I did two tours with them. The hotels were nice enough, and the routes were mostly nice, except for some long-term trail closures on the routes that we had to figure out detours for. The main problem with the trips was the rental bikes. The secondary problem was the (lack of) customer service. The first tour, the shifting on the bike I received didn't work correctly, because the bike hadn't received necessary maintenance. After riding the bike for two days, I emailed Dutch Bike Tours requesting a new bike. The response I received essentially said, "We took so long to respond to you that we assume you've solved the problem yourself." In fact, the bike got progressively worse throughout the trip. On the second tour, the shifting on the bike I was given broke after riding less than 20 km. I had the bike mechanic from the bike breakdown company come to try to fix the bike, and he said that it was broken in a way that he couldn't fix and told me to call Dutch Bike Tours to request a new bike. I called the next morning, and the hotel gave me keys for a different bike. Unfortunately, the new bike was also not in good repair: the handlebars were twisted off-center, and the chain was badly in need of maintenance. I tried a third bike, and it had the same problems as the second bike. I realized that all the rental bikes used by Dutch Bike Tours were in bad condition, and I hoped that the bike simply wouldn't get worse as I rode it. The next day, after being annoyed by listening to a squeaking bike chain all day, my husband encouraged me to see if the hotel had any other bikes I could try. They did, and the bike was actually in worse condition than the one I was already using. The hotel then contacted Dutch Bike Tours about having another bike delivered, and apparently it was delivered, but no one notified me. Not only were all the rental bikes I tried (5 in total) in need of maintenance, but even when I tried to work with Dutch Bike Tours to get a well-maintained bike, they weren't able or willing to supply it. read more

We use them for a 5 days self guided tour in Amsterdam area. The hotel was pretty good. The bikes are way too heavy, 20 kilo, 44 pounds plus and make the ride very slow and miserable. Otherwise, they use an app for navigation which is good but no good setup to set the phone, so the phone fell which was dangerous. No support from the company, no person there. Hotel staff had to help. Only sub par email support. In short not a good experience. read more

We did the Green Heartlands of Holland bike tour and had an amazing trip. Dutch Bike Tours exceeded our expectations every step of the way. I do recommend getting the GPS unit. Between the GPS and the number system we only veered off the path a few times. The route was curated to take us by the coolest landmarks and sights. The towns we stayed in where welcoming and authentic. I highly recommend this company to anyone interested in a bike tour. We had a lot of questions before the trip and Dutch bike tours was very responsive as well. We are already looking at another trip we could do. Will book with them again! read more

This was our 4th self guided bike tour and we were shocked that when we arrived at the first hotel, we were handed keys to our bikes and told they were available in the basement. No one fitted us (granted they had our height previously given to them) no one to adjust them and in fact we found that the handle bars on both bikes were loose making steering difficult. We learned later that we were supposed to have brought our own tools for adjustments - assuming that you know how to do that. Instead we paid someone in a small town en route to do the job for us. The directions, as someone else mentioned were cumbersome and lengthy and we did get lost quite a few times. DBT was responsive before we arrived in answering emails about our numerous questions but after that we weren't impressed. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Dutch Bike Tours. Everything was organized well. They responded to all of our questions and provided excellent hotels along the way. Seeing Holland by bicycle was a great way of seeing the countryside and meeting people along the way. The bikes were in perfect condition and we were provided with dailycycling routes which made things easy. I would thoroughly recommend Dutch Bike Tours. read more
