Then master carpenter Erwin Seeger took ownership, restored it, and turned it into a cafe and restaurant decades ago. We enjoyed brunch on Sunday after touring ancestral villages. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. I especially enjoyed the Black Forest cake. While it is tricky to find - it's a 5-10 minute drive from the main town of Lossburg and about 15 miles south of Freudenstadt - the drive through Sternick and the tiny roads of Unterbraendi was scenic and enjoyable. A gorgeous Protestant church located at one end of the market square in Freudenstadt. It was…read morefounded in the 17th century and was heavily damaged during the the war. From 1945 onwards restoration work began and the building standing now is a result of this extensive restoration. It's has simple but elegant interiors keeping in line with Protestant churches around the place.
