I contacted the Dust Bunnies last minute- to their credit they were very kind on the phone, and got me in same day. I talked to Mary- who was extremely kind and helpful. I had to attend to business, and was unable to be there when they showed up to clean my empty house. I was told it was a move out clean- including floors, appliances, and general house keeping chores for 250$. Having never hired a cleaning-service before, I didn't think much of it and expected a super clean home.
They contacted me after having cleaned my home, and told me they found some personal items and boxed them up for me. This was very kind, and I felt at this point that my home would be spotless. However- when I showed up on Thursday to see the work, I kid you not when I say the floors had hardly been touched. There was dust in every corner, visible dirt and large particles of even dog food that was left after I packed my dog's crate, and ironically enough- dust bunnies under several of the doors!
The appliances did look pretty good, however. The fridge and oven were both clean, and the sinks were definitely cleaner than we left them.
However- the floors were so bad I called them to express dissatisfaction with the cleaning. Mary, the lead Dust Bunny, took my call. When I asked if they forgot to do the floors- she said the last thing that was done was mopping, which tells me that the floors were done. However, when I explained the problem, she said if I was dissatisfied- she would come back to fix it. I told her that would be great, and she in fact did come back. However, when she got there I heard her say that she could tell the floors had not even been done. I call into question how something that simple could be overlooked, as there was visible dirt everywhere and even a balled up band-aid in the middle of my living room floor. My stairs had not been vacuumed- I could see the same dirt that had been there when we moved out. She was sweeping the house when I had to leave- and due to travel I could not make it back to evaluate the end product. However it would have been a rush job as the buyers were going to show up no more than an hour after I left.
My wife also said that when she greeted the Dust Bunnies and started to explain what we were unhappy with, that one of the ladies was a bit rude, stating "I don't care what it is, but since you called are unhappy with it I came back."
That's not professional. That isn't putting the customer first- after all we had just wrote a 250 dollar check- and had horribly dirty floors with food/bandaids/dust visible to the naked eye. My wife then was a bit short, and showed a particularly dirty portion of the house to her- to which the Dust Bunny cleaner said "it had not been cleaned at all."
I will attribute that comment of hers to frustration at having to redo a job, but it was upsetting to hear that. Mary had been nothing but kind to me, and my wife even said that when I showed up to talk to Mary that she was much less rude.
If the Dust Bunnies came to clean my home while I was at home supervising, I'm sure it would have been a better quality job. However, I'm sad to say I believe that I was taken advantage of when I told them that I wouldn't be home, and left them a key. I feel that they skipped out pretty quickly after I left- which calls their professionalism into question.
Pros: They did a decent job with the appliances and sinks, they came back and honored their pledge to return if satisfaction was not met
Cons: Oversight of the floors in that shape is unacceptable, claims to have mopped a floor that dirty leaves much suspicion in my mind regarding the quality of work, excuses were provided regarding who cleaned the floors (or failed to in this case), and no efforts were made to refund or credit back partial payment for an admittedly atrocious dirty floor- even by the owner. read more
