You know this place is amazing because there are lots of locals lining up at any given time. I went to this sandwich shop with a vegan friend and oddly enough they had a vegan sandwich here that actually tasted good, like really good. They had some sort of spicy sauce with sautéed greens and it tasted amazing. I don't know how they did it. So big props to them. These guys know how to make their sandwiches. I had a sandwich with some sort of sliced meat and mozzarella, I can't get over the amazing mozzarella. You can't go wrong with any sandwich here and the best part is you can make your own if you want to. Their bread is amazing of course. They had table service at the back and also a couple of tables in the front. It's usually really crowded so you can take your sandwich to go. The sandwich shop is really close to St. Peter's square and the Vatican museum, so this could be your quick lunch while site seeing in this area. In the end I wanna say Subway you have nothing on this place and this place costs less that what you charge. I wish they open up a store in NYC. read more

I've been living here for awhile now and this is by far the best panini I've had in Rome. For €7 the Cairoli with prosciutto, ricotta, figs, and mint leaves is amazing. The menu is in English and Italian and it's located right outside the Vatican. read more

WOW! What a great little gem near the Vatican. After spending the entire morning at St. Peter's Basilica we stopped here before heading to the Vatican Museums. The bread was soft and tasty. Honestly, the panini was just okay. There are definitely better panini places near by. I got the risorgimento and the panini was dry and not as spicy as I expected. The reason I'm giving this place two stars is because as we were trying to pay the cashier tried to scam us. Our bill came out to 50 euros but we put down 60 euros and needed change back (it was a group of 5 so we each needed to pay 10 but one of my friend only had a 20 so that's why we put down a total of 60). So we were asking for change for that 20 but the cashier legit took all our cash and said it was enough and once I said something she counted the money again and gave us our ten back. I was hesitant to eat here walking in because it had that chain look as opposed to an authentic shop with meats hanging in the window etc. unfortunately the end result was as expected. I can't speak highly enough of this little place. If you're looking for somewhere to sit down and enjoy a fine meal, look elsewhere in Piazza Risorgimento. But if you want fresh, cheap, and delicious panino and a cold beer to drink alongside, come on in! I've been here around 5 or 6 times, and only waited in a long line once. There is a huge menu board with plenty of options for every palate and dietary need (vegetarian, dairy-free). You can watch them make your sandwich so you know they are fresh. The only difficulty was choosing which panino to order! p.s. I'm not 100 percent sure how late this place is open, but I've been at 3 and 4 am and it was still open, so it makes a great late-night stop before heading to the nearby bus stop home! read more

Loved the sandwiches, but one note of caution. I love roast pork sandwiches, so the Sant'Ignazio sandwich seemed to be just the ticket! I would say this place makes pretty good paninis but nothing too amazing. They seemed like a new and hip place that the children would call "lit" or "tubular." It had a good collection of paninis that were relatively inexpensive. I would say I have had better paninis elsewhere. Located close to the Vatican museum entrance, this sandwich shop is a nice spot away from the blazing heat and is relaxing with Acoustic rock mellow artists. The sandwiches we ordered were the Risorgimento and campo de fiori. Both were excellent and despite the 3 star spicy rating of the fiori, it was at best, mild for those that are spicy eater. You can't ask for a better sandwich or deal! 5-6 euro for a sandwich that can easily be shared. I usually love big portions, but one sandwich can be shared by two hungry people. Dropped in to grab a bite. Beef carpaccio panini with tomato, some salad. And lemon. It was okay. Bread was super hard. Thin pieces of meat. Not like the states. 6 euros. Unfortunately I have to rate this so poorly because of the terrible service. I went there twice while staying in Rome. The woman who served us named "Lady" was very rude. The second time I went, they made my sandwich wrong, so I asked them to correct it, which they relucted to do so. I will not come back due to terrible customer service. After you leave Vatican City, use whatever energy you have left in your body and feet and carry yourself past all of the cafes and food stands right outside of Vatican City and over to Duecento Gradi. It will be well worth it! It's a little difficult to find -- It's a little restaurant right on the corner with a patch of grass across the street. I stopped for a "panino" and cold Coke before taking the tram back to my hotel. The prosciutto, mozzarella, sundried tomato and pesto panini was great, as was the dessert panini with chocolate hazelnut spread and semi-sweet chocolate chip (I couldn't resist!). Not sure why there are so many good reviews about the paninis but for us the food was just meh! We got 2 paninis.. risorgimento and sole. The sandwiches were bland and didnt have much meat in them. They seated my family of four in less than a minute during peak lunch hour. We had no idea this was a panini place and couldn't tell from the menu. For all we knew, we were ordering entrees or salads. Meh! Minor missed detail while yelping plus zero Italian language skills. Anyway, went a little crazy with ordering (we had just landed from a 14 hour plane ride): lemony sardine, spinach and sundried tomato, and roast beef paninos were massive, exploding with flavor, had and much loved. My octopus carpaccio panini was super fishy and super excellent. I said 'man!! this is very fishy' about 20 times in my first 2 bites, then I got used to the fishiness and was in octopus heaven for the rest of my sandwich. Best sandwiches on the planet. Was in Rome a couple years ago for four days. We stopped by here tree times. Da pope lives right next door and the 200 sauce can be used to substitute toothpaste. The freshest breads and meats. Open later than all the surrounding bars. Grabbed a birra and a Sammy twice after three a.m. Love this place. Can't wait to get back to Roma and and feast at Duecentogradi. Grazie! read more
