I am a 67-year-old retired aerospace engineer. I've moved a lot, and owned many homes. I've hired a lot of contractors for tasks big and small. Dr Cool is among the very best I've ever hired. I bought an older, problematic house for retrofitting new air conditioning. Large rooms, high ceilings, two floors, long distances between rooms, concrete construction with no insulation, and lotsa glass walls facing west to let in the hot afternoon sun. Joe Morris, the owner of Dr Cool, surveyed the house and designed an air conditioning system to handle it: 2 condensers outdoors feeding 5 mini-splits indoors. I was extremely impressed by the work ethic of everyone on Joe's crew. They all worked hard and effectively despite many brutally hot days. They demolished an old outdoor shed, replacing it with one of the outdoor units. They poured concrete pads for the outdoor units and ran coolant lines very neatly. Joe's crew is professional. They all knew their stuff. And they cleaned up after their work. Joe had them install and wire the first unit very quickly to cool the master bedroom. That made the house livable. The rest had to wait until my solar power contractor finished reinforcing the roof and laying out mounts for solar panels. As soon as that was done, Joe's crew was back to finish the a/c installation, laying out coolant lines and condensation drain pipes on the roof to avoid the solar panels. When there were options for decisions, Joe chatted with me about them and we decided together on a preferred option. Joe coordinated closely with my solar contractor on the electrical installation since both the air conditioning and the solar power depended upon each other. The solar power system was designed primarily to meet the demands of the a/c. Joe kept me informed about the installation schedule at all times. There were a couple of brief unavoidable delays due to the covid-19 pandemic and one tropical storm. Joe kept me informed about when work would stop, and why, and when it would resume again. His crew made a special trip to my house to seal holes before the tropical storm arrived. There were no surprises. Once installed, the system required a little fine tuning. His crew was on it immediately, and the result was perfect. Joe's team finished the job ON BUDGET and with NO TIME WASTED. I am extremely happy with the results.
