Bbq pork was a bit too saucy sweet for me, but even if you loved the flavor, the pork was really fatty. The green beans seemed to be a mix of what had been under the heat lap for a long time and fresher green beans. Chicken wings were not well rendered and suspicious. If you like mushy egg rolls, dry orange chicken, fatty teriyaki chicken, pale beef and broccoli and bland lo mein and fried rice then this is your place to go. Panda Express is much better compared to this place. Is it cheap? Yes. Do they give you big portions? Yes. However if you're looking for flavorful food with good portions then go to the Yummy Express. Just not on Monday's which is the only reason we went here. Yay! Dragon Express is in Escondido! Love, love this restaurant. Whenever we travel north to Hemet we stop in Temecula to eat at Dragon Express. It's good food, good prices and their portions are over the top. So glad they are closer to where we live. Hope they do well in Escondido. Visit them if you like good food and a clean place. I ate at the Dragon Express for the first time. I had the Jalapeño Chicken, the Kung Pao Chicken and the Barbecued Pork. I had half rice and half "Chow Mien" noodles, which actually was Spaghetti. I thought the spaghetti was just fine, although those who want authentic Chinese, would probably not be happy. I thought the flavors were very good for a fast food Chinese restaurant. The heat in the dishes was just right (I didn't eat the red chilis) I was disappointed that the rice did not look fried, and there were very few vegetables in it and no egg. I also did not have any peanuts in the Kung Pao. I will probably eat there again and bring my own peanuts. read more

I give stars based on comparing similar establishments. So compared to other fast food Chinese places, this warrants 5 stars. Obviously, not even close to Flemings or Cowboy Star in quality/flavor but on a value basis, it's definitely 5 stars. The thing that jumps out at you is the size of the serving. HUGE! If quantity is your thing, this place can't be touched. Easily twice the portion size of Panda (for less $). You almost start laughing as they keep scooping food. I ordered the 2 item combo and it practically broke the take-out styrofoam container. She couldn't really close it. I can finish a 2 item at Panda while I only finished maybe half at Dragon. Orange Chicken at Panda is more flavorful but it's also hit and miss. Sometimes, it's crispy and has a little heat and other times, mushy and flat. Others in my party said choices were on par with what Panda offers in flavor/quality. Noodles and rice at both places are standard fast food fare - no comparison to what you can get in Mira Mesa/Kearney Mesa. read more

We were on our way home from a long drive from LA and were craving chinese food. There is a place right next to our house that is more convenient to get to but we heard good things about Dragon Express and decided to go the extra couple miles to get it. When walking in, the staff was very friendly and gave recommendations and let me sample some of the food. I ended up getting the family pack which is an enormous amount of food for about 25 bucks! Like most places the orange chicken is great but could use more chicken and less batter but it tasted great so I didn't mind. I was super stoked to learn of this place after one of my friends here on yelp had bookmarked it. It's very close to where I work so I decided to try it out today for lunch. I told the lady I was going to skim over their options to see what I could get. Sadly the only vegetarian entree was the garlic green beans & I wasn't in the mood for those. They had a veggie stir-fry but it had shrimp in it. The sweet lady told me she could give me just the veggies from that entree but I politely rejected her offer. I opted to just get some chow mein, cream cheese won tons, and a Thai tea. I was really happy that they had Thai tea because I loveeeee it and it was super cheap! I think it was like $1.50 for the small size. The chow mein was good, not the best I've ever had, but it will handle that noodle craving I constantly seem to have. The cream cheese wontons were also pretty tasty - super light and fluffy. The best part about it?? My lunch was only $7 and I was stuffed! The medium sized carton for the chow mein will easily feed 2-3 people. Or just one carbaholic in my case. Anyway, the prices are extremely fair! I would go here over Panda Express any time. I just hope that with my review the owners can take us vegetarians into consideration and add another veggie friendly option, and they will have my constant business & a 5 star review from me. This is my new Chinese fast food hangout. I used to go to Panda Express for the eggplant tofu, but stopped when they quit offering it. Very happy now for another nearby choice. The people who work there are wonderful and they give you a lot of food for your money. I usually get the BBQ pork and the mushroom chicken. The orange chicken and kung pow (sp?) are also very good. The only change I would make would be to for them to cut the vegetables smaller. We don't always have access to a knife. read more

This is a new place, the new owner completely redecorated and renovated with tasteful tiles and new furniture. The foods are made in small batches, fresh, crisp, colorful and tasty. Orange chicken tastes just like Panda's zesty with a little citrusy. BBQ pork is cut in small pieces to let the sauce cooked through, tender and authentic. The beef with string beans is sautéed with small amount of minced garlic, tender beef and crispy green bean. Kung Pao chicken is the same, lots of chicken, with celery, baby corn and Bakchoy. The last dish we had is shrimps stirred fried with variety of vegetables, light but delicious. The staff is very friendly, always uses two hands to serve you, a great Chinese tradition to show respect to customers. The entire place is kept spotless, making me feel positive and relaxed. If you crave for some nice comfortable, delicious Chinese foods for yourself or your family, you will definitely go back week after week. I am so looking forward to go to valley center now so I can get visit this restaurant for some good Chinese food.
