Description: Dover College is a co-educational independent boarding school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years old and a day school for pupils aged 3 to 18, located in the south east of England. Situated in East Kent between London and Paris, the College is 60 miles east of London Gatwick airport, 66 minutes to London, St Pancras by fast train to Priory station and easily accessible from the South East of England. There are four main sections of this private school: Early Years (ages 3-5) Infant and Junior School (ages 5 - 11) Senior School (ages 11 to 16) Sixth Form (ages 16 to 18)

History

Established in 1871.

Dover College was founded by local businessmen who considered that it would be beneficial for the town to have its own public school. The College is sited in the grounds of the 12th Century Benedictine Priory. It initially was a boys only school from ages 13 to 18 and started taking girls from 1975. Over the years the school lowered the starting ages so that today children can join from the age of three. One of the characteristics of Dover College is its truly international mix. A NATO initiative in 1957 encouraged pupils from all over the world to come to Dover College for a year. Today, there are over 30 different nationalities represented and everyone is fully integrated within the school. Dover College has a comprehensive intake and is very good at helping its pupils achieve more than their potential suggested on entry to the school.

We're proud of being a family school where pupils are known individually. Our community spirit is central to this; we have a large number of families who live on site and their warmth of welcome and inclusivity encourages a home from home for boarders and day pupils alike. The highly trained and motivated staff are focussed on the needs of the individual child. The Senior School is staffed by superb teachers who consistently deliver excellent results in the classroom, placing an emphasis on academic rigour alongside developing a love of learning.
