Caramel twist
Samantha M.

Service is good, I got the caramel twist and mozzarella sticks. The drink was alright nothing special but the mozzarella sticks were so goood wether they're frozen or not they lovely. The downside is that they don't have marinara sauceee . Um also their WiFi is unaccessible, I came with friends to study but left quickly not being able to connect. The employees were unable to help us with that to, but they tried.

This is the kind of boba shop that takes you right back in time--the kind of place where local high schoolers hang out after class, with free WiFi and a comforting snack. It's been here for years, and you can feel that nostalgic charm the moment you walk in. I ordered the popcorn chicken, and wow--it tasted just like I remember from when I used to frequent these kinds of boba shops after high school. Perfectly crispy, well-seasoned, and addictive. The mango tofu was a surprise hit, with its lightly fried texture and zesty mango seasoning. And the Crackin' choco thai tea is just such a fun drink. Breaking through the chocolate lining the cup is just so satisfying haha. The Oreo cookie croffle did not disappoint either. If you're looking for a place with good vibes, classic boba shop flavors, and a touch of nostalgia, this spot is it. Definitely coming back! Thanks for reading! ^-^

Waited 30 minutes for a spam musubi this is what I got and so much attitude

Honeydew boba for the win!!! I got the honeydew boba drink. It was yummy. So refreshing and sweet, but not overly sweet. It was really good. I'd get this drink over and over. 10/10 My fiancé got a Thai tea and a milk tea. He enjoyed them both. 10/10 Overall great teas. The honey boba is really good. And love the honeydew drink!

Quite Saturday afternoon 2PM~ish

Fresh boba balls are imperative and Dragonfly Tea Bar is always fresh. They also have a huge variety of other delicious drink options and some good quick bites too. Popcorn chicken (spicy ) is a favorite of mine. It's all an indulgent treat, so fun, and yummy. Service was friendly and quick (and cute ;). The interior is efficient and clean with hard wood tables and seating. There is a cute small upper area where one takes shoes off and sits Japanese style. There's also a tiny bit of seating outside where they tried to make it inviting with a little plants and things. It's a little strip mall where In-N-Out and Taco Loco and 85° Bakery are located. While there's plenty of parking, it's a busy place and parking spaces are also very tight. They've been there for many years and have always been consistent. Close to Chapman in the 55 freeway. It was really refreshing seeing a group of teens just hanging out after a football game. I went with my wife this past Saturday. As she and I sat in this hole in the wall come to life. The ambiance was pretty mellow and had a nice fit better than $tarbucks. The food was good. The drinks were on point for sure!!!. The service was great. I truly recommend this place young, middle and old.

Sunset tea (small) with chia seeds

Service was quick and the place is clean. It's a chill relaxing setting. During the day I can imagine there's lots of natural lighting, and at night they use yellow light so it's not as harsh a lighting compared to white lights. Saw lots of people getting work done or just hanging out. Sunset tea (passion fruit + peach) regular size has chia seeds in it. Had it with green tea and it was refreshing and light. The other alternative would be black tea. Lots of parking in the parking lot and restroom is clean.

The strawberry rainbow croffle. Terrible! Do NOT Order. Taste like a half frozen eggo with whipped cream and strawberry fruit sauce.

The food: let's be clear, there is only one item to order here that looks and taste better than it looks and better than other establishments offerings. This is their Popcorn Chicken! You can order their popcorn chicken in different levels of spicyness (scoville level) but depending on who is in the kitchen, it will be different every time you order it. They have no clear direction when cooking. This applies also their drinks sweetness. But with that being said it's good. Now the Bad. Don't ever order their Croffles. They are terrible and worse yet they do not look or taste anything like their menu picture offering. (See photos for comparisons. The service is fine for the generation and age group they are and generally serve. The ambiance is varied. Some days it's loud music some days it's no music but one think you can consistently count on is to bring a sweater they like to keep it cold. If you have a fav drink or item you like to order I would suggest staying consistent. Because not everything is good. But it's good enough. Better than their competitor across the street which now closed down.

Rainbow Tea with Lychee Jelly

Went here on a Saturday afternoon and at the time, it wasn't busy so my drink came out very quickly! I ordered the Rainbow Tea with Lychee Jelly! The Rainbow tea in my opinion has just the right amount of sweetness to it. Also the mixture of the strawberry, peach, and mango is a very refreshing combination! Also the inside of this place has a nice aesthetic appeal to it!

The food is good. Drinks are okay! Service is good. Ambiance needs little work though.

Worth the price of the drink just for this beauty

What brought me in was the jammin music playing just outside. Stepping in, they've got a great vibe and warm decor. They're decorated for Halloween right now, which I love. I got the coconut almond drink with boba and it was delicious. Consider, I had just been in 85 degrees browsing and left because I felt my indecision was annoying the cashier. I didn't feel that way whatsoever at Dragonfly. They smiled and said hi when I approached (85 degrees certainly didn't), they have great ambiance (85 always looks the same, uninteresting), snd the drink was delicious. I will absolutely bypass 85 every time to make a beeline for this place.

Okinawa and Coco Almond milk tea

I was out late Sunday night with my friend after eating our late night dinner, we could not find an appealing boba spot around Irvine that we wanted to go to that opened past midnight then we saw this spot suggested to us miles away. The workers there were patient and well mannered. The place looks great for students doing work or just hanging out. They even have a printer you can use but you gotta bring your own paper. They have an area you can take off your shoes and sit cross legged if you want. We got the Okinawa and Coco Almond milk tea and we were both pleasantly delighted with our milk teas! Both our drinks were creamy and refreshing. We would for sure come back again if we are around OC!

Ask the Community - Dragonfly Tea Bar

What time are you open 'til? Asking to confirm the 1am shown on Yelp is accurate bc I've a hard time believing any boba shop in OC is open past 9pm (all others that say they are on Yelp are liars who don't update their hours).

Yes, they are open until 1am!

Has the ownership changed in the past year or so? The drinks aren't as customizable as I remembered.

Do they have a printer?

Yes, they have a printer.

Good place for homework?

Yes! They even have a printer.

What's the WiFi password?

I don't know, because i wasn't dining in! But I'm pretty sure you can ask a staff member....

Do they have outlets?

Yup

I normally just order milk tea but I kinda want to switch it up, does anyone have any good bubble tea recommendations ? Thank you!

the peach milk tea with the regular boba is my favorite :+)

There were about 3 people ahead of me in line and a few waiting for drinks, but I was able to order and get my drink in around 10 minutes. Staff was very friendly and checked in with us while waiting in line! I ordered the Matcha Two, which comes as a matcha latte topped with salted matcha vanilla cream foam. The foam was velvety and creamy. The matcha had a smooth, earthy flavor with subtle sweetness. Oatmilk was the default choice, and while I usually think oatmilk can overpower matcha, it worked well in this drink. It is a little pricey for 1 drink, but that also seems to be the norm these days for specialty drinks. This is more of a grab-and-go spot than a place to hang out. There's no seating, just a bench inside, and everyone waited outside since the interior is on the smaller side. Parking was easy when I went. Overall, a pleasant experience for a yummy matcha drink, and I'd definitely come back to try more of their matcha menu!

They only allow one party in the shop at a time. You order with one person, and then they send you to the cashier to pay. Once you place your order, the drinks come out pretty quickly. I love a good Blueberry Matcha, so I knew I had to try one. The matcha latte has oat milk and their house blueberry puree. I really enjoyed it! They also have their Matcha Lattes "One," "Two," and "Three." We opted for the Matcha Three which includes salted matcha vanilla ice cream and matcha sorbet, oat milk, and house vanilla syrup. It was pretty good! Lastly, we got the Coconut Pandan Green Rice drink which sounded unique! It's ice blended with coconut cream, pandan coconut rice, and condensed milk. It's a thicker drink with more texture from the rice. I'll be back!

The cream top definitely carried the drink though; it was smooth, creamy, and honestly the best part. The baked goods were the real highlight for me. I got the banana bread and almond croissant, and both were SO good. Everything tasted fresh and buttery, and I love that they can warm them up for you if you're eating there. I saved mine for later and they still held up really well. Not sure if I'd come back specifically for the matcha, but I'd probably try their coffee next time since that seemed to be what most people were ordering. Cute spot and good pastries, but the viral hype set my expectations a little too high

The restaurant itself is cozy and decorated with a lot of generic signs you would see from Hobby Lobby (very live laugh love). It has both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. I got a steak and eggs, and honestly the steak was awful. I've never eaten such a dry piece of meat, it was reminiscent of what people feed their dogs for their birthday. It was supposed to be medium rare, but it was definitely well done and a low quality cut of meat. The fruit was good, sweet and in season. Bread was tightly toasted and buttered but they gave me the wrong type - it took 50+ minutes to get the food so I didn't bother telling them. The eggs were cooked well, I enjoyed them with some salt and pepper. The cashier came up to us at around 45 minutes after ordering and asked us how we wanted our eggs cooked because she hadn't asked at the beginning, and my friend and I were surprised that they hadn't started until then. Overall I don't think I plan on coming back any time soon. It's pretty close to Peter's Canyon which is a great option for a post-hike meal, but there are definitely other restaurants nearby that have better service and food.

The sun dried tomato one had cheese too and is definitely a great savory option. The gochujang one wasn't as spicy as I expected and was more on the sweeter side, but the scallion flavor was strong and delicious! My favorite was definitely the ube croffle, which was filled with a rich and creamy ube custard. It wasn't overly sweet and was soo good!
