When we said we wanted a natural wood bench and mantel, preferably mesquite, our fabulous contractor, Attila, researched options. He drove over and met the owner, Clyde, and then told us, "you have to see this place!" We couldn't believe the variety of timber in the Top Tread workshop. We were amazed to find a slab of mesquite wide enough and long enough for both pieces. They finished the wood beautifully and it was ready a week later at a reasonable price. No question - Clyde could be based anywhere in the country and stay busy with the kind of big custom projects he has completed all over. If I could rate 0 stars I would…read more I had a contractor cancel on a sod prep and installation the morning of. I was stuck with fresh sod that needed to be installed the same day. I went through a list of contractors to see if anyone was available. Monarch texted me back promptly. Saying he could get some guys out asap, to do the leveling prep work and install the sod. I asked for a little reduction in his quoted price, he said because they had to sift through the soil and level that it needed to be that much. I asked how many guys would come out. He said 3. Reason I asked is bc we were heading out of town that day so I wanted to make sure it was done in a timely manner. He said he could have someone there in an hour. He requested half up front as he was sending guys from sierra vista. Which I thought was shady but I was in a bind and didn't have a choice. 2 guys showed up 3 hours later. 1 in a sedan 1 in a motor cycle. No tools! We both assumed the 3rd guy would show up with the tools. He never did. They proceeded to use our tools (without even asking) Long story short---took about 20 minutes to flatten out some dirt. Did no sifting and just ended up laying sod on top. Such a shotty job. After they left, contractor demanded second half of payment, I proceeded to say how terrible it looked and I saw them lay the sod over the rocky soil. He then proceeded to threaten me saying he needed to pay his guys for work or they were going to come back. They even took some of our gloves and left all the leftover trash. Out of abundance for caution and safety I tried to agree to a lower amount instead of a full refund. I didn't want to have these guys coming back to our house! After 45 minutes of him saying he was not at fault, he finally agreed to a $500 reduction. After I paid, he texts me and says the guy said he leveled it. I will now be reporting them. I feel completely taken advantage of. BEWARE! This is a shady not professional business!!

Huge rant for Mitchell's Remodeling! Firstly this was planned to start the first week of April…read more2022, but they didn't put me in the books (so forgot about it) then blamed me for not telling them everything was ready till the Friday before. Then they didnt get a permit (I thought they did) so a stop work order happened and instead of dealing with that, they had a vacation planned (and I understand that but they could have started the permit or did it online instead of not doing anything at all and blaming me everytime we talked) then when they got back they wouldn't be able to come back to finish the work till August. I hired another company to finish. They were not impressed with the starting of the wall as it was crooked and bearly deep enough.
