There's a farmers market every second Saturday! Went in for honey, and left with candles and baked…read moregoods. Vibes are wholesome with the live music, cool vendors and at least one dog that's gonna be more popular than you at your peak. Hehe

So we did, but then the usher said we needed to redeem that at will call. Just seemed their system isn't very modern. It's also not that cheap. The air conditioning definitely wasn't on in the summer and they charge a convenience fee but say the shows are priced "low" to share events with everyone, which seemed disingenuous. If I may wrap in the show to the review, we went to see the music of Burt Bacharach which was scheduled for 2 hours. The jazz renderings were fine, singer and band were competent but not well known, but they only did an hour of Bacharach, about a half hour of random songs, then left early, possibly to beat the traffic. My mom was so disappointed as she listed all the song she hoped to hear and didn't. They definitely had time to cover a lot more of what they promised and just didn't. I did a follow up survey on this and for a form response. Plenty of parking and the ushers who were volunteers seemed nice. The venue could be decent for small shows if the AC is turned on. The show was definitely overpriced for what it was. It would make a decent lounge show while we had drinks. The ticketing system, comfort, and show were all lacking for me.

I had been to HCC plenty of times before and did not know this existed until learning about the special exhibit for the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival. Covid 19 procedures - Access is free, but you have to make an appointment online as they are taking care to limit capacity. The appointment system is easy to navigate. I even cancelled and rescheduled my original appointment due to a conflict and the process was easy. You have to wear a mask and others on campus are wearing masks. They have signs navigating you where to find the gallery on campus but thankfully a friendly campus officer asked if I needed help. He directed me exactly where to go and saved me the trouble of getting lost on my own. My appointment was on a Thursday evening as this is the day with the latest hours. My appointment started on time. The employee helping me was friendly and gave me space as I looked around. I was the only one there so it felt like having my own private showing which was cool. It is a very small gallery inside the school's library. It has a space for special exhibits on one floor and then a main gallery on the floor up. I definitely look forward to going back for other special exhibits.

In addition to featuring hard-to-find art, Gallery 221 located at the Hillsborough County Community College Dale Mabry Highway campus is quite simply a bit hard to find. But those willing to make the effort will be well rewarded for finally finding a parking spot, figuring out which cluster of buildings it's housed in and making the trek through the campus to the second floor location. There is also a satellite exhibition area of sorts one floor above the gallery that showcases works be different artists that those highlighted in the main exhibition space. Space may be minimal but curators manage to make the most of the display area by featuring really interesting works of art and installing it in creative ways. Based on the grounds of the bustling Hillsborough Community College Campus there is always activity that balances well with the creative energy exhibited here. The only drawback to the campus connection is that fact that the gallery remains dark during extended holiday breaks when classes are suspended. The current exhibit "Sacred Folk" features wonderful, whimsical selections of folk art through June 21 but watch out for summer hours when the gallery is closed on Fridays.

This is such a cool little quilt shop! I'm not really a quilter but I wanted to pop in after an…read moreappointment nearby and see what this store was all about. There were a few ladies working who were all super friendly. The only fabrics (barring I think two bolts of solid cotton knit and some utility type fabrics) are quilting cottons. There are many options, and a great assortment of indie patterns, quilting focused notions, interfacings, thread (mettler, the best brand imo), and an assortment of machines. I asked about service costs for my serger that hasn't been serviced since it was purchased nearly 25 years ago. I was quoted $165 which I think is pretty reasonable. I loved all the little finished projects (especially the cute flamingo bags!) and the nice workspace in the back. The store is super clean and feels new.

I do continue to shop and purchase my supplies and fabric from S&S!! I love the variety of fabrics available and of course the friendly staff. I feel like I have stepped into my family home with everyone saying hello and asking about my current life events...it's welcoming like I am visiting all my Aunties and Home. As a Native American, family means everything and I always feel welcomed at Scrap & Sew as soon as I walk in the store. I'll continue to shop and visit the store and I hope you will too.
