Driving by , ready for lunch , I see this place , and I notice 3 city police cars , s good sign as the cops usually eat at good places or where they get a discount . My first visit to a Dustin's BBQ. Looks like a sonny's in design. I order salad and soup with a side of beef brisket . Salad bar rather small but very good . Soup , I had a chicken rice , fairly good but not hot enough. The brisket was 5 strips of beef , chewing gum thin , about 1.5 inch wide by 8 inches long . Very uniform looking . It was rather dry and didn't taste fresh . Not bad , tasted like something from the publix deli then heated up. My waitress was fair , I asked for lemon for my tea twice , I gave up and asked another waitress . I also had to get my own 2nd plate for another salad . Not bad , but since Four Rivers opened , I now have had great BBQ . Dustin's is ......ok , third in my rating behind Sonny's. read more

When I think "Bar-B-Q", and in particular pulled pork, I think bland, chewy, and wet meat on a stale roll. Imagine my glee when that is exactly what I found at Dustin's Bar-B-Q - bland, chewy, and wet pulled pork. Squeee! A plethora of sauce choices available and the disinterested staff could not describe any or even one of them with any degree of recommendation. When added to the bland, chewy, and wet pulled the sauces faded away into the void of flavor the meat was producing. Was I eating a flavor black hole that was sucking any hopes of deliciousness into it? I talked with my physicist friends and while no documentation of such an anomaly exists, it would be worthy of a research project if only they could get the bland, chewy, and wet pulled pork passed the human subjects protection guidelines. Dustin's (2) competes locally with Sonny's (4), Woody's (5), Dickie's (3), and Bono's (1). Dustin's is related to Sonny's, so it's similar, but better by a few notches. Service is quick, but the servers could use a boost in personality. The brisket is moist, tender, with a decent char, and proper smoke ring. Really doesn't need sauce which is a good thing. The pulled pork is also moist and tender. It needs a sauce to boost it up a bit. The pulled pork table sauce is decent. The sides, beans, fries, mac/cheese, and cole slaw were all good, but the coleslaw lacked a little twang to it. A tad bland. The toasted garlic bread is a real disappointment and why they lost a star with me. The bread is nothing more than french bread cut on a bias, toasted, and buttered. I could detect no garlic. It ain't hard to make decent BBQ bread. Dustin's, you really missed the boat on this one. Everyone loves to dip their bread in sauce. All-in-all, a decent BBQ joint among the similar competitors. Went here for dinner during bike week with my stepfather David Allan Coe after our show. Servers were friendly and over worked. The food was servered to all 6 of us cold. The meat on the ribs was like cold jerky as tuff as could be. Same for the chicken. The pulled pork had a good flavor and was the best item on the plate but is was Luke warm. #hotfoodshot the macaroni and cheese was a lot like school paste with flavor the garlic bread was well buttered but still cold. The manager refunded a lot of the food and even offered us more as we left but I felt I was just going to get a repeat of the same dinner experience so I declined. Teri, the manager, is extremely rude. She told me that I would need to share BBQ sauce and that she wouldn't give me any extra BBQ sauce. I am not sharing BBQ on my take out order with other people especially during Covid. This is unsanitary and I will report this restaurant to the health department. This restaurant is so cheap that they are cutting corners on their customers health and safety. When I requested napkins and utensils for my order, she asked for my name. We eat here offten, definitely the best bbq in town. I enjoyed the unlimited salad bar and soup. They keep the salad bar very clean and offer spinach or mix lettuce of which both were fresh. The soup was broccoli soup and it tasted home made. For dinner we had the chicken, pulled pork, sweet potatoes, bake beans and green beans. I made a sandwich with my sliced pork and there very good sweet bbq sauce. I was pretty much full from the salad bar amd the soup so I got to take almost a whole meal home. Highlights: The food comes out fast and hot. Obviously some of it is pre made in the back however everything tasted fresh. The food is also a very good value being able to add on unlimited soup for only a dollar fifty. Their homemade pasta salads potato salads are also very good. With the salad bar they offer dessert also, a pineapple marshmallow combination which is very good with the chocolate pudding. The sliced pork was very good just the right amount of flavor. We had two people waiting on us because one was training and they were both very nice. Lowlights: Not much here I would appreciate more comfortable seating and I'm not a huge fan of the baked beans however they are ok and most other people seam to like them. To my mind Dustin's has small portions, untrimmed fatty cuts of meat, offers little if any bang for the buck and has a rather limited menu. Worse feature is that instead of a good barbecue taste, most items to me seemed overly greasy with a truck stop flavor. read more

Our waitress Liz, was unattentive and was too busy chatting with other waitresses in the dining area about her personal life and the personal life of other Dustin's employees. It took her about ten minutes to bring a to-go box and to-go cups to our table. When I finally got tired of waiting, I threw the rest of my turkey in a napkin and headed to the register. She met me on my way there with the box and the cups. Thanks (rolls eyes). The food - the entrees are overpriced and I noticed that a price hike has occured since our last dining experience. Certain side items (mac & chz, fried okra, and a few others have an add-on premium of .70$). The mac and chz is what you'd typically find in a cafeteria serving line at your local hospital; it was bland and tasteless. A few nagging thoughts - the sauces have been removed from the table and are brought to you upon request. Well, when another table asked for a certain sauce, Liz, came to our table, snagged them and brought them to the other diner. So, instead of her going to the server's station, she just took them right off the table, even though the hubs and I were not done eating our meal. Will we go back? Probably not. read more

She took our order, never refilled our drinks. My daughter wanted Ranch, I asked for Ranch it took 20 mins to get. She brought the table next to their food and ranch but seem to forgot ours. I had to ask again. Then when I got my bill, I saw they charge me a 1.00 for Ranch. She never told me that they charged for Ranch. Once seated I pulled Dustin's up on Yelp and seeing that the reviews were all over the road I was prepared for a so-so meal. I saw that they offered wings so I asked the waitress if they were any good and she said "Yes, and that before she worked here she wasn't much of a wing fan, but now she's hooked". And they charge additional $1.95 for soup.... doesn't come as part of the salad bar.... how much soup does one really eat.... so, didn't find value in the additional expense... didn't see anyone else there have it either. We visited this location on a Saturday evening. Busy, but not ridiculously busy. We've been to other Dustin's locations in the past with great visits, so we were looking forward to this dinner. The food was delicious! I ordered the salad bar with grilled chicken breast. The chicken was juicy and super flavorful. The salad bar is the same at every location, and I appreciate that. Love the bread pudding! And the cheese cubes! With a toddler now, I especially appreciate the salad bar as I can get her eating quickly. My husband ordered ribs and raved about them. The service? Eh. It took a while to place our drink order. The food was slow to come out. We had different servers each visit our table: one took our drink order, one brought our food, one refilled our drinks, the first one brought our check. It was odd. Tables weren't cleared off in a timely manner. The floor was a little messy. One employee did a sweep of the carpet, but it didn't help much. As good as it gets!! My fiance and I came here for lunch and enjoyed pulled pork, fries, and a salad bar. The pork was moist and I smothered mine in their mustard BBQ sauce. The salad bar had lots of goodies including potato salad, pea salad, Cole slaw, and breads. Our waitress was very nice and checked on us sparingly...no hovering and no neglecting. I am not a big fan of BBQ, but my husband is. I have eaten here several times and was all and all pleased by my experience. I usually eat the BBQ beef lunch which is reasonably priced and very filling. I wouldn't ask to eat here because I really don't care for BBQ, but if I have to go somewhere for BBQ I would probably pick this place. The staff has always been attentive and it is close to my house. Our family was seated and waited on by a kind young waitress who really made us feel at home. With the prices of the food (around $8 for a decent medium entree), we absolutely loved it. I ordered the pulled pork sandwhich with baked beans (about $6.99), and the salad bar (for an additional $7.99). The salad bar included sweets, fruits, and obviously, the salad. Great go-to bar-b-q place! I got the sliced pork plate with fries and slaw. I asked for the pork to be sliced extra thin and it actually came to the table sliced extra thin. The slaw dressing was good and the veggies in the slaw were chopped fine, which I appreciated. I LOVED their garlic bread!
