It's been a while since my last review because I was traveling in China where Yelp was not available. But this week, I will be starting my adventure in the UK. Tonight we are having the classic UK fish and chips with a pumpkin soup starter. And without further ado, let's dive right into the review! For starters, the pumpkin soup was fresh and hot! I took a spoonful of it and burnt my throat. Very flavorful and definitely a nice starter. It also comes with two pieces of bread which is a nice addition. The fish and chips come in standard, large, and jumbo size. I got the standard size and it was already very filling so go for jumbo if you really want a challenge. As I bit into the fish, it felt as though it melted in my mouth. The batter was crispy, light, thin, and not oily. It felt like the perfect combination. I hadn't had fish and chips in a while where I haven't been eating mostly batter in a while. The waitresses were very nice and well mannered. And they were also very helpful in answering our questions. I don't remember the price of this meal but when I saw the combo price I was astounded. Not only did it come at a superb price, the meal was filling and of high quality. In conclusion, this was a great meal to start of my UK trip and I'm excited for all the future meals I will be having. And that's it for today's episode of javing it with Javier. The chips were the dregs of the fryer basket, bits and burned, overcooked. The main complaint though is about the spam fritter and chips for my son, it looked disgusting and he said tasted just as bad, he wouldn't let me send it back because we had already waited too long. Once I went about 5 years ago and it wasn't nice at all, very heavy and a real over-fatty taste/smell to everything. So when my MIL suggested we get fish and chips for Good Friday, I was sceptical but thought why not give it another chance - and I did.
