I am writing this review on take out orders only. The first thing is the 32 dollar charge, Way overpriced for the quality of food we received. One would think that a Mexican restaurant with Mexicans cooking the food would know how to prepare said food. The beef had no flavor to it. There were no tomatoes, cheese, or lettuce for tacos we ordered. The taco salad was the worst we ever had. It had not lettuce, cheese, or tomatoes on it. Additionally, the salad was filled with about one-third of the shell. The guacamole was sorry and it was supposed to be fresh. Before the Chines Virus. we dined in and the food was fine. We had dinner here on Thursday night because a couple of the other highly rated Mexican restaurants were closed for some reason unknown to us. It was fairly busy. The staff was very friendly and the shrimp fajitas were excellent. I was disappointed many patrons came in with no face mask even thought there front door was posted with signs mandating the wearing of them. Food here is pretty good for NC. But I really wish they would clean the menus. That's why a 2 rating. Feel like you need to wash your hands after you touch the menus because there so sticky and gooey. Wish you got what the menu says. This is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to dine at. My fiancé and I decided to stop in and try out a new Mexican place since Pancho Villa is a bit of a drive from our place, we decided on Dos Amigos. We were really impressed at the prices. Very good and hearty meals under $7. The food came out and looked spectacular. The wait time was perfect also. They have amazing salsa and keep the chips coming at a steady pace. The service was great also. Drinks filled every time the last drop left the drink. And the manager always seems on top of things and smiles every time you come in and makes sure to say goodbye. Updated Review: We have been back multiple times since we our first visit in July. It appears that our 1st visit had to just had been a fluke. All our visits afterward were very well done. I have bumped the review from 3 stars to 4 (wishing I could be more detailed 4.25). The food has been good every visit. The service has been great (except for the first time.) Our drinks have been kept topped off, the servers have been very attentive and they all have had good personalities. It's surprises like these that I do love to speak about. My husband and I decided to try on a whim last Wednesday. I have tried the one in Boone, and truthfully, was not a cheerleader. We decided to try, and happy to say, I really enjoyed the dinner this time. The decor was nice, newly done, and very relaxing. We got our drinks promptly and the service was very good. My husband got his favorite style "street tacos"as he says or Tacos Carbon, just simple, but very fresh, and good quality beef, and he loved the rice.It reminds him of this great hole in the wall style family restaurant in Texas. I got the rib eye, but decided to try corn tortillas, instead of the flour. A great twist, and wonderful flavor. The rib eye was cooked nicely, not overcooked, nor was it all grisley, bleh. All I said in the previous review stands, but I have found there are a number of items, especially on the specialties portion of the menu, that are much more flavorful, spicy and authentic-tasting than the mainstream items on the menu. The California fajitas, for instance, were a big surprise, much more flavorful than ordinary fajitas. Stopped for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Had the pup with us and I was happy they allowed pets on outside patio. Chips with bean dip and salsa. Service was fast and awesome. Giving this place 5 stars! We have NOTHING negative to say. Place is clean- great decor. Server was friendly, attentive and even anticipated our needs. Chips and salsa plus free bean dip were all perfect. I'm dropping a star off my original review of Dos Amigos -- NOT because of their great food & service has deteriorated, but ONLY because they've changed their menu and HIKED THEIR PRICES as many times as the years they've been open. For Mexican food fare in li'l ol' Lenoir, it's gone way beyond what I'd call ridiculously high prices for what you get; one person can now expect to be gouged by a whopping $15-20 bucks for a decent meal and a (non alcoholic) beverage. Most of my friends have spouses and families, which makes dining at Dos Amigos almost cost prohibitive. The same meal was $9 bucks just three years ago, so now I can only afford to go there 1/4th as often as I used to go; several of my friends have almost completely stopped going there as there's plenty of other decent Mexican food places that've been around here for much longer, who haven't gotten as downright greedy like Dos Amigos has... pretty sad to see. read more

I went here last night based on the reviews posted. was brought chips and salsa plus another dip all was very yummy. ordered garlic shrimp which came with rice and avocado salad (lettuce, avocado, and pico de gallo). the dish came with at least a dozen shrimp and nice big chunks of garlic. only complaint is that some of the shrimps needed to be cleaned better but I would go back and try them again read more
