I saw a fabulous La Traviata done with modern staging, which worked perfectly. The theatre is large and the seats are famously plush and comfortable at all price levels. The best thing for young people under the age of 26 is the Orfeo card. Designed to encourage a new demographic group to the theatre, the card for a small annual fee gives you big discounts and early booking priority, which is handy as many productions are rapid sell-outs.

Just think of all the factors that must fall into place - the band's tour dates, availability of tickets, and proximity to the venue. It's pretty much the ultimate trifecta of coincidence. As it turns out, I am that lucky person - someone who was gifted a Hot Chip ticket to a sold-out Saturday night show in Brussels! Because I wanted to live like a local, I took the metro instead of a cab. And then walked. And walked some more. Gosh, Belgian maps are difficult to read. Of course, I found it. Ancienne Belgique is this beautiful, contemporary music venue that feels spacious with its soaring ceilings but in actuality, the capacity makes it quite intimate. In fact, I didn't think I'd have a shot at running into some new friends who were also going to the show but alas, I found them by the first bar I set my thirsty sights on. Luck strikes yet again! The sound quality is superb. If you prefer to drink while watching your favorite band take the stage (yes!), then angle for a space on the floor near one of the doors. That's how the savvy Belgian boys do it anyway, and I was right there to capitalize. If you'd rather take a seat, there's 'romantic' seating in the back and then there's also two levels of terrace. The bars work on a token system so make sure to head there first. And if you have a coat or anything else you'd prefer to dump during the show, head downstairs and grab a locker for €1. So convenient! Hopefully sooner than later, I'll be back.

There are permanent expositions some of them are free of charge, some are temporary, and theyhave a fee. Each type has a different entrance, which absolves you from having to stand in line too long. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. I arrived at a moment where the expo was completely empty so I had the room to myself which was great. This is a place where art fanatics will have a blast as the Beursshouwburg brings people together for events, concerts and much much more. Definitely worth the visit, for whichever occasion you prefer. They also have a café for drinks after the shows: they have get togethers there as well, last time I was there there was a mini concert going on.

They have storage lockers at the back which you pay 50 cents for, but you get the money back when you unlock it. Also really like the convenient location - super easy to here from all parts of Brussels. Can't wait to go back here for another event.

Once served as the only permanent circus in Belgium, as well as nautical shows and even a cinema, it's now mainly used for live music shows. The venue is comprised of 3 levels, Upper concourse, Lower concourse, and Floor. Tickets were sold as general admission with a designated level but never saw anyone enforcing any of the seating. Don't get any funny ideas, haha, I only mention this because it's fascinating how the venue pretty much runs on the honor system, a system that would never work here in America. The floor would be saturated with upper level ticket holders at the Forum or Madison Square Garden, just saying. Another fascinating system is the way you buy beer. They have a token system in place that requires 1 or 2 tokens per beer, depending on the beer which makes for a faster transaction and shorter wait time. Well done.
