This Duck Donuts is AMAZING--it is the first one I went to and the experience was so much fun. Ashton was incredibly helpful in crafting our flavor combos and she had fantastic suggestions (raspberry/blueberry combo; smores; the trashcan if you're brave). The entire staff was enthusiastic and helpful and I can't wait to go back. Coffee was good too. The other Duck Donuts locations I've been to (at home in North Carolina) don't even come close (though the donuts are still pretty good). Highly recommend this location. read more

Can't get hotter donuts than here- They're fast, simple, and delicious when you get your tray. They're just the right amount of softness on the inside, and cooked on the outside. I come here when I can (but not too often ;)) PSA weekends (especially Sundays) are very busy there! read more

Used to go here as a child when my family went to North Carolina. Now it is across the street from my work place...cue in the weight gain to come. Fried to order, around 10 different icings, and 6 different toppings, which makes the possibilities endless. Usually get maple with bacon and recently tried glazed with cinnamon sugar on top. A bit pricey around $7.00 for half dozen. But considering these are so rich and fried you usually can only muster down 1 or 2. Took away one star because I tried to order some ahead of time by calling since I wasn't going to eat them that night. The girl on the phone was rude and told me no one was in line that I should just come in. Tried to explain I understood they were better fresh but I wanted these for the AM the next day. I'm not sure I've ever had a better donut. We inadvertently went on National Donut Day so we got a free donut for each two we purchased. It was busy but we didn't wait long and it was more than worth the wait. We ordered vanilla icing with bacon and raspberry, peanut butter with chocolate, vanilla with oreo, cinnamon sugar, powdered and maple with bacon. Maple with bacon was the BEST!!!! Delicious donuts! The difference is that they are served hot off the line. I don't typically like cake donuts, but having them hot is a totally different experience. As my husband puts it, "it's like I ate cold french fries my whole life and then I tried hot french fries for the first time!" It's also fun to watch the donut machine, especially for kids (there is a little step for them to stand on and see over the wall). Great place! read more

Absolutely awful - I can't even leave a review for the quality of their donuts because they had me waiting TWENTY minutes for a single one. Order of one donut. They had one employee creating dozens or donuts. After waiting the 15 minutes and seeing that they had only done 3 orders (up to #38 - I was #45), I went up to the counter to ask for a refund. The employee signaled over the manger - who I then waited another 5 minutes to just come press a few buttons and issue me my refund. When the employee came back over she had to signal the manager over again who said "just a few minutes" - at which point I promptly walked out of the store without my refund. This manager SERIOUSLY needs to take a Management 101 Class and Duck Donuts should be embarassed to have someone like that running a franchise. I have already shared my experience with the several student organizations I am involved with and we will be sure to not visit Duck Donuts again. So thank you, Duck Donuts, for a terrible start to my Friday morning. read more

Well from Duck North Carolina is the taste of Charlottesville we will come to love they make donuts fresh to order and it's like our local Krispy Kreme if you're in town you have to try it. The doughnuts here are unbelievable. They made them fresh and they were fantastic. Prices were not bad. According to the Owners Daughter, they recommend the blueberry glaze with Oreos and a raspberry drizzle. 10/10 would recommend this doughnut and this place. read more

Omigish! Who wouldn't love a fresh donut shop! I had such a great time watching the little donuts float into the donut machine and come out of the other end. Then, the fact that you could choose toppings and have them be put on right there. It's like the subway sandwiches of donuts! I had the cinnamon and sugar topping on mine and it was just delicious. Yummy! Theses Donuts are delicious! Always hot and crisp on the outside and tender on the inside! The glazes are excellent, we have tried the chocolate, lemon, strawberry and maple and also the cinnamon and sugar ( my favorite) and powdered sugar. Sweet Holy Jesus this is the best donut I've ever had! I had no idea cake donuts could be so good. Only minor complaint I had is that the staff (other than the manager) did not seem to want to be there but I completely forgot about that the moment I bit into my donut. My fave fresh, made to order donut spot in town! While many still swear by spud nuts, this is the one for me. First experienced the delight that is duck donuts in Charlotte, NC. So worth every penny! My favorite is the chocolate glaze with coconut shavings. Cheerful, family friendly atmosphere.
