Tl;dr: Perfect afternoon activity for golfers of all skillsets -- can get busy as the workday ends so plan according to your crowd tolerance! Went here on a Friday afternoon. The bays are cheaper before 1pm so we got a 11:45am bay for two hours. We were a little late so we were worried that they would give up our bay or we would lose time on our two hours HOWEVER, the time starts once you actually get to your bay! So we were elated. We got signed in and started up, decided to go with a kill-the-monster game which was a fun way to start and get competitive! Our ball hopper/dispenser machine kept needed to be manually reset but our waitress was AMAZING and was very patient with us. She even went to their facilities manager and tried to get a more permanent solution and when they couldn't give her one, she apologized and kept hopping back over to us to help us. She even was kind enough to give us more time for time lost due to the machine stalling. If you were our very kind server... we LOVE you and thanks for making our visit enjoyable. Since Fridays are our celebration days, we ordered some drinks: Two aperol spritzs and one beer. The aperol spritz were tasty and had an appropriate amount of sparkling wine and aperol! We also ordered the sliders, chicken tinga tacos, and the nachos. Everything was tasty, however this review lost one star due to the tortilla chips being stale. Not every chip, but more than half. I was too hungry to say anything, but theres a difference between tortilla chips that have gone soft due to topping moisture, and a bad-textured stale chip-- unfortunately I had majority of the latter. Horrible customer service. I understand the place gets busy so does Top Golf in Charlotte and they showed 110% better service. I put my name on the list driving from north Durham at 6:40pm and was told it would be a 3 hour wait and wait for a text back. Cool we estimated 11ish honestly they closed at 2am so we were fine with that. I received my text back the next day Sunday at 10am when they opened. Ridiculous! I called and said how could I possible get there in time when I assumed I was never getting a text and I got one the next day I live in Durham. The guy said that was "odd" took my number down and said he would call me back. You think I got a phone call back? You guessed it didn't get anything. We've been trying to go for over 3 weeks and planned accordingly this time and still was handed a horrible experience without even going inside. In one week I went to Drive Shack 3 times! Yep... I'm that guy. It all started off as something I really wasn't interested in until I tried it! This crap is so addicting. Once you get the hang of hitting the balls (I am NOT a pro,semi pro, dreaming pro, non of the above) type of golfer. I really love social spots where I can hang out with friends and mingle... this has to be Raleigh's hottest social hangout spot right now! The golfing is a plus! They have a bar on the second floor that is full to the brim on Fridays and Saturday nights! People love this place! If you have a large party of people they have private rooms and you can even reserve bays that are next to one another. On top of that they will even rearrange the seating so you can all mingle.... OMG... how awesome is that! The staff are always so help. These people really love their jobs and you can tell. The Pricing... now I've read mixed reviews about the pricing. I must say that I love it! If you bring 6 people to a bay (including yourself) take and split that $45 per hour (cost for bay rental after a certain time of day, normally night) between each person. When I go with a group I will end up spending around $7-$10 per game which lasts an hour! That includes your clubs, the balls, the service AND THE HEAT that you can turn on to keep you warm! Now the food is a bit pricey but come prepared. Already make note that the Lavender Lemonade (which is a drink dropped from Heaven its so good) is gonna run you about $7 with no refill... just sip it slowly. That is what I do. The food... its always yummy. I haven't had a bad experience with the food yet. I've even experienced their catering menu which is DANK! All in all, DriveShack happens to be one of my favorites right now and I'm so happy we have one in Raleigh. Yes from time to time the machines will start acting up (like all technology) but the staff always find a way to make it right. I'm glad we have something similar to Top Golf in Raleigh. Let me preface that I would recommend coming in groups of 4 or more if you do evening.. Anything less is just too pricey PP. Or go during a non peak time. Upon arrival, you go to the front desk for a bay reservation. We went on a Sunday evening and to my surprise, there was no wait at all and we got the top floor! A lot of the reviews are bad because of the wait time... I definitely would not have waited over an hour for a spot so I guess we lucked out because we had a positive experience. Once we were settled in our bay, the server came out to explain how to play and take our drink/food orders. Food came out halfway through the game and it was just okay. Honestly wasn't expecting much because it's an event venue, not a restaurant. Service was alright too. There are different game modes and clubs available to choose from. Once you hit a ball, there's a screen that tracks the range and how far it goes. Pretty interesting stuff. We had a couple that didn't register but it wasn't a problem. Towards the end, we paid for another 30 min because we felt like it wasn't enough time. I had a blast with golf but it's not cheap. In addition to golf, they have a lot of open seating and games available to play. FYI- you can rent stuff for shuffleboard for free and it is a great time. I went here for an event and I had so much fun! Up to six people can play in each lane and there are couches for lounging. You get to pick the interactive part of the game; the one that we played the most was 21. When you hit the ball, the ball correlates with the screen and what's going on in the game. There are also arcade games for those who do not like golf and food and drinks. The staff were very attentive and polite. I plan to have a regional outing here because I like it so much! Great idea, poor execution. Drove 40 minutes to get there knowing that the wait would be 1.5 -1 hr 45 minutes long. They only use texting to communicate with customers. We received the initial sign-up text. Then we waited about 2 1/2 hours and never received a text saying that our bay was ready, even though they said they sent one. Saw open bays when we were leaving. We were not offered anything for the inconvenience, like a discount or a free bay. Instead of letting technology control customer service, customer service should control the technology. Sent a text and didn't the see customer AND didn't see them leave? That's an issue- don't ignore it! And then the food. This is what sent this review into 1 star territory. The nachos were good. Everything else tasted like the chef had Covid and lost their sense of taste and smell. Boneless wings, edamame, dumplings, cobb salad, and a dish that sounded delicious- like an American version of saag paneer that turned out to be spinach dip- they were all.....bad. I mean, how is it possible to make edamame and Cobb salad taste bad? I don't know, but they managed to do it. The boneless wings with lemon pepper was too salty, the spices on the edamame tasted like fish, and the spinach dip was just bad. Even for spinach dip. The service was questionable. We kinda had a waitress? Came to take our drink and appetizer order. When we were ready to order our entrees, she said if we wanted more food, we could order at the bar (?!). Ok, fine- I had to go up to the bar to get appetizer plates and silverware. The worst part of all of this is that I planned this outing for my parents and husband, as a fun activity that we could all do together when we were in town for Thanksgiving weekend. And I failed. We spent over $100 on terrible food and didn't even get to golf. I guess the lesson is no reservations, no go. And don't trust texting as the only form of communication. This place is fun, but the service could really use some work. I'll return for the game but I hope the service improves. I've been twice at this point, and both times I enjoyed the environment and was excited to play the game. You get your own "lane" or whatever where you and you group pay. When I played, there was just 1 monster game and then 1 regular golfing game. It was odd, since other places like Top Golf have a variety of games. Maybe since Drive Shack is newer? Hopefully there are more games coming. The service seemed kind of disorganized and a little detached when I went. Servers weren't super thrilled to be there. I asked about a certain beer and the server said "uh hm, not sure. I'd guess it tastes like lime." (It had lime in the name.) It would have been better if she'd offer to get more info. Still, the food and drinks are solid. The food is a little pricey but it's what you'd expect for a place like this. We came for a company outing and had an absolute blast! We had two bays reserved for about 25 people and a pretty good BBQ buffet with brisket, pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and cookies. We took turns stepping up to play games like whacking monsters or golfing different virtual courses. Cocktails weren't bad at all - lots of mules and whiskey on the rocks for our group! I came here on a Sunday with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday. At 11:30am, we didn't have to wait at all for a bay with a couch on the second floor. It did get way more crowded as the day went on though. The concept and layout of the bay is awesome. We were able to seat 5 people comfortably while one person was hitting. There's a charging station with an outlet and 2 USB stations. You can also control the TV channel and the overhead heating unit. There's some different game options to choose from, but if you're like me and just want to hit a golf ball as far as possible you can do that too. There's a full set of clubs for both men and women! Our waitress was awesome which is what probably made our experience so great. She made sure we had full drinks and checked on us regularly. I love the different mimosa options, and the white peach was my favorite - it is a bit on the sweeter side though. The food was also surprisingly good considering this is more of an entertainment spot than a restaurant. This is a great place for a birthday party, work "team building," or just something fun to do with your friends. So glad Raleigh finally has one! read more

This one is a play by play review, and don't worry I will have plenty of time both waiting for a booth and waiting for service at the bar. So far the only bright point has been Barbara the lovely woman checking us in. If you have every had a friend that is constantly late and always forgets things I can now tell you where they work. Watching the bar staff attempt to serve a half empty bar and dining room looks a lot like watching a group of 14 year olds in drivers ed in a car with flat tires. Sure they may eventually get it figured out but for now it's a tragedy. I have now flagged someone down after being told "just one second" three times and got to order a Bloody Mary and the grilled cheese. Then I was asked twice afterwards to clarify the order. The only thing worse than the pace or the disorganization is the shear anger expressed that you even came and asked for anything. My sandwich has now arrived (see photo) which was described as Lil piggy grilled cheese: Toasted sour dough, pulled pork, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese and bacon jam. The pulled pork was clearly taking the Labor Day holiday off. I hope it enjoyed its time away. I could go on and on about the people's struggles around us. It's getting even better, my second Bloody Mary has a dead fly in it. Making a new one was attempted to be made In the "mixing glass" that was a squirted out with water. When I asked about it the bartender acted offended. It was a dirty glass. I don't care how it got dirty. Keep in mind we still haven't been sent a text for a booth to hit golf balls. When we were first asked at check in for a phone number so we could be texted, the woman said "text yes if you still want to play" and right then I thought who comes here and doesn't say yes, I mean it's what you came for. But now I completely understand. Once we got a booth to hit in things got slightly better, the server then was diligent and drinks came out at a reasonable pace. The game format isn't quite as good as top golf but I could see how it was more welcoming than top golfs format. I've been looking forward to their opening for a while since I'm a huge fan of TopGolf. It was great! I think there's still a couple of new place kinks they're working out but overall great super fun. They don't take reservations so you have to show up and expect to wait especially on busy weekends. I kinda wish they took reservations but it's not the end of the world to wait a bit at the bar. We got a bay after about an hour and got to the second floor which was great views. The bay couch was comfy and nice and clean (perks of a brand new place), and service was fast and efficient overall. We got a few snacks for the table and they were delicious bar food style, everything was well priced. The only pricey part is the actual game play, $45 at night per hour was a little steep, you don't feel it as much if you're splitting with a lot of people. A lot of issues with this place! We were super disappointed that this place doesn't take reservations in advance. I know it's a new location, but you have to keep up with the demand. We arrived at around 1pm on a Saturday, and there was already a 2.5 hour wait for a bay. We reluctantly put our name down, and were told they would text us when the bay was ready. We decided to adventure to the second floor bar area and have some drinks while we waited. Unfortunately, the bar was completely full, and there was a wait for tables as well. Defeated, we went to the third floor outside bar and were able to snag a table. There is a game room that you walk through on the way to the bar where they have some arcade games, pool, foosball, etc. Our waiter wasn't the greatest, but I think he did his best with the situation. We had some payments issues, as one of my friend's card was charged twice. In the end, the manager comped his drinks and all was made right. Overall, not super impressed with this place. We eventually didn't want to wait anymore and ended up leaving. We got the text that our bay was ready about 3 hours later. Reading some of the other Yelp reviews are interesting, especially the lower-ranked ones, but we did not come to eat, so this review is purely for the drink and the actual Top Golf gaming experience. We got a bay on the 3rd floor after waiting 15 minutes or so. We came during Saturday early afternoon. We played a bit of shuffleboard and the basketball arcade game in the meantime. The basketball game was 25 cents a game, so super affordable! That was a nice surprise. The bartender took his time to make me a pretty lavender lemonade with a sugar rim and blueberries, which I greatly appreciated. Playing the courses on the virtual screen, as well as the game where you knock out monsters, was fun! One hour was plenty of time to get lots of swings in with two players. If you come with a group, I'd imagine 2 hours would be more appropriate. I liked the set-up of each bay with either a table and chairs or a lounging couch-- we got a couch! The clubs available there were fine from the perspective of my gaming partner, who is an experienced golfer (whereas I am a complete novice). Fun for all ages-- I'd recommend! read more

Drive Shack Raleigh exceeded every expectation I had! I went to a VIP event last night, before their grand opening on August 23rd. First of all, what a great location! It is located near PNC arena, with easy access to Wade Ave, 40 and 440. When you drive up, the architecture of the building is modern and stunning! The front desk is huge with many people there, eager to help! The staff is top notch and I am convinced they can put anyone in a great mood! A staff member walked us to our area so we did not get lost. There are three different floors!! Each floor has their own bar area and different amenities. on the third floor, there is a decent sized game area with pinball machines and other arcade games. There is also an open, rooftop patio space. You may think the only purpose to come here would be to play golf. Although playing golf is the main event here, there is SO much more to Drive Shack. The food is incredible!! You can order food directly at your bay or order food from the bar. The signature cocktails are fun and delicious! Also, the great music makes the atmosphere fun and lively. I am no pro golfer and I felt extremely comfortable! There are many golf clubs to choose from. You can customize your games to be more relaxed or more competitive. There is also a card reader right next to your control screen for easy payment to extend your time! I LOVE how versatile this place is. Drive Shack is great for date nights, bachelor/bachelorette parties, work outings, and family outings! This will surely be your favorite new place for entertainment. read more

I have never been to a driving range before, so while I don't have anything to compare it to I had a great time at Drive Shack.The whole building (inside and out), was so new and shiney. We were greeted immediately by several friendly staff - sign in was super quick and easy. My boyf and I arrived a little before 11AM on a Saturday, so we didn't have to wait at all. There are different floors you can play from, we chose the second. Each bay had a seating area, where you can sit, chill, and order food from. There were on-screen game options which I thought was neat. As we had lunch plans afterwards, we just ordered a flight of mimosas which were all pretty good. I perused the menu and it looked like they had a decent selection of food and drinks. We'll definitely come prepared to eat next time. I can see this being a really fun place for groups. I wish this was here when my family came to visit a few months ago! . Our server was super attentive, but he was checking in on us a little more than necessary. I play hockey in a local beer league with some friends. It's always a good time. Most late games include our 'pre-game' session usually at a bar where we'll meet up and hang out before heading to the rink for a 10:55 PM start time (yuck). Well, since most hockey players love golf, we decided to pre-game at the Drive Shack. One of the guys got there earlier and put in a request for 2 bay's. We had them within 30 minutes and went up while waiting for the rest of the gang to get there. We were helped by the staff instantly, getting drinks for us and answering any questions about the system. The experience was exceptionally fun. Six of us were playing a course game in one bay, and the other group was playing a game against monsters, or something of that sort, in the bay next to us. The wait staff was on point showing up and asking if we needed more beverages. We have decided that this will be a recurring pre-game location for our late games moving forward. Well, Im confused... is it golf or is it a place to eat? It is kid of both. The food is actually really good, which makes Golf Shack a really fun place for golfers and folks that like to watch. Even if you cannot play, you should go and try as it's fun for everyone. Get there early before 6pm if you want to play right away, or you may end up waiting for a bay to play. Its first come first serve for 6 folks per golf bay. The fact you cannot reserve lanes/bays is a little frustrating. I want to call out the one item that really chapped me... the nachos. I have put pictures in my write up, I mean really Drive Shack, nachos will make you or break you. Your nachos are perplexing, great chips but really sparse with toppings. ... so sparse we dipped our fields of extra chips in the Teriyaki chicken in a bowl one our party got, which rocked by itself, but also provided finishing toppings for the bare nachos. ... no excuse for sparse nachos. My other son who is a Cheese Burger officiato, rated your cheese burger, better than fast food, but not on a "five guys" level. The golf was awesome, a little expensive, but fun. $45 per hour, so do a little research before you go to see if you want to play games, play on one of the virtual golf courses or both. It took a good 45 minutes for 4 of us to play 6 holes of golf, and another 45 min to play a single game of Blackjack. All in all, fun family night out, a little expensive ($220 for dinner, drinks and 90 min of golf for 4 of us) but fun, so worth it. read more

I love going here. I used to go to top golf with my husband a lot in Overland Park KS and was sad they didn't have any when we moved here. We've been here a few times since it opened, I surprised my husband for his birthday right when it opened. The workers were all very helpful. The food was delicious. being biased with Top Golf, i was a little skeptical of this place, but BOY was i wrong. we walked in on a Tuesday and saw that the place was absolutely packed with young and all people alike. the folks in the front said it was because it was half off (or more-i cant remember) per game and they suggested to come the next day, which we didnt mind doing. I was in Raleigh for business for the whole week. We show up the next day/Wednesday, and we were accommodated right away. First off, i could tell some major differences to Top golf in that there werent 'targets' per se, but pylons that represented distances and locations in the Virtual Golf games - as a golfer, this is PHENOMENAL. to be able to play virtual St Andrews among other is a golfer's practice dream. the simulation lays out the golf course on the screen, and you aim for the locations amongst the pylons in the field - GENIUS!! The other games were equally enjoyable and they never get old - monster kill, Shack Jack (black jack), Darts, etc. I would even say the food is a notch above what we're used to at Top Golf. Fresher, more variety, and i would say better. as a Top Golf super fan in my home town, if they bring Drive Shack to Jax, i will most def switch. like i said, Drive Shack appeals to more of the 'regular golfer' because it's true ball placement practice like a real course. read more

I was really looking forward to enjoying this place since I enjoy Top Golf so much but my first experience was not good. I attended the Boozy Brunch with about 6 other people. They don't take reservations for bays in advance so when we arrived at 1:30, we were told it would be a 3 hour wait for a bay. We were also told it would be a 1 hour wait for a table in the restaurant but luckily we were being seated 20 minutes later. The thing I enjoyed most here was the Lavender Margarita. Very light and very tasty. The Watermelon Margarita was good as well but I preferred the Lavender. The food was not good. I had a burger and tater tots. My tots were slightly below room temperature, no real crunch and just missed the mark. The burger was along the lines of a burger from Cook Out. Decent but definitely nothing to write home about. Another person in my party received under-cooked Buffalo Cauliflower bites. The manager came at her request and the bites got exchanged for something else. Our server was good. However, bar service was really behind and slow. We placed drink orders and didn't get them until 35-40 mins later. The bay became available when we were paying our bill (2 hrs after we arrived). We declined to stay and play. This place is fairly new and therefore has some kinks to work out. I'd be willing to give them another try in 3-6 months. read more

My hubs and I found this place online and had never been so we decided to give it a try. We already love going to the driving range and playing golf once and while so why not. Plenty of parking, 3 levels for the driving range, food and drinks offer also. You have to book a reservation online or you can walk in and someone will help you, but you have to make a reservation!! We didn't know that until we walked in. The wait was 3 hours so they took our phone number and sent us texts when our lane was ready. We decided to go to a batting cage down the road until our lane was ready so it all worked out. They sent us a text 2 hours later that our lane was ready and we requested the 3rd level, highly recommend the 3rd level. Once arriving at our lane, we were greeted by our friendly attentive waiter. He showed us how it worked, they provide clubs or bring your own, they even have left handed clubs, they offer women's, men's, and kids clubs. They have games you play which were fun. We played for 2 hours and that was plenty for the two of us. We were whooped...lol. We ordered several drinks from the bar which were ok but not liquor up good. Prices were ok for everything. It was the experience that made up for the pricing. This was fun, relaxing, burning calories, and pretty awesome!! Highly recommend coming here just remember go online and make a reservation!!! The election scoring was very accurate. I still didn't figure out how that worked. I'm not a golfer, but there was enough to entertain me. My first time playing at Drive Shack. My relatives frequent this location and brought us along. It was a fun time, definitely a good way to kill a couple of hours. The mimosa package is a nice service, and the food was what to expect. We had an issue with the golf ball dispenser, but some one remedied it swiftly by providing us a large bucket of balls. The games on the system were varied and entertaining. We particularly liked the blackjack game. Service was friendly and quick. Our server Tucker took great care of us. read more

Came to Drive Shack for my first time to celebrate a friend's birthday!! location was a bit of a drive (2+ hours) but 100% worth it!! Drive shack was a clean and fun environment! now let's talk service..... we had a decent size part and miss ALLIE S. was phenomenal!!! she had amazing recommendations, attentive and had a A+ personality! we ordered drinks and they were here in no time!! I have come here twice. First experience we were able to be seated quickly but front desk staff was horrible and irritable. When I got food by food came out cold overheated and my nachos were pretty much burnt. When asked for a remake our waiter straight grabbed in and threw the whole thing including metal plate into the trash in front of us. Second time we came, we were quoted a 2-3 wait. We still stayed and when asked after 2 hours where we were on the wait list the front desk staff was rude and said that they can't tell me. There was so many bays open within those 2 hours. If they were short staffed we would have understood and long as there was communication instead we were met with not polite people. We ended up leaving. Horrible experience. We love golfing like this but we will not be coming back after giving it a second shot. read more
