Oh Dragonfly...it actually feels awful to give them only two stars, especially since I do actually come here quite a bit, but I really couldn't justify giving them any more than two. First let's start with the good. They're open SUPER late which is amazing because my friends and I are always looking for somewhere to go to just have quiet and lowkey hangouts, but everything in OC closes before 10. The atmosphere is really nice and pretty and the employees (while probably not ecstatic to be there so late) are friendly. As far as their actual food and drink goes...not so great. I can never put my finger on why I don't like it, I guess I just feel like there are so many good boba places within driving distance and dragonfly is just meh. Not awful but certainly not great. My friends and I typically share some popcorn chicken or another snack but I try to steer clear of their drinks altogether. The good: The atmosphere is chill and the decor is amazing. It really feels like a place to wind down and relax with a cup of tea and a good book or do homework. The bad: The drinks are okay. Not terrible but not worth $4. The worse is the wait time. I ordered steamed gyzoa while I was on my half hour break at work. It took so long that I waited past my lunch time! Just for 4 pieces of steamed gyzoa! And it wasn't that busy either. There was only one employee working at the time. Maybe management should hire another person? Let me start by saying that I honestly do love the quality of the bubble tea at this place, as well as the late hours and the layout itself. This rating pertains to this specific location (which I won't be returning to). The 2 girls that work here have the nastiest attitudes - they really make you feel like a huge inconvenience and a chore simply for being a customer (especially the bigger girl with the glassy es and darker hair). Luckily, there are a couple other locations all within 15 minutes of each other. I see others have also endured these two wretched excuses for employees... seems like the only thing they actually do is ensure customers have such an uncomfortable experience that they're discouraged to return - cause it's pretty clear that they're not doing their jobs. Decent is the term I would use to describe the food: They have a decent selection of various food items (for a boba place). The prices for FOOD are decent. Came here late one night on a Friday. I have been looking into trying this place out for a while since it's open late and I've read great reviews for it being a great study spot! Friday might have not been the best time to study as this place is packed! There is tons of seating in the small place and it was completely full of younger individuals enjoying a boba on their Friday night. The wifi here was very slow - but that could be due to the amount of people that may have been connected with their cell phones. As another girl and myself were the only one with laptops. The air condition must of been set on low or even broken because it was quite hot inside the place. Iced green tea - they add an orange slice to it which gives it a nice look but doesn't change the flavor. The tea overall was refreshing but on the bitter side. Very upsetting experience. These new younger workers are just rude and non sanitary. Earlier today, a female worker was asked to remake my tea bc I asked for 70% & it was super sweet still. She used a clean knife to cut open the plastic from my cup, then put the knife in the sink & realized she needed to cut it more so she can reuse my drink contents. She then picks up the knife from the dirty sink & continues cutting open the plastic off of my cup. I called her on it & asked why she would do that. She denied it & rolled her eyes as she started over with a new cup. I then let her finish, but I had to ask another worker to redo it bc I could not trust her to touch my drink anymore. She saw me ask another worker & tried to argue with me. I had to defend myself & remind her why I could not trust her to touch my drink. What a terrible customer experience. The new crew needs to be retrained. The young man that helped me fix her mess, he had a nice smile the whole time & didn't give me a hard time. Management needs to fire that girl, there is no training a bad attitude and lack of common sense. No common sense, no proper respect of food safety, & a bad attitude. My top milk tea spots in SoCal by far! I can't say enough how delicious their tea is here and I'm a very picky person when to milk tea options. The milk tea here is rich, creamy, and leaves a delicious taste once you finish your drink. I normally opt for the milk tea Monday specials (one drink is like 50cents), but now that it's summer time they have a special where you purchase 1 drink and you get the twin drink for only $1. It's quite the steal so I plan on coming more often. :) The place is very comfortable, welcoming and I find people just hanging out/doing homework/ relaxing with company or even alone. It's a great place to chill if you have some time and want a drink to brighten your day. Employees are welcoming and helpful too! 11/10 would recommend, hands down. read more

I've been a customer for over 6 years and have seen this place improve with renovations and menu changes. I have consistently chosen to study here since the atmosphere is pleasant, Wifi is dependable, and there's enough electrical outlets but I was surprised today to find the air conditioning intentionally turned off. It's the summer and I understand that customer flow is slow but I witnessed more than three groups of customers complain that "it's hotter in here than outside" and leave rather than stay. I even overheard a family complain to the cashier that not having the AC on is "losing customers" and "illegal". I chose to stay and sweat it out but this environment is not suitable for customers or employees. According to labor standards, "Regardless of business size, the minimum temperature for indoor workplaces is 68 degrees Fahrenheit and the maximum is 76 degrees Fahrenheit...employees also have the right to request an OSHA inspection and protection from retaliation and discrimination, after reporting an unsafe working environment". I hope this issue can be addressed by the owner or management. read more

I've been to the Rowland Heights location and that one was really good, but for some reason this location always disappoints me. They are open till 3 am on weekdays so kudos to them for that. [service]: The service is poor. Employees don't seem well trained. Don't expect a greeting, any thank yous, any smiles, or any recommendations. They are literally there just to take your order. [drinks]: I've tried a couple milk teas here. The golden milk tea and the almond milk tea. So gross! It's overly sweet, doesn't taste like tea, has a syrupy flavor. They do have a sign that says you can switch if you don't like your drink for another drink of the same category, but I just don't like their milk tea drinks so there was no point. Their rainbow tea was decent though and perfect amount of sweetness when you ask for it to be less sweet. [food]: We have only tried their popcorn chicken and it was pretty good. The spicy level is actually a bit spicier than other places. This one is much closer to where I live but it's a shame it's so much worse than the Rowland heights location. The drinks over there are so much yummier and service is much much better. After a long day at Disneyland, we needed something to eat that opened late and had good ratings. And we decided to give Dragonfly a try. The food and drinks on their menu looked really good so I ordered the Mango Me smoothie and the Mango Chicken Rice Plate.... Okay. This is going to sound a bit HARSH, but the guy that took our order is probably one of the most awkward/weirdest person that I have ever encountered. He didn't greet us until we said something and when you ask him questions. You get such weird responses. When I ordered my food. I told him, "can I not have any sesame seeds on my food!" He said "uh ok" in the most awkward when way ever and so then I asked him how long it was going to take for my Mango chicken rice plate to come out. He said about ten to fifteen minutes. So I asked if we'd have time to run to in and out real quick since In and Out was in the same plaza. It was also a way to let him know that's where I would be. He responded in the most awkward way again... "if you want." Anyways. I went to In and Out and came back. The food still wasn't ready... and when it was, it wasn't what I ordered so we had to wait for another 15 minutes. But we did get our smoothie. The Mango Me was pretty bad. It's supposed to be a smoothie but it sure didn't taste like a smoothie. It tasted like someone ordered a smoothie like an hour ago but they didn't pick it up so they gave it to the next person who ordered the exact same drink or something. I didn't like it at all. When I got my food, it was the right one this time and of course there would be sesame seeds!! Overall, I don't recommend this place and don't think I would be coming back to this place. Oh Hi Dragonfly! Yay! I'm always on the lookout for a truly great boba spot. There are a million in the area, but not all of them get it right. My friend introduced me to this spot just last week. It's a bit further from my home than I would like (can't really justify driving that far just for boba, but it's probably among the best boba experiences I've ever had. The spot is quite small. Located in a little shopping plaza, it's easy not to notice, but boy should you take notice. The only thing that I can sorta gripe about is that it took the employee a few minutes to help us out at the register. I think he was in the bathroom. I did here the sink on though before he came out, so at least he's washing his hands!!! Anyway, I ordered a strawberry/vanilla milk tea with minimum boba. It was really great. A lot of places can't get the strawberry/vanilla mix right (which is my favorite btw), but this place nailed it. My friend got the regular boba milk tea (sans boba, if that makes sense) and that was great too. I can't wait for another halfway decent reason to get back to the area and try more of the menu offerings! read more

METHINKS NOT is right. The customer service here is horrible. Every time I come in, they are pushy and rushing me while ordering. I was in there on Saturday evening, around 8pm. There were two male employees working. My friend had ordered all the drinks for my group. It was 2 Vietnamese iced coffees, and one passionfruit mango green tea, all with boba. When we got our order, the only thing that was satisfying was the green tea. I have ordered MANY Vietnamese, and this one I received was black coffee with sweetener over ice. It was not what I wanted. When my friend had asked what was wrong with our drinks he RUDELY told us that "we had ordered the wrong thing". I've worked in the food industry for 7 years, you NEVER tell a customer that they are wrong. He didn't even offer to remake our drink or give us something we wanted, all he did was ROLL HIS EYES AT US. I have never been treated so horribly by an employee. I have been to Dragonfly Tea Bar twice. Both times my teas were on the sweeter side, but if you want to taste the tea, they can always modify it to make it "unsweetened." Ambiance - Expect your college students from Chapman or Saddleback to be studying here. I hear that it gets pretty packed around finals time. The decor is modern with an Asian twist. Lanterns hang from the rafters and there is a large panda that you can cuddle up with. This place is open until 4am! Late night boba runs and late night studying is now possible in Orange County! Food/Drinks - I ordered the Strawberry Lychee specialtea and it was extremely sweet. I tasted little of the tea itself. I have also ordered the Rose Royal Tea which was also just as sweet. My goal will probably only ask for half of the sugar next time. There are food deals each day, where I have tried the Mango Chicken and the Popcorn Chicken. Both are decent and come in a pretty large portion. The dumplings aren't half bad either. The workers here are extremely nice and accomodating. They even have basil seeds for you drink! My favorite topping! The snacks are huge portions and the price is cheap for the portion you get! I got the organic crispy tofu and the popcorn chicken and they were both yummy! I love that they are open late for late night studying or hanging out with friends. They have outlets at every table, even the booth so you don't have to worry about not being able to charge your laptop. Some people don't understand the menu here. Also, they use fresh tea to make their milk teas. Many do not know that. I know because I watched them make it once. They definitely using fresh tea! They use that thing .. Where you get the water from the tea leaves out & yeah.. Damn I suck at explaining. But anyway, yeah. This place may be pricey (they add tax too :| ) but you're paying for good quality drinks! You just have to KNOW HOW TO order the drinks. You can customize your drink to be any flavor of any kid and however many you'd like. You can also adjust the sweetness! And if you hate it, just tell the workers and they'll make you something else! This is one of the few places in the OC that is opened past midnight. My friends and I grabbed food and studied here late at night for the past four nights straight, and got to say, we love coming here. They have free wifi, a printer, and numerous of tables and chairs, which is a perfect environment to get some work done. However, their lights inside are very dim and the wifi is super slow, which can be very frustrating. Also, the music they play is loud, so if you don't like the music or can't study with all the noise going on, then make sure to bring some earphones. Parking is not an issue whatsoever. The interior design is nothing really special. It can get dirty with trash all over the floor, but a worker comes by every couple of hours to clean the floors and take out the trash. I have ordered their popcorn chicken, french fries, Jasmine milk tea, and Thai milk tea numerous of times, and they all tasted solid. They're food and drinks are pretty pricey for its quality and size, but nonetheless satisfying to the taste buds. However, to be quite honest, more than the food, I just really love the store hours and study environment at this place. For all you people who love to study in groups and want something to munch on or drink something sweet, this place is for you. Every person I've encountered who works here has been helpful and cheery, and everything tastes good. This is by far my favorite boba place. This is the place I go to when I'm craving boba bad and I don't feel like driving out of Orange. Unfortunately, I've tried many of their drinks and think they're ok. If you order a regular milk tea or a fruity tea like passion green tea, it's not bad and satisfies the craving. When I feel more adventurous and try their specialty drinks though, I'm not impressed. The last one I tried was mangoholic. You'd think that with that name, the drink will be full of mango flavor, but it wasn't the case. It also had blueberry and I wasn't a fan of the combination.
