As others have mentioned, the breakfasts are outstanding... you really can't go wrong with anything you order. My husband and I are both meat and potatoes kinda people when it comes to lunch/dinner, so I can't speak to any of the more creative menu items, but we both love their burger, steak, meatloaf and pork dishes. It's worth mentioning that someone said they're closed Mondays and Tuesdays... that's no longer accurate. The bar side is open with a special pub menu on Monday and Tuesday nights (from 4:30pm on), so as long as you don't have kids in tow on either of those nights, consider the Grill an option 7 days a week. read more

The best place for breakfast in Duvall. They have many different types of scrambles all very good. Lunch and Dinner is also very good. Highly recommend the Bacon Lettuce Tomato & Avocado (BLTA) for lunch for its think crispy bacon. Dinner I go with the Rib Eye special! I've eaten here twice. Our first visit was for lunch in late '06 or early '07. I got the black & blue burger. Not bad - somewhat tasty and definitely filling. Typically I don't talk about Katie's food since she posts her own reviews, but the sandwich she got was disgusting. Terrible quality, terrible taste. We returned on 4/4 since the reviews on here are good. As Katie said, it definitely looks nicer inside, and the food was better this time around, but still below par. I got a spinach stuffed pork with polenta and greens. The sides didn't pair at all with the pork (which was burnt), and the greens weren't cooked properly. Given, this is just a "neighborhood grill" but they're attempting to be more upscale than they can handle. read more

***UPDATE 4/5/08*** Okay, we gave this another shot, and I swear I really wanted to give them more stars. But I can't. We had dinner here last night, and I'm leaving the stars at 2. The place does look nicer than last time we were here, but I still wouldn't call it a "nice place". The cocktail list was a decent length, but there was nothing interesting on it at all. Why am I going to pay $10 for a lemon drop here? So no drinks. We got the sweet potato fries, which were good. But there was nothing special to them- I can throw sweet potatoes into my own deep fryer and come up with the exact same thing, great. The salads were just bagged greens on a plate with a few burnt croutons, and my "vinaigrette" was nothing but oil. Oily lettuce, hooray. My entree was butternut squash ravioli with cranberries and pecans. Okay, the menu said pecans, it was actually served with almonds. I'm crazy for butternut squash, I'll eat ANYTHING with butternut squash, but this wasn't great. Actually the flavors together- squash cranberries and nuts- that was really nice. But the ravioli was something I could have grabbed at Safeway and overcooked myself. It was HARD. I cut most of the pieces up and ate the gooey squashy innards. (I buy the Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli for lunch sometimes, and it's a million times better than this was- that sucks!) My husband tried the pork, served with polenta and greens. The pork was burnt, the polenta had no flavor to speak of, and the greens didn't seem to go with any of it. A mess of a dish, he left a lot behind. Actually we both ended up with mutilated piles of crap to leave behind. Which is weird- we don't usually leave food behind! Honestly, for the same money, you could walk straight across the street and have dinner at The Grange Cafe. A much nicer, much more elegant setting, much MUCH better food (their ravioli is absolutely melt-in-your-mouth).. why in the world are people eating at the Grill when they could be at the Grange???????? My husband's burger was actually decent, but sorry, I couldn't get pass the nastiness they served me, and we've never been back. Their dinner menu is significantly more interesting than the lunch menu, and it seems to have a good reputation, so maybe that was an off-day. I've had breakfast here twice and both times I've been pleasantly surprised. Good tasting food, cozy atmosphere, no wait, focus on local/organic ingredients. You can sit on the bar side if you want to watch a game during your meal. And they have a really nice beer selection. The one area for improvement is that the exterior doesn't really befit the interior/menu. Granted, you can't make huge changes to the landlord's exterior, but some signage revisions would be helpful.. I had a hard time getting Yelpchick to even set foot in this place, but once she did, she admitted she liked it...a lot. The bar side looks kind sketchy from the outside-- the smoker-ish paraphernalia, neon signs, etc. Good beer, better local food. The outside doesn't really 'say' either of these. read more

Ate here after we saw online they have poutine. My husband is Canadian, and any place that offers poutine usually gets him excited. This place shall be an exception to that rule. The Duvall Grill poutine was okay, but not exactly like REAL poutine. Theirs consisted of sweet potato fries in chipolte gravy with some sort of pulled pork on top of that with blue cheese dressing on top of that. It wasn't bad... but it didn't really feel like poutine either. No beverage menu came to us, we had to ask waitress what they had in terms of wine and beer. She said they had 3 types of wine, I picked a white. My husband asked about the beers, she asked what he liked (they didn't have it) and she suggested something else that my husband said was okay. I'm PRETTY sure with the attached bar the place must have more than 3 types of wine, I think the waitress is just lazy and didn't feel like pulling a beverage menu for us or going back to find out what types they did carry. I had a BLT, my "go to" on menus when nothing else looks good to me. I didn't like the bacon on it, although I think other people might. It was very thick and my sandwich had too much bacon flavor (to me). I only ate a few bites. It came with a "salad" and I should say they use that word subjectively. If by "salad" they meant "plain lettuce with nothing on it", then they scored 100%. I mean, really?! PLAIN lettuce, they can't even bother to shred some carrots or toss a grape tomato or a cucumber slice in there? My husband had a burger with fries, he enjoyed his. He's a burger man though... as long as someone serves him over cooked hamburger on a bun with fries he's usually content. All in all, the waitress was friendly but mostly invisible. We ate early (5pm) and the restaurant only had 1 other table so it wasn't like the waitress was busy. Overall, despite her friendliness I thought she was lazy for a.) not giving me a real wine list and b.) barely coming out, only checking on us 30 minutes after food was served and to give us the bill. She wasn't available for drink refills. We might come back here in the future and re-try the place. Our first impression was pretty under-whelming. Food was good - waitress was awful. If is wasn't for the waitress we would have been back the next day. Now we are not sure we will ever be back that is how bad our waitress treated us. The food was a positive, the burgers were generous, cooked perfectly and satisfying. The pasta we had was a cream sauce with scallops...it was mouth watering. The waitress could not describe the dishes very well, she forgot our order and asked us again then she got it wrong. She never showed up to ask us how our meal was, if we need more drinks and when we asked for the bill she was put off because we did not order another round of drinks (which we would have if she had stopped by 20 minutes earlier). I don't understand how people DON'T like this place. We've been four times now, and every meal has been fantastic. Most, if not all, of the food is locally grown/baked/etc. The menu seems to change with some frequency, but there are a few standard-issue items that are not to be missed. I've had a guacamole bacon burger there a few times which knocks even my favorite burger place in San Francisco out of the water. The desserts are pretty tasty as well. You may not have as good of service when they're really busy, but for the most part, they have been pretty consistent. read more
