You walk in and the place has a clean appearance. Shortly after looking through their limited selection you will find that most if not all of their fabrics are over priced. However, what I was absolutely unimpressed with was the customer service. The staff was rude, and more than once I was pushed aside both figuratively and literally with out so much as an excuse me or pardon me. Word of advice come looking fancy, and with your wallet out because even if the place is empty they will not give you the time of day or worse. read more

Dos Rios is a valley institution. I remember coming here in high school to look for prom dress material, in college to look for duvet material, and now to look for material for a dress for my mom for my bro's wedding. It's got every kind of material you can think of. Silks and satins and cottons and sequins at all prices. And the service is swoon worthy. People assisting your every need (no hobby lobby slagoff here) although usually in spanish so make sure you find the guy who speaks english or take a translator. We walked out with four potential samples... and paid $2.11. If you need semi-fancy fabric, grab your spanish speaking buddy and indulge your every material (pun intended) whim. read more

This is the first place I shop for Fabric in the Rio Grande Valley. I have found such wonderful bargains!!!! The fabric is always top of the line. The service is excellent. And the prices are FABULOUS! I have never been disappointed. I've shopped there for 20+ years. I do tons of décor work, both personal and for my business. When I start a new project, this is the best place to start in McAllen. Lazaro (the owner/manager) is so personable and helpful. It's always a pleasure to go. RUDE . . . RUDE . . . RUDE . . . I go in and I take the initiative to go up to a sales clerk because no one approached me to assist me on the selection of fabric. OMG it was as if I was a bother to her because she had to "help" me. Her attitude was very stand-offish and she was very discourteous. I will go to La Campana on 16th Street (McAllen, TX) next time I need to purchase sewing items. I will NEVER return! read more
