Strolling past here in the stifling heat a few weeks past, arriving at a fully air-conditioned Marks and Sparks in a petrol station was truly a moment to savour. It was wonderfully freezing inside, and despite it's small size they seem to cram in everything you could want. My current favourite find is a meditteranean rice and chorizo snack tub thingy, that's on a 2 for £3 offer just now and tastes far more exciting than it sounds. It is in a petrol station, so expect a fiery, horrifying end if someone drops a fag outside, but for me it all just adds to the excitement of a Marks and Spencer's shopping trip.

I am a seriously lazy car-owner and hate getting my car washed. I actually don't even remember the…read morelast time my car was washed, but on the weekend I realised it was seriously manky and so headed here. The car wash is a little hard to get to if you enter from Eaglesham Rd, so best going in via the Ayr Road entrance. You also need to pay inside for the wash, so make sure you do that before you get in the queue. For a basic wash it was a crazy-bargain price of £3 and did the job - my car came out nice and shiney. It's more expensive if you want a blow-dry but I figured mine could just air dry. It's also a petrol station, and inside they sell all the things you'd expect of such an establishment. It does the job, but I still prefer the BP garage down the road.

This one can be handy if you're looking for a car wash as it's a lot bigger than the car wash at Mears Cross, but I guess it depends on what you're after. It also does fuel and the shop inside has a decent selection. There's a cash machine out the front.

I must admit, the handful of times it has happened it's been pretty embarrassing sitting by the side of the road waiting for rescue and having to acknowledge that I knew I was running out and kept driving anyway ... surely I'm not the only person who does this?! Anyway, I digress. I know this petrol station well, they have a good selection of newspapers/magazines, drinks and snacks and the staff are friendly. It's not really the most modern petrol station and could do with a refurb on the inside. All in all though, when I stop here I can refill quickly and easily and get on the road again.

Hence, it's handy, well used and serves it's purpose extremely well. The prices aren't great - but then nowadays etc etc etc...- though they aren't too extortionate. Meanwhile, the attached shop is a decent size and has all the usual bits and bobs. This is useful for the last minute buys on the way home: teabags, late night pot noodles, pick me up chocolate and, of course, a cheap bunch of flowers to take along to Sunday lunch at the folks.
