FLOOR IT! Brake, release, turn, FLOOR IT!…read more (rinse, lather, repeat) I'm sure you've seen Rally events on TV; you know, those crazy guys driving really fast down narrow roads and sliding through turns kilometer after kilometer? Well, if you ever thought that you would like to try your hand at driving in one of those cars, Rally Connection is the place to go. The had 2 cars out today: Subaru, and a Ford MkII. Both are rear-wheel drive and ready to go with all the trimmings. I was in the Subaru, a favorite of mine, and it was awesome to be able to slide through turns and really learn how to drive fast, and in control. The instructors are very good as well. My instructor, can't remember his name, was very patient with me and had lots of great tips during each turn. They guide you through the whole course and you have the same instructor the whole morning. While I had driven in rally events (mostly very amature) it was good to have someone show me the lines, tell me when to brake, and most importantly; WHEN TO SPEED UP! Will I go back: you bet your ass I will! There's nothing like feeling the rear end start to slide while you maintain control the whole way through. This place is great, and I suggest that everyone should check it out.

The Trek was like six activities in one. We 1) got a classical riding lesson as we were all trained in Western riding. 2) We, of course, got to ride horses. 3) The scenery was magnificent. The vistas of the hills were brilliant. We got so many great family photos. 4) There were multiple history/archeology lessons as Clare, the owner, was full of information on the local ruins and the stonework left behind. 5) The wildflowers were beautiful and everywhere. My horse made sure to show me the best tasting leaves and grass. 6) Yoga: We got a horse yoga lesson at the end. Which helped us to stretch before we alighted (got off) our ride. We were told ahead of time that if it started raining the Trek may have to be cut short. If you spend any time in Ireland this is always a possibility. The risk is well worth the reward. I would have enjoyed even just 30 minutes of this tour. This ride was the best I have ever been on. The staff is super friendly. The son, who is nine, talked a poor young Frenchman's ear off, and later would not stop talking about how much he enjoyed the cultural exchange with him. Clare the owner was very down to earth, and her and all her staff showed joy in their horses, riding and their slice of Ireland. Very importantly, the horses were healthy and well cared for. You could tell they had affection for Clare and the staff.

Kiltorcan Raceway:…read more Our company booked a group Grand Prix session at Kiltorcan Raceway during September 2019. From start to finish everything and everyone at Kiltorcan Raceway was amazing and accommodating! The booking process was easy, on arrival the staff were extremely welcoming (there's also a seating area with pool table for use when waiting!). The way the race worked and all the rules of the Raceway were clearly explained and as it was a dull and rainy day we were offered protective jumpsuits and gloves to wear. Once we were all kitted out it was straight to the track! The karts were all ready and waiting for us and we were shown how to use them and had the opportunity to adjust the seating to our liking with a staff member. Once the practice laps and race were under way the staff were jotted around the track to be on hand should any karts spin out or hit the tyre walls. Once the race was over we had an award ceremony for the top three drivers as offered by the Raceway and they also accommodated our group bringing our own trophies for a longer award ceremony too! Altogether Kiltorcan Raceway was an absolutely brilliant activity for our staff day out! A really professional outfit with lovely and helpful staff I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who was looking for a group activity in the area!!

Out in the cold on a bright February morning is no place for a woman of creature comforts like…read moremyself, but I'm willing to make an exception if that morning is spent at this excellent equestrian centre. Spacious, well maintained and with in-and-outdoor riding rings, this is the place to go for introductions, refreshers or Olympic-grade riding lessons. Each grouping is managed well by centre staff and experienced students -watching a group of under-tens take their first few trots around an indoor ring, I was delighted by the positive encouragement of the instructor (and the high level of safety -lead holders for every horse waiting to help, protective vests and helmets all around... I don't remember all that in my horse camps!). Prices for adult instruction hover around the €30 mark. €32 for an assessment and a prepay 12 lesson package comes to about €27 per session. Kids Pony Play 40 minute sessions are just €20 and can be scheduled lesson by lesson - a great way to get a kid in the saddle without committing to more sessions than they might want. The centre isn't just for instruction though, and a brisk trade in horse-themed parties, day camps, shows and other horse-related activities. The community that's grown up around the venue is positively encouraged with canteen and cafe facilities, outdoor areas for picnics, plus an open and spotless livery barn where horses and ponies are stabled between riding sessions (and always appreciative of a well-mannered hello and gift of apples or hay). In better weather I'll be up here with boots and helmet on, till then I'll huddle on the sidelines!
