My girlfriend ordered the razor clam appetizer. It never came. The orange juice didn't taste very good. The hash browns tasted like fake butter. I ordered my yak hamburger steak medium rare, and my girlfriend ordered her breakfast steak medium rare. Both came out well done. One thing I liked, though, was that they had Tiger Sauce on (some of) the tables (not ours). Tiger Sauce is made in my hometown, so it's nice to see it in another state. If I'm ever in Aberdeen again, I'll find somewhere else to eat. I'd seriously rather eat at McDonald's. read more

After spending the night at Pacific Beach, my friends and I were trying to find a place for lunch before the long drive home. Not much in the Aberdeen area has positive reviews...well, nothing that was open for lunch on Sunday (darn you Thai restaurants that weren't open until 4:30 PM!). We tried Duffy's because the parking lot was fairly full, and surely that many people couldn't be off their rockers. Well, apparently they were... The moment my friends walked in, they turned around and looked at me with disgust; we immediately knew we made a bad decision. We were welcomed by some slot machines at the front, plus some random books and maps being sold. The place looks and smells like it hasn't been cleaned since the 70s. But we pushed on knowing there weren't particularly better options in Aberdeen, and maybe the food would be better than the ambiance...? After sitting for a few minutes, the effect of the smell didn't wear off. (In fact, if you go to the bathroom, you will notice the smell again when you LEAVE the bathroom...never a good sign when a bathroom smells better.) So, I went into "what wouldn't make me sick here" mode and figured anything that went from a freezer directly into a deep frier might be safe. We ordered a fried seafood sampler, fries, chicken strips, and two friends courageously ordered (against my advice) oyster stew. The shrimp and scallops in the seafood platter were not too bad, albeit a little cold, but the oyster tasted strange, so we stopped eating them. The fries were good and actually the chicken strips were pretty delicious, but my friends described the oyster stew as tasting like "detergent". Since close to half the food wasn't edible and we were starving, we ordered another round of chicken strips plus onion rings. The onion rings were good, but the chicken strips didn't seem cooked all the way (or, at least, some of the batter wasn't). Topping off the experience was the check. Food at Duffy's is pretty dang expensive! Obviously, quality was low, but also for the price, the portions weren't really generous. You just kind of get a skimpy, small plate of whatever the main item was and that was it. I don't like giving 1- or 5-star reviews because there is always something worse or better, respectively. But when I ask myself whether I'd rather eat at Duffy's or McDonald's, I'm not sure...and that's scary because McDonald's is one of the last places I would ever choose to eat. Next time, I think we'll try waiting until Olympia and see what's there. read more

Let me sum it up. Use to be good back in the day (That's why old people still eat there). I remember when I was a kid it was good. Now it smells bad. I ordered a simple pasta Alfredo and couldn't eat two bites. I passed it back to the waitress and told her it tasted like they mixed it with chewing tabacco. We were driving back to Tacoma from Forks. Needed lunch so Duffy's was conveniently located right on Hwy 101. I ordered a Reuben for $15.99 & the side salad was $2.00 extra. The salad had lettuce that was starting to brown. The Reuben was was on smaller than average bread. It didn't have much meat; no Swiss cheese & no Russian/1000 island dressing. WHAT A RIP OFF - lousy, overpriced "food"... I had to be in Aberdeen for a family memorial service and we arrived early and hungry - this was a place my grandparents took us to lots when I was a kid - probably hadn't been there in 15 years and remembered it as an old school '70s/'80s family restaurant with good food, so for old times sake thought it was a good choice - Maybe that was just the rose colored glasses of youth? My hamburger was maybe a frozen 2 oz. patty before cooking, and after cooking was a dry, tasteless brown wafer on an oversized bun. The fries with it were completely flavorless. My partner's French Dip had two thin slices of deli roast beef, watery jus, and the side salad was iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and red cabbage, topped by a giant handful of croutons, too much dressing and seasoning salt - not even an unripe tomato wedge or cucumber slice as garnish. We added a cup of hot tea and an iced tea and our check was over $26! If the food had been decent, I really wouldn't have cared, but the food sucked, and our waitress came to take our order, dumped off the food and ignored us the rest of the time. The only person who seemed friendly was the bus boy. I wasn't expecting "big city quality" but certainly thought I'd get something I wouldn't be pissed off to be served. Really wish we'd just hit one of the fast food joints on the strip coming into town - would have been a lot cheaper and better tasting. I agree with Yelper Diane H - one star is generous. read more

My parents and I stopped by here on our way back from Ocean Shores. We had saw the sign earlier in the day about their pie. We were sat right away in the back, the restaurant itself was pretty quiet and our server, Debbie B was so darn nice, conversational, and very attentive to us. All we really wanted was dessert and coffee so when it was time to order, I got a blackberry pie slice a la mode, my mom got the slice of chocolate silk pie and my dad got the bread pudding. The food then came out almost immediately after placing the order. All of our desserts were amazing, we each tried a bite, and I'd say my blackberry pie was the most delicious I've ever had! If we were ever back in Aberdeen, I'm sure we'd stop in here again for more dessert and coffee! read more

The food was ok. The French dip was lacking flavor and ingredients it was just a few and I mean a few slices of beef and bread with dip and fries... for 15 bucks. There swedish pancakes with 1 egg, 2 bacon was 11 bucks and very simple and not at all filling. There homemade pie was 6.70 for a slice.... a slice. And their cinnamon roll was ok but when you got it it was swimming in a bunch of melted frosting that was a huge waste. read more

I don't understand the low rating handed out to Duffy's. Perhaps it is because many younger people these days consider themselves "foodies", and it is these same people passing to and from the beach through Aberdeen, whether they be from Seattle or Portland. Aside from their proudly advertised Yak, you won't find anything fancy or modern at Duffy's. What you get is standard steakhouse/diner fare, but that's okay. All of our food was prepared well, with nice portions. The waitress didn't say much, but she was consistent with drink refills and had a friendly attitude. The biggest setback of this establishment is their prices. For two separate dinners (steak and salmon), our bill + tip came close to 50 dollars. If you're going to charge that much for a meal, it should come with two sides, not a choice of potato or vegetables (if you decide you want both, you get charged 5 extra dollars). Soft drinks were also 3 dollars, which was a little overpriced. I'd eat at Duffy's again, but next time I'll spring for something a bit cheaper. read more

Wow, I'm sorry to see all the negative reviews of this place. I had a good experience! I decided to sit at the counter instead of the booths (it was "seat yourself" time). The counter is extremely LOW. I had never seen a counter that low. It could have been made low for the purposes of wheel chairs and ADA, but then again, if the chairs are bolted to the floor and you can't remove a chair for a wheel chair, what's the point? Let's just say, if you are "older..." the counter is a bit of an effort to sit down. I'm pretty healthy, but it was a little bit of an effort for me. Recommend sitting in the booths, not the counter. If you go here for breakfast, make sure you are wide awake, as you will be subject to the "major decision tree." "Do you want biscuits, toast, or English muffin?" ME- Toast "Do you want white, wheat, or rye?" ME - White At that point, I'm surprised the food server didn't take it all the way to "Do you want Day Old or Freshly Made?" Do you want butter or no butter? I wasn't prepared for a "decision tree.' I ordered crab and cheddar cheese omelet. This is one of their pricier breakfasts at $14.99. And it's worth it! They did not skimp on the crab there was a lot of crab. REAL crab, not the fake stuff. And enough melted cheddar cheese. Hash browns came with it. In fact, when it was served, I got hit with another "decision tree." I was asked not only did I want Tobasco Sauce (yes) but did I want green or red? Holy cow. I'm surprised the food server didn't take it all the way to "Do you want the REAL Tobasco sauce or the fake imitation made by a copy cat?" Now, this is a "mom and pop" place, so you won't get your meal as fast as you would at the major restaurant chain that starts with a "D" that is famous for breakfasts. But my breakfast did come within a reasonable amount of time, and they do give you stuff to read while you are waiting. It's one of those things that have ads and jokes. The jokes were cute! No room to park an RV here, even if the parking lot is empty. The entry way is too sharp a turn for an RV to get in. This will be the last time we eat at Duff's. We came in on Sunday around 12:30. There were maybe a dozen customers and three servers. Not exactly a "Sunday Rush". Table crusty from last night diners. The restrooms were dirty. Carpet smelled. Prices are over the top for the food they serve. $16 for three piece fish and chips (chowder or salad was $3 extra). Fish was good. Chowder was good (Not worth $3 a cup). Fries smelled like stale grease. Service was slow with no smiles. It looked like the servers didn't enjoy working there. read more

My hope is that the review helps the restaurant to improve. Our family does not dine out often, and so when we do, it tends to be for specific or special occasions. This time was in order to cap off a one-day beach vacation with my parents as the weather wasn't wonderful and we wanted to end our time together in a positive way. However, there was much that was positive to say about our time in the restaurant. Instead of relaxing, it was stressful. We felt that the server was overly busy and it felt like we were annoyances to her although we tried not to overtax her in anyway and worked to be apologetic about requests as well as overly polite (we are always considerate and polite to people so in other words - we were working to make her happy about being our server). First the wrong beverage arrived for my son. She did replace it with the correct beverage. Next, my oldest son's fish came to the table with a long, dark hair in it. Most of us were nearly done dining when his new order finally arrived. My middle son reported later, after we had left, that his pancakes didn't taste fresh - he said that they tasted like frozen and reheated. Lastly, my youngest son's apples were not fresh either. They were packaged and treated with some sort of preservative in order to keep them from browning. I tried them as well - they were awful. We conveyed this to our server in order to warn future customers about ordering these. She did seem sympathetic and thankful that we explained the problem. No-one else had any problems with their food. I had breaded chicken strips and they tasted fine. The fries were really good. We paid the full bill, left a 20% tip and left. We will never return to this restaurant again. I guess what really irritated me overall was: substandard food that we paid good money for ($7 for frozen pancakes is a lot!), no apologies in any way for the hair in the food (so, are hats and hairnets not required? What about other food-handling measures?), this was a pricey diner and if I am choosing to pay for a meal out then I have higher standards for the meal. Lastly, we could tell that our server was normally a kind person, but for some reason today was not her day and it showed. read more

It's good if you want a greasy breakfast but I'm usually more than a little disappointed with the quality of the meal when it arrives. They're known for their pie, but when we got it it was a fairly small piece and very expensive. I've been here for breakfast during the week and it hasn't been half bad, but this is my first attempt at spinning in the weekend. I ordered the Swedish pancakes, which were good, but ordered a side of 2 scrambled eggs that came on a sudden plate and were less than 1 egg worth. I wouldn't care about that much but I believe it was $2.49 to add them. Ridiculous! When we came in, the owner pointed at a clean both and handed us the menu withoutever stepping away from the register. Worse than that was the service. We did not know what to expect given the 2.5 star rating. We actually almost left before we even got out of our car! We are very glad that we stayed to enjoy the excellent service and delicious food! The portions are humongous! The chicken parm was bigger than the plate and full of flavor! The grilled cheese with ham was a delicious reminder of my youth! The clam chowder was flavorful but not overly so... I loved it and my younger son and I fought over my cupful! The turkey club was delicious and picky eater approved! All of the waitresses we have had do not seem to want to be there. Not very friendly and in a hurry. We often receive our bill before we are even done. We stopped into Duffy's on our way down from Forks, WA to Portland, OR. We'd been looking for a place to eat for over two hours so when we saw Duffy's we were excited. It was packed which I took as a good sign. The restaurant was dirty. We had to wait ten minutes to be seated and that wasn't on a wait list. We just stood by the "wait to be seated" sign for ten minutes before someone noticed us. It took over an hour from when we ordered to get our food. The food itself bordered on inedible. I ordered chicken fried steak. What came out looked like a block of wood and tasted even worse. There was so much salt I couldn't even eat it. My friend ordered the corn beef and hash and also said hers was not edible. The jelly was good so we ate toast and jelly for breakfast and paid over $30 for it. To add insult to injury we both spent the next 12 hours making frequent stops at bathrooms because of the explosive diarrhea it gave us. read more

But more so, the staff is completely unprofessional, racist and rude. especially the lounge staff. Kim, a bartender is a lousy service person with poor service skills. Who complains about the establishment they work in?? Terrible service to compliment the lousy food. They do not deserve to be in business. Dont waste your money and time. We went in for a drink in the bar area and there was no social distancing what-so-ever. People were huddled around watching a sports game, there was a group of at least 10 people all within a foot or less of one another - half of them didn't have masks on. I left because I wouldn't dream of eating in those conditions, clearly the staff just don't care. read more
