As I was walking home from the gym one day, I came across this small bakery that is literally a hole in the wall. The definition of picada: hidden, tasty and cheap. The woman who runs this cooks everything herself in the back (with some help from other family members) and everything is all-natural with no additives, coloring or preservatives. The outcome? Deliciously fresh and flavorful products.
Their specialty are desserts, and they have a wide variety mostly Chilean specialties such as Colegiales, Blanquita and Torta de Yogurt. My favorite is the Kuchen de Pera (great for the cold winder days).
They also make whole cakes in advance and they are seriously cheap! A large kuchen is 5.500 (that is the same price in the supermarket, but with way better quality)!
They also sell anything you need for last minute birthday treats and if you need something savory they sell Pino and Napolitana empanadas.
The woman always is really busy but super sweet. I recommend this place over any minimarket or supermarket pastries as you know exactly where they come from. read more
