I wish there were a way to rate this company as TERRIBLE. TWENTY MONTHS - nearly two years! - is what it took us to get this headstone for my mother carved and installed. During that time, my experience was exactly like Carol C's (see her review from 6/4/2023), we got nothing but excuses (everything from "there was a misunderstanding with the quarry" to "our engraving machinery has broken down") and constant assurances that the stone would be placed "in the very near future," which it never was. Finally, when I read the reviews here on yelp and elsewhere and learned that there were people who NEVER got their headstone, or their 50% downpayment reimbursed, I spoke with my sister who started calling Tom Mann on a daily basis to demand completion of the order. The stone was finally installed last month (July 2024). Like Carol C, I will be reporting the company to the Better Business Bureau and consulting a lawyer, in my case to find out if there's any way I can put the payment in escrow to assure that he doesn't receive it for twenty months! I am not into punishment, but neither do I believe that behavior like this should be accepted or condoned. Please DO NOT use this company when purchasing a headstone for your loved ones. They have no work ethic, take your money and do not complete the work. Chris has made every excuse in the book for why work is not complete. My family will be calling a lawyer and report this company to the better business bureau. After encountering a monument company where the owner retired, and two that had been sold and ceased all communication, I had a wonderful experience with Chris at Dorsey Memorial. This company was very accommodating with the time line and the design. Lindsay was a great designer. She was in touch immediately by email and sent design options. She was also available by phone and really helped answer the questions I had about what she sent. We were able to further edit the stone design before it was actually carved. The installation was exactly when they said it would be, even when it rained frequently. When the family gathered, they were very happy with the result. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has need of a memorial for their loved ones. read more

This company was great to work with--until the final results. The inscription was being put on the plinth of an old monument made of very durable granite. It came out looking really shabby, all crammed into the space with letters so thin you can hardly read them. They said "We told you you should have put it on the back of the gravestone," as if they had insisted and I had stubbornly refused their advice. That was their excuse, and it was not true at ALL. Many options were discussed, that's all. Then they refused to remove it without charging me an arm and a leg--said they'd have to take out the plinth and send it away. I thought that was very risky for an old monument. And the cost was prohibitive. I have been suffering over how bad it looks for a few years now (one of the names was mine and one my departed daughter.) and I am finally going to have it removed at my own cost. The thing that galls me the most is their total denial about how bad it looks. Even the cemetery manager's opinion is that it is an inferior piece of work. He said it with a sort of smile in his voice, as if he was relieved to hear that I think so, too--as if he might not have wanted to tell me if I thought it was fine. (I just talked to him.) I sort of hate to rate something a company does poorly, but maybe others should know. It WAS not an ordinary job--perhaps you should bear that in mind, maybe not to give them something that is going to take extra care and good judgement. read more

Whatever you do, don't give business to this company. They are pushy, e.g., they try to get you to buy a bigger gravestone and unprofessional, e.g., they threaten to remove a loved one's gravestone and marker over an invoice dispute. There are plenty of other good companies in the area. Oh yes, they actually placed a plaque with their company name on our family gravestone!! I intend to have it removed. read more
