Out of all the pizza chains in all the world... this one is my favorite. For that matter, there aren't that many independent pizza joints that are better either. While I'm NOT a fan of buffets in ANY of their myriad forms, theirs is the ONLY pizza buffet that isn't a gross blasphemy to the pizza gods. Whenever I've ordered an individual pizza here it's always been fresh and good too. The sauce is flavorful, the crust is good and the proportion of cheese to the other toppings is always just about right. Add to that the quality of the toppings seems to be far better than most I've run across in the pizza world. I also really enjoy their garlic spinach Stromboli, if you like garlic, if you like spinach, and who doesn't like cheese? I feel certain you'll like this too. While the Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli seems to be more popular, I didn't find it as flavorful as the spinach one. Where else can I drink a quality beer (this time Live Oak Hefeweizen) and indulge my gluttony with 13 slices of pizza and 6 slices of desert pizza for about $10? read more

The pizza is pretty good but the stromboli is amazing and what keeps me coming back. The pepperoni roll is decent but it is lacking a pasta which would make my 5 year old and 2 old enjoy it more like other pizza buffets we have had. Normally we are fans of Double Dave's. Love the pizza rolls and Margharita pizza. Last week we had a pepperoni and olive pizza that was way overcooked. It went in the trash. Friday night (8/24/18), we ordered 12 pizza rolls with ranch and a medium Margharita. We used "loyalty points" for 6 free rolls. Wait time for delivery was quoted at 45min-1 hour. After waiting an hour and 45 minutes, we got a large cheese pizza and 6 pizza rolls with marinara. *******Update 8/25/18. I spoke to very nice manager named Bree. They were flooded with orders last night. Bree was very apologetic and refunded our order. We will be ordering again soon! read more

Be careful when ordering from this place they say that there large pizza is a 15" and the medium is a 12". I ordered two medium thin crust pizzas and one large deep dish pizza. When I received them they were all 12" pizzas. no where on there menu did it state that the deep dish ran a size smaller so for the extra money I paid for a large I got the same as a medium. When I asked about this I was told this was just the way it is. Not happy with double Dave's and will choose a pizza place that does not lie and do the bait and switch next time. Double Dave's is a great place to grab a pizza lunch for kids and adults. The people who run this restaurant are very friendly and will be glad to make a pizza of your choice for the buffet. This is very important to us since I have a couple of little vegetarians. I know this is a chain in Texas but it doesn't feel corporate to me. Try the philly cheese steak rolls. They are kind of like a stromboli with philly cheese in them. They are a little salty but I bet you can't eat just one slice. The pepperoni rolls are also very popular. A lot of places with a pizza buffet are pretty stingy with what they put on their pizzas. Double Dave's will load up the pizzas on the buffet with multiple meats and vegetables. They don't just stick to thin pizza either but I like that the best. You won't find exotic combinations like a California Pizza Kitchen or Extreme Pizza here. You'll just have solid, good pizza choices on a buffet that is always being refreshed with new pizzas. They have a decent salad for a pizza place as well. They also have beers on tap and a lot of choices for bottled beers. It seems like they had Fat Tire, Pyramid, Sierra Pale Ale, and one other on draft. You get a soda with free refills with the buffet so that's what I get. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Double Daves. During high school, I worked at a pet store next door to a Double Dave's in Northwest Austin. We would clean the manager's fish tank, he would give us pizza. That was a sweet deal. However, not so relevant to today's experience. But before we get to today, my more recent experiences with Double Dave's pizza were less than stellar. When said location moved to a new spot in NW Austin, I tried that one out and our entire party got sick. I nearly swore them off. Today, the wife and I craved a carb-coma. Pizza seemed like a good option. For the money, I actually don't love their pizza. However, there is nothing like their pepperoni rolls anywhere in the universe. When I want amazing pizza, I'd literally let someone pistol whip me in the baby maker to get my hands on some pepperoni rolls. I've really cut down pizza intake over the years, so on the lunch buffet, a nice balance to feel better about myself is the hefty salad bar. There's a lot of great, fresh choices. The Round Rock location we went to (my second visit to this location in as many years) was great. I seem to recall it was laid out differently. They must have remodeled. Lots of variety on the buffet. The pepperoni rolls did not disappoint. There are 2 reasons I would not give this place 5 stars today: 1. The booths. I don't know who thinks a human body was intended to sit at that angle. Maybe they were designed to get people to leave sooner and not eat so much from the buffet? 2. Beer selection. Nothing goes with pizza like awesome beer. And awesome beer = craft beer. In Austin (or the Austin area) there's really no excuse to have a poor beer selection. If you're going to serve beer, do it right please. The value for me isn't really there on the a la carte pricing, but the buffet runs daily from 11-2. It's worth every penny. read more

Double Dave's Online ordering system took my order for the Round Rock location and charged my credit card. Waited an hour for our pizza. When I tried to call to find out the status of our order there was no answer. I logged back into my account and it then said the store was closed! What the heck. Update your dang website DD to show the location has closed and for God's sake don't keep taking people's orders !! Turns out they weren't closed. Just not accepting online orders! For some reason, Double Daves is one of those restaurants that I need to visit when I find myself in the Austin area... Maybe it's the novelty of a pizza buffet which we don't have in the Boston area.. The price is very reasonable($7 pp) and includes a cup for soda or fresh-brewed iced tea with unlimited refills! There are three standout items on the buffet table: Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Pepperoni Rolls and the SHINING STAR; the steak and cheese stromboli. Mmmmmm I walked a couple of miles up IH-35 to and from Double Dave's during a business trip to Round Rock just to get one last taste of that stromboli. With all of this said, the pizza itself isn't the best around by any means, but the people working here are so friendly and the experience of gorging oneself on unlimited dough, meat and cheese, regardless of quality, is something I will look forward to every time I visit Austin. In summary: Order in/out anything except Steak and Cheese Stromboli? Probably not. Hit 'em up for some cheap lunch buffet once in a while? Sure! read more

New to Round Rock and Texas, I was Yelping pizza places around my community that had great flavors, prices, customer service, and fast delivery. I decided to take a chance on DoubleDave's Pizzaworks. I ordered a half pep/cheese medium pizza for delivery. On a Friday afternoon around 4pm, it came within 30-35 min. upon ordering online. The driver called me to confirm my address, which hardly ever happens when ordering delivery service. The delivery man was friendly and brought me a hot pizza to eat! Although it's my first pizza I've eaten in Round Rock, I can tell you it was AMAZING! The pizza was made with plenty of herb sauce, cheese and pepperoni, great crust, and not burned at all! Brought the family in for the lunch buffet. Not bad at all, the pizza was kept hot and the buffet was kept full. The variety and the types of crusts was varied. The flavor was on par from what you would expect from a pizza buffet, better than others but by no means something to write home about. The pizza rolls were a little dry this time around and they were not refreshed the whole time we were there. Also the dessert pies were cold and not replaced. I have had good experiences when dining in at Double Dave's. about a year ago, I also had good experiences with their delivery services. From then until now, I have on several occasions tried to use this service, but I am really put out with their unwillingness to improve this part of there business. It is my opinion that they should get out of the delivery business and stick to dine in and pick up only. Went here with my boyfriend and his family because it was one of their favorite pizza joints- for whatever reason I have no idea. The pizza was never stocked, and what was stocked was jalapeño chicken and a bunch other "unpopular" kinds. Now this gets me thinking that the employees are just making food for themselves because I had to ask twice for just plain ol' Jane pepperoni. So after the pizza was out, I grabbed three slices. Big mistake. This is the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. So I choked the three slices down, to be courteous, and moved onto salad. The salad itself was old. It was wilted, orange at the sides, and over all sour tasting. So my last resort was the dessert. Not bad. But it shouldn't be the best tasting thing here. My suggestion is to keep the salad switched every four hours like you're supposed to- flip it so the old is on top. Keep pepperoni stocked in twos, and by requests make a jalapeño anything. Just finished eating pizza and I would give less than one star if at all possible. First, the price for four people was as much as a steak at a steak house. The buffet was almost empty. Most of all, the gimmick of a free first beer was deceiving. You pay for a soda, but you receive only one or the other, a beer or a soda. When I asked for a cup I was refused one since I had a beer. If the beer is free why did I pay for a soda I couldn't drink. The price for four buffets and sodas was the same as four buffets and 3 sodas and a beer. So I paid for the beer! I have given them chance after chance, eating burnt pizza, paying for salads forgotten from my delivery order and never getting some orders due to online ordering issues. I'm done. Ordering pizza delivered from this location of Double Dave's is like playing the lottery. You have a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 chance of them getting your order right. Eating in the restaurant is fine- the pizza is fine and the pepperoni rolls are good. But don't ever order delivery from these people!! If you are eating pizza out, there are much better places to go, such as Brooklyn Heights or Fire and Ice. Final review? Eating at the restaurant is fine, but nothing special. Besides the pizza and pizza rolls being great, the salad bar is excellent too! Everything is always really fresh and even the lettuce is top quality. Don't ya' hate it when salad bar lettuce has too much of that bitter, white core part in it? Double Dave's must take some pride in their produce, there is no lettuce core or green tomatoes here! Here is what keeps this location from a 5 star rating... It is almost always uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. Winter, or summer, no matter. Half the time It feels better outside than inside. Anytime I have felt a bit warm in there, the thermostat by the soda dispenser shows a balmy 78 or 79 degrees. Yuck! Here is an idea... When a customer tells you it is hot in there, don't just agree with them. Maybe try adjusting the thermostat somewhere below "lukewarm", or turn on the ceiling fans! Pretty bad when I have to visit the restroom to cool off. Seriously, visit the restrooms and feel how pleasant the temp in there is. read more

I've eaten the pizza buffet here several times, and I've bought pizzas for my family since they're close. It is marginally better pizza than major chains. Don't bother with the chicken wings; they are slimy and gross - quite possibly Tyson's frozen wings. Knocking off one star just because of the gross wings. read more
