My husband has been insured with Meggan Smith's office for 13 years with multiple policies. He and…read moreI married 4 years ago and I joined his State Farm policy shortly after that and requested all the beneficiary information to be changed to me rather than my husband's ex-wife. My complaint with this office is multifaceted but is covered in two words as "gross incompetence." Over the years communication with Meggan to deal with insurance issues has always been difficult but here I'm going to highlight the 4 significant issues from within the past year. 1) last summer I called to change our coverage on our vehicles. Two months later I discovered that they had canceled full coverage on my primary vehicle rather than on the secondary one. I'm so grateful that I hadn't gotten in an accident during this time as it could have been tragic. 2) I was about to have a new baby last fall and my husband and I had decided to get a life insurance policy just in case of a catastrophe. She was sick almost every time I called. She did email me quotes from home while sick in bed but they weren't the variation that I had requested. It took another set of phone calls to try to reach her and get the correct ones. She was sick again and as she's the only person in her office able to give insurance quotes, or anything with the policy, I ended up having my baby before getting the specific quotes from her. 3) our van was just declared a total loss in a car accident, I called her office (as instructed to by claims) to see what my options where regarding coverage if I bought back the vehicle and paid out of pocket to have it repaired. Finally she wasn't sick and told me information that contradicted what claims told me... she said she'd call me back to confirm either way what the actual info was. That was a month ago and I still haven't heard back from her on it. And I told her it was urgent and I needed to make a decision within 5 hours. Good thing I had contacted a different agent and asked for my policy to be transferred! The other office confirmed what the claims office told me and bent over backwards to help me with the insurance situation with no guarantee that I would transfer my policy to them. 4) so the final icing on this cake... in the process of transferring our accounts, I realized that the beneficiary for my husband's insurance policy is still his ex-wife despite him having requested her to be removed from beneficiaries 5 years ago. In a nutshell, Just don't use this agent. Ever!
