People characterize them as huge, nasty signs plastered all over everything. In truth, there are three small signs amid the memorabilia and photos and sports stuff festooning the walls, basically one saying that they won't serve cheese on seafood pastas, that the pastas are portioned per person, so there's no splitting one (you can share multiple pastas, but each person does have to order one), which I understand from a financial standpoint, and basically a no substitutions policy. Not anything all that out there, and none of the signs seemed nasty or offensive. Overall... hmm... on a pure ambiance and enjoyment basis, I wouldn't hesitate to go back. It's one of the more traditional Italian spots in town in many ways, and it's the kind of place I like to just go hang out - I mean, we spent nearly 2-1/2 hours there just chatting and enjoying. And, I liked Mauro quite a bit, he reminds me of a lot of restaurant friends in Italy, and some in New York. The food is good, even very good, but not exceptional, and I wouldn't mind, given that the pastas are the main courses, if there was more of it. I do fall into the camp of wishing I had more say in what I get - for example, I often like to drizzle a little good olive oil and grind some pepper over my pastas, but those were whisked away after the antipasto plate and weren't an option. And I'm sure there are people who prefer a little more salt, or more cheese, while I'd like less (interesting that most of my Argentine friends complain that there's not enough cheese on the dishes - they do love their cheese here). But I also understand the impetus to serve things "his way", after all, "my way" is pretty much the way Casa SaltShaker operates (though I'm a bit more flexible if people ask in advance, and have no problem with it if someone wants salt, pepper, or other condiments, as long as we have them). Overall, recommended.

Upon doing some research and asking around, this fee is for the bread and other miscellaneous items that make no sense. Is this even legal? Why is this not posted? Ambiance is nice, quiet and relaxing though. I would probably be back if they were more up front from the start. Regarding the service, it was good for the most part. Upon arrival we were asked if we had a reservation and even though we didn't we got a table right away. The waiter though, was not attentive at all. He took forever to take our order, and then couldn't get his attention to get us our check. He seemed irritated and just made it very uncomfortable. I was having dinner with my fiancée so I tried to play it cool. Otherwise O would have asked for his manager.

Italian theme restaurant with an obvious focus on pasta dishes…read more I've to admit they are quite successful at it, food is good , great service, nice decor, nothing wrong to point out. They seem to run as a well oiled machine. However, I think it's a bit expensive for what it is, at the end of the day is pasta. Solid but nothing espectacular. I guess is a safe bet for a family get together which is mostly what you see in every table PS: Always famous argentinean Servicio de mesa (which I hate for every restaurant) is 55 per person.

This place is right smack in the middle of Avenida Cabildo. I have seen how this place has changed…read morethrough the years. It used to be a small hole in the wall and in a few years time they have extended in the back and renovated a couple of times. The chairs are more comfortable (in the back dining area) now. Food can be quite inconsistent at times. But generally, it is reliable and good. Fresh pasta is always good. And they have "light" menu options, meaning less fat and a healthier choice than regular ones on the main menu. I ordered the thin spinach spaghetti with (no meat) red sauce, delightfully good. Raviolis here are also very good. They serve bread (they have wheat bread included with the regular white rolls) in a petite bread bowl. Service can be erratic at times, but still good. I like their choices of desserts (flan, dulce de leche, etc.) and coffee are always good here. I recommend the almendrado. Since it is within the radius of schools in the area, it can get pretty busy and crowded during regular lunch hours. Again, in Buenos Aires, it is advisable to come to most frequented restaurants (popular places) early. When in the Avenida Cabildo area, check this place out. A quick lunch here might just hit the spot and you'll find yourself enjoying a nice pasta dish for lunch. Why four stars? If you sit in the back dining area, they tend to overlook you in terms of service. And waiting for your bill can be a long wait there. The tables in the front dining area are closely set together that elbow room can be risky for fellow dinner and servers with trays, at times.
