I was in the hospital for two weeks and he suggested we reduce my meds. He is very dismissive and a horrible docter

Knowing I had sciatica and hearing a lot of horror stories, it was dubious to me if I would ever…read moreaddress the embarrassing and painful condition of taking just a very short walk to cross the street or to walk from my car to the entrance of a hospital. I even bought a walking cane. I did my due diligence in finding a neurosurgeon who had the years experience behind him and the reviews to verify his skills and confidence.  I knew by his reviews that I wanted Dr. Johans before I ever met him. He's a diamond in the rough. His staff is extremely professional and serious about their work being part of his team.  He's a sought-after-surgeon yet spends the appropriate time listening to you, and establishing a teaching rapport with you on what is causing your pain and exactly what he can do to heal you. https://youtu.be/eHfzpaseck8 I am only a post-second day patient and hardly experiencing any pain but rating it at 1 on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being best because I think I ought to have pain, but I'm not feeling it right now at the end of a second day. The pain rating I had with sciatica for many years was between 8 and 10 and that's after a couple of minutes of walking; I would be looking for a wheelchair or a place to rest.  I also knew that the longer I waited, the worst the sciatica would get. I have no need of the post-surgery-pain medicine except I am diligently using ice pack belts from Walgreens, and the back brace he provides. Me and my family are grateful beyond imagination that I can have a new outlook on life at 68, and that I will be able to distance walk again with my grand kids, family and friends, God willing back to my Zumba classes that I loved, and now have the ability to be more proactive in improving my heart health.  I know I need to do my part in this recovery and beyond, and believe me I will dutifully follow his lead. All I can say is I am thankful, I am thankful, I am thankful for the healing hands of Dr. Johans.  Without any hesitation, I would recommend him to my own family and dearest friends.

He joked that I would be a quadrapaligic if I got in a fender bender. Hw was angry about my blood sugar & that he couldn't make money on my surgery. There was no offer or discussion of a plan to get it to the level needed. I've since found a surgeon who genuinely cares & am getting my needed sugery in 3 days.

I could not have had a better outcome, the surgery and follow up were outstanding, I was able to safely return to a normal, pain-free life. I went back later in the same year when I needed a lumbar fusion and had another fantastic outcome, Dr. Bridges is very thorough, open, honest, and empathetic, I never felt like anything was rushed and always had all of my options explained. The staff has always been quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Please go see her if you are considering spine surgery.

She is a highly skilled surgeon with a great bedside manner. At my first appointment Dr Bridges reviewed my MRI results with me, pointing out the pictures showing the source of my pain. and outlined the treatment options to correct the problem. She went over the surgical procedure she recommended, explaining the risks, the expected outcome, and what I could expect after the surgery. Dr Bridges fully explained the recovery and rehabilitation process and the timeline to full recovery. She listened to my questions and made sure I completely understood the surgery and what I could expect at every step of my recovery. In the end her skillful surgical repair of my spine not only relieved my pain but also improved my quality of life. I'll be forever grateful for the care I received from Dr Bridges. I also want to mention her staff and the staff at Treasure Valley Hospital who were professional and caring during office visits and my short hospitalization.
