Was in Keansburg today and wanted rolls for our lunch. So I stopped in to the Dixie Lee bakery…read more Always remembered their great products from my time in the burg. I ordered two hard rolls . They looked great. Got home and just now was going to make lunch with them. I have to say so disappointed. I asked for two "hard" rolls and boy did I get them. They were more like day old hard rolls . Instead of being crispy they were rotted it seemed. Completely fell apart, crumbled at touch . No crunch or crispiness and my fingers pushed thru the outside surfaces like going into cardboard. Crumbled and felt so stale under these circumstances had to be at the minimum day old left out dried up rolls. I had heard they went down a bit down the "old" Dixie Lee, but this was embarrassing. Sorry David Burke, I expected so much more from you... I learned my lesson today.. off to J&M where I should have gone to begin with. And it's a shame. 3 yrs ago I was a fan. Not any more...

It took 10 minutes to tie 2boxes., n the amount of sting of my box was laughable. The shelves behind the counter were almost empty. No pastries, no cakes, none of this n none of that. It was the Saturday the day before Easter. They should have been stocked up, I'm not sure what's the traffic in the bakery but it looked dead. It was definitely not up to par. The cookies tasted ok, would i go back? No.

The building itself looks almost like an old diner--long and brightly colored. Inside is more of the same. There are a couple of round tables with diner-esque stools and a few chairs randomly placed in the center of the seating area. All of it contributes to a kind of endearing quality of the place. I was greeted with a friendly smile by who I believe is the owner. I opted for a small coffee and a biscotti, as I wanted something that wasn't too sweet. The coffee is self-serve, which I'm not a huge fan of as sometimes they aren't as fresh, but management seems to take care of this. My orange almond biscotti, while I was happy to be able to taste the hints of orange, was stale. Prices were fair, as my coffee and the biscotti were each $2. It's a bit chilly in the cafe and a little loud with the music but I was still able to get some work done. If it were a bit closer to home, I think I would frequent this cafe a little more, but I wish the owner all the success!

Even though I…read morearrived later than the suggested pickup time, my food was still warm when I got home -- which was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the blue raspberry lemonade, and it was the perfect combo -- not too sweet and not too tart. Such a delightful mix. Whenever I'm in town, I have to grab some kind of pork roll sandwich. This time I went with the Double Nooker on an everything bagel, toasted and scooped with SPK (salt, pepper, and ketchup). Yum, yum, yum. There's a lot of food packed in there, but having the bagel scooped made it the perfect amount -- super satisfying without feeling overly stuffed or risking a tummy ache. The spot itself is open concept and has tons of space if you want to sit and eat there, which makes it great whether you're grabbing something to go or staying to enjoy your meal.

I didn't see regular scallion cream cheese so I got bacon scallion cc on an everything bagel. They loaded on the cream cheese but the bagel itself was very average in quality. Service is very slow and the staff moves with no urgency. I liked that they have a self-serve coffee bar. Will probably be back only if it's convenient.
