This place has a history with our organization as we have almost always held our orientations here,…read moregeneral assemblies, and who knows what else since they have been so generous to be offer Duque Hall as our venue. It's a sad thing that they're going to level it down to build a hospital, but I'm sure the latter is much more important. It's towards the back of the DOH's San Lazaro compound, and though it's a long way into it from the street, it's actually a nice walk there, if not for the beating sun. The guards are always nice and since we've always been here on weekends, it's always a quiet location, aside from the ruckus we raise when we're there. The venue is huge, great for accommodating such big groups such as ours. It's generally a professional affair, with proper air conditioning, comfortable chairs, sturdy tables, and a warm, simple design to everything. I've taken hundreds of photos here and though I've gotten sick of seeing the same background, it's always looked like a fun time there. The caretaker Joseph has always been especially helpful and friendly, and I do hope he goes on to greener pastures. One thing I will miss in particular: the couches in their lobby. Nowhere else have I run and thrown myself onto such a soft, welcoming seating surface. I'll miss you, couches! Goodbye, Duque Hall!

My brother would immediately (and while panicking) send me to the emergency room and our first choice would always be UST Hospital. PROS: I had this nasty viral infection a year ago. It had all the symptoms of dengue, except that my platelet count wasn't as low as it's supposed to be when someone has dengue, so it's technically not and it's just a viral infection. That's what the doctors at UST Hospital's Emergency Room diagnosed me with and they made me stay in the ward overnight. They couldn't give me anything though, since there are no antibiotics for viruses. So I had to ride it out while they'd occasionally inject pain meds and hydrating stuff in my IV drip. They actually diagnosed me quickly and cared for me properly, that by the next day, my signs were looking better and I was discharged. CONS: It's probably an expensive private hospital, since you have to pay for everything, even the syringe or the basin you puke on. Thankfully, I have health insurance, so it covered most of the cost; I don't know if it's just a preconceived notion knowing that they *might* still be students or interns, but I found that when they inject me with a syringe, it's more painful and they take more than one try to get to the vein. TL;DR: UST Hospital is a decent private health provider that has really good service and modern facilities.

We especially went through the trouble of procuring a costly alternative drug from overseas for his use and the hospital agreed to use it instead for him(my mom was really adamant about it). But he still eventually passed. When we reviewed the drugs he was given when we were settling the bill, we noticed that they went behind our backs and gave him Remdesivir anyway. And with multiple doses per day too. In the end, his main cause of death was from septic shock due to kidney failure.

I, on the other hand, was so close to dying I got sad looks from the nursing staff. My platelet count dropped to 4 -- context: normal number is 300. I wasn't allowed to brush my teeth because if my gums bleed, the bleeding won't stop and I'll die. The best part of that experience was that the whole hospital rallied to save me. The doctors were there for me, the nurses kept sneaking me Jell-O, and some of the staff even donated blood so I wouldn't have to pay for the blood bank. In the end, I survived, and it was thanks to the wonderful people in this hospital.
