This building, once named Expo Hall, and rebranded as Stageworks in the mid-aughts (2000's), when…read morethe film industry launched several productions in various mediums upon the geography here. Prior to becoming a soundstage for both tv and film, the Expo Hall was a local scene for exhibitions of sorts, live music performances, and indoor athletic competitions. Located off of Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport, this location has always been convenient for the general public. In the 1980's, as a youth, I attended countless Gun & Knife Shows here. The 12th Independence Bowl hosted their Minuteman Luncheon here in 1987, when Mack Brown brought his Tulane Green Wave to town to face the Pac-10 University of Washington Huskies. Chuck Yeager was the speaker at that event. In 1994 the first casino riverboat (Harrah's, now Sam's Town) hit the Red River across the street here. Along with Vegas-style gaming, the casino brought Vegas-style entertainment to this building: Boxing, and musical acts like, The Neville Brothers, and Barbara Mandrell. In the mid-1990's, Harrah's even created an outdoor iceskating rink right next door to this facility for the holidays. This building has also hosted numerous car shows, under the World of Wheels which brought the likes of Chyna (Joan Lauer) of the WWE, and NASCAR drivers Sterling Marlin, and Jimmy Spencer. Once this became a soundstage, one of the largest productions filmed here, was the Kevin Costner Coast Guard drama, The Guardian.
