Everything we had was fantastic and the waiter and chef were very accommodating. Everything was great particularly the traditional menu items. The service was warm and friendly. Everything was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed sitting outside given we had just arrived from the US in early December. The plus here... most of the folks (other than us) seemed like neighborhood locals. When you're traveling, go where the locals go :) In fact we met the owner who was sitting at the table next to us with some German expats, which just added to the warmth and depth of our experience.

It taste a bit sweet (from the corn) and also savory. (2) caldillo de congrio: 3 stars. This is a fish stew. It tasted okay; not my favorite. (3) Chupe de Jaiba: 5 stars. This tasted like a hot crab meat dip to me. It was delicious. (4) Locos with mayonnaise: 4 stars. This is a Chilean seafood delicacy served with potatoes (5) Torres starter plate: 3 stars. This platter has cheese, prosciutto, salami, crostini and empanadas. It was our first time having these local food and we enjoyed it.

Had such a lovely experience eating at La Picantería!…read more After spending a week hiking through Patagonia/Torres Del Paine sleeping in tents and eating sandwiches, we were eagerly awaiting a nice sit down meal to celebrate, and La Picantería did not disappoint. The spot is located in a multi-level, beautiful shopping/dining center (for those from NYC, imagine an outdoor version of the Shops at Columbus Circle). The weather was beautiful, and it was so nice being able to enjoy the meal under the pleasant night air. Reservations are preferred during peak days/times, but we were able to easily walk in. All of the seafood/crudo/ceviche was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Their pisco menu was overwhelming (in a good way), and the drinks were great. Prices were extremely reasonable - we over-ordered food to share as a table, and everyone had multiple drinks, and I think we spent probably not much more than $50/pp. We all left with happy stomachs, satisfied taste buds, and slightly buzzed. Highly recommend this place if you happen to be in Santiago and want seafood!

The seafood is fresh, and the creative preparations are awesome. If you have never tried your fish "escabechado", I would highly recommend it. The service was great, the server will always advise on what seafood came in that day, what is fresh and how he would recommend it prepared. I would definitely recommend "La Picantería", as one of your MUST seafood restaurants in Santiago, Chile.

Great japanese peruvian fusion restaurant using the freshest ingredients…read more The decor is a mix of trendy and classical seating with large plush blue sofas. We had so many dishes including the arroz de mariscos, their version of paella, katsusando with wagyu steak and caramelized onions, pulpo, tori karage ( fried chicken), dumplings and camaron al pil pil. Everything was delicious and beautifully served. The server was really very helpful in our choices and they cleaned the table and changed the plates and silverware between each dish. The wine bottle ( Don Melchior) was one of the best in Chili and worth it. The only little annoyance was the loud music which did not fit this upscale restaurant . Maybe they pushed the trendiness factor a little too much. Otherwise, great restaurant.

It's located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Santiago and features indoor as well as outdoor dining options. We chose to dine outside and take in the ambiance of the beautiful poolside views. Let me just say- this meal was stellar in every way possible. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. Everything on the menu sounded so good, so we asked for suggestions to help us narrow down what to order. Ultimately, they steered us in the right direction. Everything we ate was magnificent. I started my meal with a mocktail. This was the BEST mocktail I've ever had in my life. It was called "Corinthians" and consisted of Greek yogurt, Elderflower reduction, vanilla syrup and fresh lemon juice and zest. WOW! This was such a satisfying drink. The smooth creaminess was the perfect complement to the seafood dishes to come, and I still have yet to try another mocktail that even comes close to rivaling it. For an appetizer, we had the Sake Tartar. This dish was out of this world delicious and creatively combines two of my favorite foods- raw salmon and passion fruit. The dish consisted of a finely chopped salmon tartar with a really vibrant, creamy sauce with some zing or as they call it "leche de tigre", ikura, passion fruit gel and vegetable chips. I am in love with this dish and would rank it as one of the top 3 best things I've ever eaten. It was just so good! We were also served a complementary Amuse Bouche that was a Peruvian Vegetable and meat hor d'ouvere that was so delicious- It was earthy and the textures were delightful. It was like a miniature work of art that bursted with unique flavors. For an entree, I decided to try this fish burger which was a an in house made minced fish and ginger patty served on a brioche bun with all the fixings. It too, was incredibly delicious. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Matsuri. Everything was perfect and I would come back in a heartbeat. The food, service and atmosphere were top notch. A MUST when visiting Santiago.
