This is the main train station in/out Dresden. Free WiFI is available but it is very spotty. Upon arrival, there are limited options for leaving the station to your hotel or adventures: foot, taxi, or tram. There are NO UBERS in Dresden. Taxis are only located in the main entrance. If you exit the side or back, you will not find a taxi even if the signs say there are. There are no taxis but in the main entrance. Once you exit the train, there are stairs, I did not see any elevators to exit the tracks. This means you need to pick up your luggage to climb up/down the stairs. Make sure if you have luggage that you can pick it up, there is nobody to assist with your luggage. The train station like all stations have no heating or cooling. Dress appropriately. Food: there is Rewe to go, Subway, le Crobag, and some other food options within the station and then near the tracks there are minimal food options. Seating: limited seating above the track area. Bathrooms: 1 euro to use, I did not use them. read more

The Dresden main train station is a smaller but well organized train station. Upon arriving look for the main station at the top of tracks. The main station has all the normal things you'd expect but smaller. There are several bakeries, a Subway sandwich, shop, and other places to eat and make small purchases. If you're coming from the United States, don't even try using your Uber app. Ubers do not run in Dresden. Exit through the main doors and then look to the left for a small taxi line. Also, public transit in Dresden is fairly easy to use. There's a tram station only a few minute walk from the station. Trams cost euro3.40 per person per trip. read more

Stopped by here on the way to and from Prague. Very nice, clean and beautiful station. Very organized and well kept even it's old. Plenty of shops, coffee and restaurants within with reasonable prices. Majority of folks are kind and friendly. Glad I got a chance to check it out. read more

Very nice train station. Easy to figure out where is where abc help is readily available if needed. They have everything a traveler needs. Grocery store, fast food restaurant, coffee shop, and clean toilet. Toilet was 1€, coin and credit card accepted. Tram station is right outside for easy access to anywhere in the city. read more

I wish the U.S. transportation system was a good as Europes. The Dresden train station is nicer than most airports! It's modern, clean, well lit, well marked with many food options. I don't get the whole having to pay to use the public restrooms as it just creates lines that aren't necessary. It you haven't been to Dresden, the station is near a large shopping district and easily walkable to the historic center of town. It was an easy 2 hours from Prague and a worthwhile day trip. read more

How do you give anything but a negative for the way this place is. I went to the information booth for help. I started talking to the first lady she stood up and closed her window. I went to the next line and talked to the next lady, who started yelling at me in german for not being able to speak german. I was very polite even, smiling and bowing in respect. The second lady walked me up to a machine clicked a few buttons, and walked away. I was out of machine in german and I didn't understand what to do. I had to walk back and ask for help again. She was visibly upset and walked back to the machine and again started yelling at me in German. She walked away and I still could not read the words on the machine. I did start my translation app but it wasn't fast enough before the machine restarted. That means I had to walk back again for a fourth time. She ignored me for a minute. I smiled and begged her please please. She waved me away. I walked back to the machine figured out how to change it into english, and still couldn't figure out how to get to prague. Prog was not an option here. A stranger had to finally help me buy a ticket. This was a horrible experience and something. I would not expect any country much less a civilized country like germany. If I could help it, I would never buy a ticket here again and I would advise everyone to avoid this crappy station. I missed two trains because customer service refused to do their job. What a horrible way to leave this city. read more

In A Nutshell: -The Dresden Train Station is very, very clean & easy to figure out. -You can either pre-pay for your train ticket online (I used Rail Europe & booked a couple months in advance due to traveling during Christmas) OR you can use one of the ticket machines OR you can walk into the friendly ticket office to purchase a ticket. -There are several shops & restaurants to help kill time. -There are also mid-sized to large lockers you can rent to store your luggage in case you needed to. Well, it isn't just the German Stations that provide a place to leave your bags, but after an experience in France I do appreciate that there is generally a place where you can stuff them before heading off for a wander around the city (not that we actually walked all that far beyond the railway station). Still, these stations are pretty cool, and the trains are certainly quite punctual as well. Oh, at they also tend to be reasonably well laid, which makes getting around rather simple. The other interesting this is that this is a 19th Century railway station, but, well, this is Dresden, so there is that as well. read more

Dresden's main train station is clean and easy to navigate. There are food and shopping stores. The information desk is clearly marked and the English speaking customer service reps are very helpful. Me and Hubby had an easy trip in and out of this train station. read more

A smaller main train station - this HBF is broken into HBF and HBF Nord (adjacent to one another). It's very, very clean - I swear you could eat off of the platforms. No litter, bird crap or spit out gum to be seen. We took the train from Prague here so were in the "main" building which has a few fast food places and a convenience store. We grabbed some cans of beer and some pretzels and awaited our ride back to Prague. Other items of note - good signage, clean (pay .70) toilets and easy connections to the local trams. The main station of Dresden is quite big, although full of people, sill easy to get around. I also like how its architecture style, it combines the old European style for train station and the modern style together. it made really look quite new but not lack it own story. Usually if you go from Berlin to Prague by train, then the train will make a stop here. This station like most of the big railway stations in Germany, it got many fast food shops and some convenient shops or supermarket inside. so no worries, to carry an empty stomach on the trip. There is area you can lock your luggage inside the station, if you want. Not far from the main station, you can find the new shopping street in Dresden, which full of those big Brand you heard of and some may not but cool place to shop. You can also find different city to city bus services inside the station, the bus station just around station, quite easy to find. Usually waiting at railway station could be quite bored, but that isn't the case in the main station of Dresden. read more

EASY TO FIGURE OUT. I took the train from Dresden to Litomerice out of the Dresden HDF train station. At first I could not find the ticket counter and went to a machine to purchase train tickets. But the taking a machine cannot calculate local trains in the Czech Republic. Once I found the ticketing counter and eventually got an English-speaking ticket agent I soon bought my tickets to Litomerice. The ride was pleasant in the train station is very easy to figure out, especially what platform you need to go to. read more

Very nice and somewhat clean train station. It's always very busy. The service at times is not the best at all and no one their speaks anything other than German. With Dresden being such a big city this is something that needs a lot of work. The trains are all very nice and clean. Great place to visit. Great place to visit and lots of shopping to do there, I would definitely recommend Dresden to anyone, that loves to travel. Lots to see and do, there's a lot of old castles and monuments with breath taking scenery, the people are ok, and loves to stare lol but overall the city of Dresden is awesome. read more
