Went into antebellum, institutional, tasteless office ~ imagine a cheap motel. I have 3 maxillary implant healing caps that were tightened with a special rachet. ...Impossible to get rotation with the driver I have. I need the screws to simply turn a quarter of a turn/loosen. That's it. Didn't even need to be seated; hell, give me the rachet, I'd do it; 5 minutes I'm gone. 1200 pesos!!! That's less than one revolution all healing caps TOTAL. In passing he brusquely implied "Take it or leave it, and see you 'round." Think not! What ever happened to "professional courtesy," or just courtesy? I definitely would reccomend Dr. Angel Gomez for excellent dental care - he was extremely hard working and transformed my mouth to where I am no longer afraid to smile too big. He was very good at keeping the pain level so low I didn't even need tylenol after any of the appointments - he did major work in record time with minimal appointments. His english is excellent and he is a great human being, I regard him as a friend now. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Angel Gomez. He and his competent staff rebuilt my teeth (which were a disaster) over a nine month period. His wife Maria specializes in root canals. I experienced no pain and Dr. Gomez's English was excellent. Both Dr. Gomez and Maria where gentle and it was one of the best dental experiences of 70 plus years of dental work. He explained each step along the way and worked with me on the cost and payment method. The work proceeded in a professional manner at his clean and well equiped office. More than a year later, I've had no problems, pain or regrets. As a Oaxacan Ex-pat, I've come to understand the importance of choosing a University of Michigan graduate as my dentist. I believe Mexico has a policy in their public higher education system that fails no students, thus raising the overall standard of the country's workforce. So be aware. I recommend Dr. Angel Gomez. Very nice Doctor and staff. Met he and his staff 2-3 years ago and have been going back ever since. Although he only accepts Mexican Pesos, it is very worth your trip to this quaint historic city. I've been in Dr. Gomez's office as early as 8AM and have been in his office as late at 9PM. This Doctor TOTALLY caters to the needs of his patients. What I like about this office is that you can see him one day, and by the following evening, you're walking out with your new crown(s). Where in the United States can you get that kind of service? Unheard of! So for good quality and professional work, make your next dental trip to Oaxaca. Normally I do not publish negative reviews of professional services, but in this case I am obliged to inform other non-Mexican clients about the exorbitant business practices of Dr. Angel Gomez. Dr. Gomez markets to English-speaking clients through his website, and charges high-end prices that no Oaxaqueno would ever pay. 18,000 pesos for a crown is three times what it normally costs here in Mexico. He only accepts cash. Paying in pesos raises the cost for foreigners, due to exchange mark-ups, taxes and commission. It cost me 1,080.00 dollars, although he estimated the price at 900.00 dollars. He insists on receiving cash as you go for each part of a crown fixture. I sent him professional digital photos of my implant, yet he charged 500 pesos just to take a look, and did not respond to my written request for a quote. After taking the impressions, he asked for a 50% down payment, and did not inform me in advance of that requirement. I needed to make an extra trip to the congested center of town to pay 9,000 pesos and I do not like to carry large amounts of cash. Since he markets to foreigners and sets higher prices, he should make it convenient for them to make one payment with their credit card; that is if you want to pay an inflated price. I visited Dr. Angel Gomez' dental practice in Oaxaca City for a crown replacement in December 2018 and could not be happier with my experience! Not only did Dr. Gomez provide this service for a third of the $1200+ dental estimate which I received in the US but my crown fits perfectly and looks beautiful! Both a prosthodontist and a periodontist, Dr. Gomez is trained and accomplished in multiple specialty areas and was meticulous in performing his work. He speaks fluent English and was endlessly kind and responsive to my needs and to the needs of my travelling companion in terms of scheduling our appointments. Communication from Dr. Gomez prior to our visit was exceptional. He even directed us to a hotel which was a block from his practice. All by itself, Oaxaca is a beautiful, vibrant city which is a wonderful vacation destination. Combining dental work with a visit to Oaxaca was a great decision! read more

My wife and I have had a variety of dental work done by Dr. Gomez: cleanings, fillings, and crowns. He is as competent as any dentist we have had back in the US. He charges about a third of what we are used to in the Boston area. His English is excellent and he does not try to up-sell or push unnecessary work on you. I definitely don't recommend Angel Gomez (the dentist). I went there because I was concerned about a mouth infection. The guy barely treated me, barely considered any symptoms or what I was saying. I got a cleaning done and I've never had such a fast non-thorough cleaning. He was sarcastic and dismissive of anything I said. Then he tried to charge me extra for something he didn't say he'd charge me for. 700 for a bad cleaning and bad customer service. I definitely walked away feeling like I need to go next week to another dentist for another cleaning. But he did speak good English. read more

In December, during my dental checkup in Chicago, I was told I needed two crowns and quoted approximately $1000 for each crown. My husband, coincidentally, had just been informed he needed a crown from his dentist! As we were planning to travel to Oaxaca City for several weeks in January, I went online to see if it might be possible to have the work done while we were there. I am very happy to report I found Dr. Angel's Gomez's website, and set up appointments for both my husband I to have the work done with Dr. Gomez. It was important to me that the doctor speak English, and as Dr. G attended U of Michigan dental school, language was not an issue. Additionally, his office has a lab on the premises. As to his work ~ couldn't be happier. After a few appointments, all was done gently and with great care. Dr. G and his staff are exceptionally pleasant, and his office is located just a few blocks south of the Zocalo on Bustamante. All in all a great experience. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Gomez did a couple of implants for me. He is the only dentist to remark on my upper arch leading to overlapping front teeth. I've had several failed implants. Dr. Gomez makes teeth by hand. Not by computer. It's an art form. My prior implants were "piano keys." His staff is excellent. He crafted a night guard for me that is not porous like the one I had made in PDX. The one from Portland was a material that you warm up under hot water which tasted terrible after several hours. The night guard is clean and fits perfectly. All my dental work had been affordable, being less than half of prices in the USA. I am sure Dr. Gomez and his staff provide better dental work than any dentist in Oregon. read more
