The labyrinth is a huge Medieval-pattern design by American artist Arabella Lennox-Bloyd in 2009, constructed from granite setts and cobbles in grass. It's huge. Labyrinths have become very popular in hospices and hospitals these days, but I have to say that I don't like walking this one very much, primarily because of the use of cobbles in the centre of the paths, which makes it very uncomfortable to walk, especially given the size of the pattern. I often find myself walking on the edges of the path on the way back out as my feet are sore from walking on the uneven cobbles. However, it is a nice complement to the wonderful architecture of the Maggie's Centre and is quite peaceful to walk on a sunny day. I also like the Anthony Gormley 'iron man' sculpture that overlooks your walk from the bank.
