The founder of Doughnut Plant is from my hometown in North Carolina and I've been an enthusiastic customer from about 20 years now. It's been a pleasure to watch them grow and thrive. But as they've gotten more popular (and expensive), it doesn't seem like anybody cares about customer experience anymore. I'd been using the DP app for about 10 years and this morning, after running 7 miles (plus abstaining from bread products for 8 days for Passover), I decided to treat myself to a donut. When I ordered it and tried to pay with the app, the server said, "We stopped using that. An email went out in January." And she was so rude and dismissive and I was on such low blood sugar that I changed my mind on the spot. The server immediately turned the person behind me in line and offered them the donut I'd ordered for free. When I turned around to give a Larry David look at what had transpired, she said, "Have a good day" in that inflection that really means, "Go F- yourself." Again, they have enough customers I know they don't care about losing one, even one who's been there since Day 1. But man, a little kindness to go along with expensive doughnuts goes a long way with me. It's too bad DP doesn't value that anymore. read more

We placed an order for the Menorah donut that cost $55. So last night after dinner we put out the "donut" along with outer cakes. Once we started to cut the donut, we discovered that there was little to no jelly inside. I will say beyond being disappointed, we were ripped off. never again!!! read more

I'm shocked to realize I never actually reviewed this place, even though it is hands down my very favorite doughnut shop in the city!... or in all cities! I love all of their varieties of filled doughnuts, especially the square ones: toasted coconut & cream, PB & banana cream, and PB & Jam. They are always moist and soft and fluffy, with plenty of filling and a slight crunch on the outside. I always tell myself I will try the other varieties next time I'm in, but I keep getting those same doughnuts because they are so delicious! The pricing is consistent with NYC pricing, but the quality is so good it's totally worth it. The staff has always been friendly in my experience, and I've never had trouble finding a seat, even though there aren't that many. It's my go to place in Brooklyn whenever I feel like having something sweet with coffee. read more

This is such a great place to treat myself to. It's one of those places that I have to stop by whenever I'm driving by. I at least have to get one. My favorite is the Creme Brûlée. it has they perfect crunch with vanilla filling in the middle yum! Most of the time when I get there at about 2 hrs from closing, it's always sold out whaaaaa! But I'm always up for trying a new doughnuts. On the last visit I bought my fave along with the Marcona Almond which was so delicious and the Pistachio cake doughnut. I'm such a nutty girl! Lmaoo . FANTASTIC!!!! I have been looking forward to trying this spot out! We ordered a few and did a mini taste test at work. We absolutely loved all of them. They all taste fresh and its nice to try different flavors. The brooklyn blackout was so good and the deep chocolate flavor is a chocoholics dream! Got 2 sourdoughnuts delivered - pumpkin and apple cardamom. Both doughnuts are on the sweeter side; apple cardamom almost too sweet (needing a coffee with it). because of the sugariness, i wouldn't finish a whole doughnut by myself. apple cardamom had a more intense flavor right off the bat, but the pumpkin is more subtle, with a flavor that builds as you keep eating. Doughnut Plant is one of my favorite doughnut spots in NYC, and recently I stopped by the Prospect Heights location for the first time. Conveniently located on Flatbush not far from the Barclays Center or Prospect Park, the shop was pretty crowded, but the line moved quickly and the staff was friendly. There was a small amount of seating inside and a long bench outside, but the location felt more cramped than other locations (like Chelsea, the one I've frequented most). They were unfortunately sold out of some of the doughnuts by the time we went in the early afternoon, but we were still able to get a couple of the seasonal ones - an apple cinnamon cake doughnut and a pumpkin with spiced pepitas yeast doughnut, both of which were excellent. The yeast doughnuts from Doughnut Plant are among my favorites, as they have just the right amount of chewiness, and both of these were perfect for a nice fall day. Get in my Belly Dough-NUT My husband and I along with our boys were hanging in BK and while walking we stumbled upon this place. I pulled it up on Yelp to see if we should entertain and the reviews made us definitely go in. Let me start by saying the doughnuts were so good. BONUS: They have Vegan donuts We ordered the Cashew Orange Blossom both the cake donut and the yeast version. We also had the BlueBerry minis. There were others we wanted to try but they were sold out of almost everything by the time we came which was around 7:30pm on a Sunday. The vibe, seating, music and lighting of the joint is pretty legit. We met some cool people as the tables allow you to get to know the person(s) at the next table. We did almost have an issue, we ordered and sat and at least 4 people who ordered after us were called up for their donuts and we hadn't been called. I approached to inquire and they quickly apologized as they cleared our order by mistake and luckily hasn't sold out of the items we ordered. I came here on a Wednesday evening to pick up a Too Good To Go order. They do a lot of these, so have an efficient system for it. All the bags are on the side of the counter. Swipe the app for the lady and go pick up your pre-bundled bag. I got 5 chocolate doughnuts. The donuts here are always terrific and the service is always great. Whether it's the creme brûlée, dulce de leche, or seasonal flavor like pumpkin, cranberry, or anything else, I've never been disappointed with one of the donuts here. Do yourself a favor and buy $30 worth of doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts. You'll probably be happier. They are doughnuts so they aren't all that bad. But for the cost, they should be better, and fresher. These doughnuts are underwhelming. We got coconut, creme brulee, chocolate sprinkle and Brooklyn Blackout. So a nice assortment. I'm not a huge coconut fan but that was clearly the best, and freshest. Creme brulee's top was a little too caramelized (aka burnt). The flavors are just a little too muted. And presentation is meh. Doughnut Plant is quite possibly the best donut chain in NYC. If I'm ever getting donuts, it HAS to be from Doughnut Plant. They offer so many different kinds of donuts, flavors, and options suitable for people with dietary restrictions as well! Doughnut Plant always has monthly specials so their "special menu" always alternates. I tried their yeast, cake, and filled squares. The yeast is more like a traditional donut, but they make it really soft and packed with flavor. The cake donuts are exactly what it sounds like - cake! It's a thicker donut texture and isn't exactly cake, but it has a similar texture to cake. The filled squares are my favorite! Rather than classic circle filled donut that can have inconsistent filling spread, the square donut shape ensures that you get a taste of filling within each bite! I usually order: coconut creme square donut, carrot cake donut, and vanilla bean donut. So good! While waiting for my 30 minute lunch queue at 5ive Spice, my friends and I decided to calm our roaring bellies at Doughnut plant, which is only a block away. This place is really anesthetically pleasing! They have painted donuts on their indoor seats and they also have outdoor benches for the warmer days. The temperature here is pretty toasty (a bit too toasty), as a result of their pumping ovens. There are really interesting flavors here, from Asian-inspired flavors such as Black Sesame and Yuzu to more traditional flavors such as Vanilla Bean and Tres Leches. My friends and I decided to split a Black Sesame donut and we all thought it was mediocre. The Black Sesame flavor was not as apparent as we had hoped and it was definitely way too sweet for our liking. Overall, it just tasted like a VERY sugary donut. I definitely would have had trouble finishing this donut by myself. As this place has a wide variety of flavors and such a cute aesthetic, I can see myself coming back to try another flavor. However, the Black Sesame just didn't do it for me and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone hoping to encounter black sesame's strong, earthy flavor. read more

This doughnut shop stands tall and erect nestled between Park Slop & Prospect Heights. It smells absolutely delicious walking past after getting on the Bergen Street subway station. After walking past a few times, I finally broke down and went inside. They have so many options to choose from, the first time I've seen savory doughnuts offered in the menu. After quickly looking over their options, I decided on the peanut butter and banana "Jam Stuffed" donut. Anytime I'm in BK I try to stop here. I've been here numerous times and have not been disappointed once! Atmosphere: it's pretty fun coming into this place. First of all, the architecture of the building is very abstract. When you walk in you'll start drooling. You can sometimes catch them making a new batch of doughnuts, too! Very interesting to see. Delicious donuts albeit pricey. A donut and coffee is well over $5 so I don't visit everyday. Not to mention it'll hurt my waistline on top of my wallet if I did come everyday, so we can't have that. My only major gripe about this place is their location. There's no parking anywhere!! I mean aesthetically speaking, cute building and all, but inconvenient for those of us that drive. There's plenty of options for donuts and coffees. Not that much seating but the shape of the building probably attributes to the not so practical interior arrangement. Very bright inside, hip decor and just overall really good vibes and good eats. I've had no problem with the servers, staff has always been nice and I always leave a tip if I can. Love the chain. Was really happy that I can stay in my neighborhood and not go to Williamsburg or the city. Recently, the experience wasn't what I expected. Swung in here for breakfast donuts for my best friend and I. I explained to the guy helping me that I'd never been there before and he was so friendly in explaining the different donuts and offering me some favorites. I got 4 donuts to split with my friend. Pistachio sourdough (vegan) was amazing. I had never had a sourdough donut but the texture was super enjoyable. The creme brûlée donut was recommended to me, and I'm glad we tried it. It did taste a little more "burnt" than I prefer my creme brûlée but it's a really cool concept for a donut. The vanilla and blackberry jam was my favorite. It was sweet and tangy and honestly perfect. The pumpkin with pepitas was a great fall flavor choice and the pepitas gave great texture. HOLY CRAP. Why haven't I gone here before !?! I've just been eating sad sad DD donuts until I've discovered this GEM!!! I love this place, customer service is amazing the interior is adorable clean and most importantly they have a huge selection of donuts. Vegan and vegetarian included ! I got the chocolate donut and the vanilla bean one. Both were amazing!! So so fluffy and soft inside. Not too sweet or soggy either ! The donut had a perfect bite, nice and chewy as well! As someone who doesn't like donuts, this place is enough to convert me. My daughter is a donut enthusiast, so this had to be one of our stops during our trip. The cute corner flatiron-esque building drew us in, and it did not disappoint. My daughter got the vanilla bean, which was as big as her head.
