My sister had joined Hotworx shortly after Krystle did and I had been meaning to try a free class with them for some time. After setting up my initial free class with Haley the three of us managed to finally take one of these virtual sauna classes together. It was super fun and I was absolutely down to supplement my powerlifting workouts with these quick and intense workouts in the saunas. It's been a little over a month since I joined and I have loved being able to sign up for classes at any time of the day in a 24 hour period, being in the sauna by myself or the max of 3 people. It has been the perfect self care regimen I've needed since the weirdness of the pandemic and the world getting to a new norm. I know I'll keep coming back to this location to workout with my sister and Krystle as well as one that's opening up near where I live. Thank you Hotworx midtown for helping me realize what my mind and body need to be the warrior woman I am!

We tried a yoga class at my first class here and it was great! I have tried yoga at many other place before, but since you can probably only fit a maximum of maybe 3 people at most in a room at a time, I felt way more comfortable here than anywhere else I have ever done yoga in my life! Hotworx gets its name because, well, you get to workout in an infrared sauna! You definitely will sweat! After our workout was finished, I was able to take a tour of the studio and Haley was our guide. She is so helpful and friendly! She is definitely what made me want to come back for a second workout, after which, I did end up signing up for a membership. It is so worth it if you think about it! You can do so many different classes at different times of day! If you need to cancel, you can cancel about 2 minutes before class and you can sign up just before class starts as well if there is available spots! Hotworx is so convenient for a busy person!

It's challenging to write a review that helps provide…read morean adequate representation of my experiences in a way that helps inform the decisions of others. I appreciated some of the programming, some of my personal progress, and some of my friendships; for a while I saw my strength and skill develop, and my fitness changes to accommodate new modes and durations of training. I recently chose to end my membership. Ultimately... It was not the place where I could train or improve because of three things: inconsistency in coaching, constant offensive member misconduct, and a culture of favoritism set my the leadership. The Coaches I liked many of them as people, and many of them mean well and want to help. Not all of them possess the appropriate education, skills, or experience though. Some seem well-educated, well-trained, and very professional in their program delivery; others lack education or training or certification. Offense Member Conduct Allowed Member conduct from a few of the gym "favorites" was downright abusive and bullying. One member in particular harassed me personally several times online, in the gym's private Facebook group. I'm no push over; I pushed back. I discussed it with management, but the elites kind of rule the roost and I was encouraged to just ignore it. I witnessed many other examples throughout the year with other members getting attacked. I often tried reaching out to or helping those that got bullied when I could. I was also not alone in that the gym favorites could easily gang up on or push out less favored people, which happened from time to time. It honestly felt a bit like playground bullies. Much of it can be ignored if you just come in and do your workout. It was prevalent both in the clubs and online, but a lot of people just tried to ignore it. Culture of Elite Favorites Ultimately the management and leadership permitted a culture where the elite athletes were favored and catered to - with programming, with gym schedules, with behavior or attitude. I guess the rest of us were free to come along for the ride if we didn't mind, but ultimately for me it just wasn't tolerable long term. For me, I just wished that were obvious upfront. I'm just not the elite athlete guy... I'm the average guy hoping to be better. A few times the gym would close or they would cancel class or abandon the programming that day - unexpectedly, unannounced - because of the elite group. Which I can understand a bit but for the majority it just kind of sucks. Overall - If you want great programming, I think you'll like it. What you might not like is the environment and the way some people treat each other. And if you yourself become the target it can get pretty rough and ugly. I had thicker skin than most and let a lot of stuff roll off my back, but others quit instantly and had to pay out their contracts, which can be a few thousand bucks. Personally, for me, I just needed a great crossfit gym without the drama between the members, the staff, and the volatility in schedules and catering to the elite. I'm just a regular guy looking to be a little better every day, and this place was putting too much drama in the way of that simple (expensive) goal.

As a retired military veteran, I have never felt obligated to post a negative review about…read moreanything, until now. I have been a member at Crossfit Kinesis for more than three years. Everything was great until recently when I became injured. I was then exposed to a side of the owners, Kyle Kasperbauer and Nissa Cohen, that I had never seen before during my time as a client at CFK. After visiting my Doctor about foot and ankle pain, I was instructed not to participate in Crossfit for at least two months as my Achilles needed down time to heal. As the contract states, if a member develops an injury, he or she is allowed to place the membership on "Hold". I contacted Kyle and Nissa via Facebook Messenger to discuss my membership options while healing. I have saved all written and electronic correspondence. Kyle messaged me back via Facebook Messenger and stated, "In regards to your membership, please email info@crosffitkinesis.com. Nissa and I no longer handle membership holds or changes." This was an immediate red flag to me. For an owner to state, they are not involved with membership holds or changes is frankly, inconceivable. But, per their instruction I followed their process. I emailed info@crosffitkinesis.com on Jan 30, 2019 and received no response. I emailed again on Feb 1st with no response. I then contacted Kyle and Nissa via Facebook Messenger on Feb 5th stating that I did not receive a response from info@crossfitkinesis.com. I received NO RESPONE from Kyle or Nissa. It was clear to me, they were purposefully ignoring my questions to prevent me from placing my membership on hold. I drove to Crossfit Kinesis to address my concerns with Kyle and Nissa on Feb 11th, a full 12 days after my initial message to them. Nissa was present at the gym, but not available to talk. I was able to talk to Kyle privately. I explained to Kyle my disappointment with him and Nissa and their process. As a business owner myself, this is not how I do business and it's not how I expected to be treated as a paying member. Kyle was defensive but did apologize and assured me that whomever this "mystery person" is that has been assigned to monitor the info@crossfitkinesis.com would be dealt with. His response was comical and somewhat incoherent. It is painfully obvious that he is fully aware of what is going on and he and Nissa are hiding behind the info@crossfitkinesis.com to ensure they do not lose the residual income. My understanding is that several current and ex-Kinesis members have experienced the same treatment when dealing with injuries, membership holds or leaving Crossfit Kinesis. I would encourage all of you to take a stand and not tolerate poor treatment from a business who does not appreciate their clientele. Kyle and Nissa preach of community and bible verses. They walk that path as long is it does not affect their bottom dollar. Shame on both of them. Arrogance and ego, along with a lack in the understanding of what it truly means to be part of a community, are Kyle and Nissa's downfall. Do what's right for your community, clients and members regardless of how it impacts you financially. #Dissapointed Armondo Canales

I went here first back in 2012 when it was the original Aspen, and about 90% of it is still the same. They finally got some new cardio equipment (previously, about half didn't even work) and a few new weight options, but that's about all that's been done. It just feels run down and dirty, including that old low-pile carpet on the gym floor that I'm not sure when it's ever been cleaned. There doesn't seem to be a lot of accountability with their staff. I've seen some of the trainers using it as their playground, many without shoes (which is a club rule to wear them). I've also seen some of the exercises and lifts they've allowed their clients to do, poor form and unsafe. I would not trust many of the trainers here. There have also been multiple times where the person opening wasn't there so I'm up at 5am for nothing. I do want to caveat that some of the front desk staff, a few trainers I know have been there for a while and a few of the group class teachers are nice and know what they're doing, but these other bad actors have left a bad taste in my mouth and make me question the standards that upper management holds. I might consider going back when they renovate the place, but who knows when that will be. Plus I'm sure the price will go way up then since it would be a "premium club." They've noted that it's "on the list" which is their excuse to not fix other things now. There's one sink in the women's locker room that has been unusable for over 2 years. I don't use the showers, but other members have expressed them not working well or even at all some times. We plan to be residents of this area of town for a long time, and I hope to see solid improvements here in the near future so we can enjoy this convenient gym again.
