Whatever happened to good old Chinese-American Mongolian Beef? You know the kind - thin slices of tender meat, stir fried with fresh chopped spring onions, spiced to perfection with some red pepper, all in a light sauce served over cellophane noodles that would gently dissolve under the beef? I can't find it anywhere anymore and really miss it! Nowadays it's either added veggies like carrots (yuk) and bamboo shoots (double yuk) or today's meh version of tough, gristly chunks of meat with caramelized onions in a not very spicy, heavy, oily gravy served with equally brown and greasy fried rice. A pretty tiny Chinese place that's mainly only operating as carryout. Dragon One is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Glen Ellyn. It certainly is better than it looks. Has pretty big portions even for the lunch sizes and there's specials to choose from. They have a few vegetarian choices including tofu. Called and put in an order for lunch to get some food for a get together and this place seemed to be good. It has a lot of typical Chinese American items. There's also more importantly for us vegetarian friendly stuff. I placed an order for a few items. The one I chose for us was the Tofu With Garlic Sauce. It's $11.25 for the only size, the large. The other stuff came in the smaller lunch sizes. Ours was full of tofu cooked not too much. This had a firm texture while not being hard as a rock. It had a lightly spicy garlic sauce that brought everything together nicely. The vegetables were cooked enough and not raw like at a few places. For sure we could order again from here. It turned out a lot better than expected and the others liked their stuff as well so it wasn't just ours. The prices are good on most things. read more

Dragon one lady soo cheap ,had coupon for two eggrolls if you spend so much my bill was over by a few dollars but when I asked about the egg rolls she said oh its before tax so was about 20 cents less. I said I will make up the difference but she wouldn't budge so ordered 2 egg rolls and got 2 more. It was the principle that I wasn't happy about. Tried a few places around here and I wish I tried this place sooner. The food was great and the online ordering process was excellent. I had pork fried rice, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, pot stickers, and one of the chicken entrees. Everything was delicious and a great value. I do wish there was more filling in the Rangoon but it was still tasty and fresh. My parents also liked it and we will return. read more

Excellent take-out. For our first visit, we ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan String Beans, pot stickers, BBQ pork fried rice, and some chicken nuggets for the kiddos. The kids loved the nuggets, and the adults loved everything else. If you're a Kung Pao aficionado, then this isn't the place for you - there were non traditional extras thrown in (mushrooms, water chestnuts), no dried peppers, and not very many peanuts, but it was still delicious. The Szechuan string beans were standouts. The potstickers were huge and a little doughy, but delicious. Looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu. Probably wouldn't re-order the Kung Pao chicken, but the string beans will be on every one of our future orders. One recommendation for the owners - get a new fortune cookie supplier! 3 of the 4 cookies we received all had the same fortune! read more

A friend and I ordered delivery from here and had a pretty tasty meal. To be honest, we were hanging out and I didn't really look at the clock so I actually do not remember how long the delivery took. But, if I had to guess, I'd say it was something like 35mins for our food to arrive (and we were near downtown Glen Ellyn) - so, you can do the math. The delivery driver was very nice and our food was nice and hot when it arrived. We had Vegetable Egg Rolls (standard, enjoyable), Hot & Sour Soup (pretty tasty, I'd like it to be spicier though), Vegetable Low Mein (very tasty) and Shrimp Fried Rice (this was my favorite of what we ordered, it was very good). Their large servicing are pretty sizeable and I was glad because I had leftovers for the next day. If you're looking for Chinese take-out or delivery, this place has you covered. They have a big menu and the food is tasty, you can't go wrong. I will certainly be ordering from here again. read more

I wish we could give this place a higher rating, but because it's the slowest Chinese restaurant ever, we haven't been able to actually get an order form there in a couple of years. The last two times we ordered from there, the 20-30 minute wait time stretched out to over an hour. While a very occasional delivery order went out the door half a dozen takeout customers sat and waited... and waited. We finally demanded a refund and they apparently were so used to giving money back they didn't hesitate at all, or apologize or even seem to care they lost another customer. I would give this place 2.5 stars if I could. Portion size for the lunch specials were pretty big but I felt like what I ordered lacked flavor. It clearly didnt lack sodium though because I woke up with puffy eyes the next day! I ordered the sesame chicken- it had a fair amount of dry chicken pieces, and the plain fried rice really was incredibly plain. Crab Rangoon almost had a plastic taste to the wonton. The filling was ok though. My husband had general Taos chicken and potstickers. He deemed them "fine". I don't know if I would try it again. I placed a Carry Out order, opting for the egg rolls (2), a Chicken Fried Rice (L), and the Sesame Beef special. The price, at almost $30, was a bit steeper than I would have liked, but that's because the Sesame Beef alone was almost $16. Gah. The Sesame Beef WAS the best Chinese dish I'd had in a while, though, and lasted for 3 or so meals. It was seasoned well and very saucy! The egg rolls were also satisfying. Unfortunately, the Chicken Fried Rice fell flat. The chicken was VERY dry, and I would have liked some more bean sprouts. The rice (both the white and CFR) was packed generously, with the containers overflowing. The entire order was sturdily packed, with plenty of sauces and fortune cookies. I would definitely go to Dragon One again, but would skip the Chicken Fried Rice. Too bad THEY aren't within walking distance of my abode! read more

Called order in Mongolian Beef Dinner special #7 to pick up. 20 minutes. Got there 35 minutes and order wasn't placed I should have just left. Had to use restroom. Food was being made as I waited. Asked how much pop was 1.65 for one can of pop! For my inconvenience she should have given it to me for free! No I did not buy it. Always fo with your gut the food was/ is terrible! I have been a fan of this place for a very long time. been coming here for about 10 years now. they just moved 2 doors down from the original location. I was pretty upset that they couldn't tell me how big the scallops are. I even went over there and asked to see through the window (inside is closed now due to covid), but they said the chef was too busy to show me. They gave me a scallops number which I googled and got an idea, I think, but they should be able to tell me so that I can understand. OK, so I decided to order the scallops anyway and asked them how much it would cost to add beef. The person I was speaking to did not know what beef is. Finally, I just hung up and went elsewhere. I hate to be the dissenting opinion here, but we were not at all happy with this place. We went here on recommendations from the trusted Yelp community. We tried the dinner specials, chicken sesame and sweet and sour pork. For both entrees, the meat was breaded and the breading was overwhelming. It was too thick of a coating and overpowered the meat. The sauce for sesame chicken was flavorful, but the sauce for the sweet and sour only had one tiny green pepper and two pineapple triangles. The portions were huge, but the quality was just not there. The pork was also very fatty. We may give them one more chance to redeem themselves and get other dishes in the future. If so, we will update this review. Service was fast and prices were very reasonable so I will give them that. read more

The search is over! Our favorite local Chinese take out place closed and we've been searching for a new spot for over a year. This one is 20 minutes away but well worth the drive! We loved everything we ordered...house special fried ride, chicken Lo mein, Kung pao beef (super spicy!), chicken broccoli, sesame chicken, egg rolls and potstickers. Quite possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I have had them three times then each time seems to be getting worse. Tonight I ordered the orange chicken which I ended up throwing away because it was horrid. I understand a lot of Chinese restaurants use premade frozen chicken, but this was intolerable. Could not chew through it and the sauce tasted nothing like orange. The fried rice was well over cooked. It also tasted like it has been cooked perhaps the day before it was not fresh. We ordered pot stickers they were bad. Dry as if they were baked. The noodles I ordered we oily and tasteless and my husbands sweet and sour chicken was dry and poor tasting. It seemed quiet pricy for what we got. Needless to say we won't be ordering again. read more
