The company I work for had this company do all the maintenance on their vehicles so I have spent…read moresome time here. I had a personal job for spark plugs to do on my own vehicle and thought I could trust them. The spark plugs were a design flaw 2 piece design that break off in the heads. You need a special tool which is $100 so I asked them to do it. The service writer Justin said they had the tool and could do the work. After complete I asked him if they broke any spark plugs and he replied "We didn't break any" I said "Great" and drove away. A week later I started experiencing problems. P0420 code which is for Catalytic converter plugged. I replaced that and then got a P0171 code, which is too lean. After several parts I decided to pull the plugs. #6 and #8 were broke off in the head and had to be extracted. The two broken plugs were loose not like the others. After removing all 8 it was found that they did not do the job. I sent a picture to Justin and he denied that they did not do the job. He said that they would do the right thing and make it right, but when I spoke with Bruce the owner he was very rude and just wanted to pay me off for the labor and spark plugs. He also denied that they did not do the job. More recently my company requested a quote for catalytic converter on a bus where it had been cut off. Justin quoted us $597 over on the price of the converter alone. If you get work done here get a quote, check the pricing and check to make sure the work was done right. Also request that Technician #76 does not do any work. That was the technician that didn't do the work and lied about it. In the pics provided you can clearly see the difference between the old design and the new one. You can clearly see rust on the old plugs so they are not newly replaced. When I showed Bruce the plugs he tried to tell me maybe I received old stock and still denied that they did not do the work. So much for doing the right thing! I don't like writing bad reviews, but in this case I believe I should warn people since your vehicle is your lively hood. We need shops who we can trust. I understand things break but be transparent with your customers and don't blame them for your mechanics wrong doing.

Master Transmission

Master Transmission

I can't say enough good things about Larry Skalet (the owner) and his team at Master Transmission…read more We were on a road trip from northern MN to AZ and our transmission went out in Detroit Lakes. It was Saturday at about 4PM. For starters, Larry was the only one who would answer the phone over the weekend. But he was willing to come out to DL that evening and get us if the car couldn't make it to Fargo (which fortunately it did). After we explained our dilemma to them (I had a work interview early that week and our son was starting a new school), they worked over the weekend to completely rebuild our transmission and got us out of there by Monday at noon. In fairness I did pay them a bonus to do so (my suggestion, they did not ask for it), but they absolutely pulled out all the stops to get the transmission done for us as soon as they could. In addition, their price was well under what I know a competitive bid is for a full transmission rebuild. If you're looking for designer coffee, Muzak and fluffy couches to sit on while you wait, you'll be disappointed. (However, all of those things are a $5 Uber ride down the road.) Their operation is pretty no-frills. But that's not what I'm looking for or want in a transmission shop... I want someplace that can get the work done quickly, well, and for a fair price. If that is what you're looking for, this is the place. They're just imminently decent people who do really solid transmission work. I know I'm the first review on Yelp for them, but please don't let that keep you from giving them a try. You won't be sorry.

My parents had to…read morefoot my repair bill because I wasn't working while in school, and the bill on my vehicle went rather high. Not once did he make a crack to me that "mommy and daddy have to pay my bills," neither did he give me "the funny look" associated with it. He is a true professional and I'm sure he understands the money-aspect of paying a bill for services rightly rendered. I moved from the area in 2010, returning in 2019, but 2022 is the first time that Mike started working on the major components on my vehicle. Financially, he's working with my wife and I, as our funding possibly dropped and the insurance to cover repairs is in limbo. Now, his work ethic is stellar. Mike and his team do outstanding work in a shop and at a location that one would expect to feel at home in. These guys do an outstanding job and stand behind their work. One mechanic in Fargo filled my oil with seven quarts of the synthetic that I brought in, telling me they had looked it up to inquire how much an '07 Ford Escape Limited would take (if they had, they would have noted it took six, not seven). A few weeks later, I had to have them suck out the one quart, which may have created problems with the a/c clutch assembly, which Mike's Auto Service repaired. I have no qualms or issues with having Mike and his team work on my vehicle and they will now continue working on it. Up to now, my vehicle (s) didn't need heavy-hitting service, but in the future, this gentleman has my business.
