Then master carpenter Erwin Seeger took ownership, restored it, and turned it into a cafe and restaurant decades ago. We enjoyed brunch on Sunday after touring ancestral villages. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent. I especially enjoyed the Black Forest cake.
While it is tricky to find - it's a 5-10 minute drive from the main town of Lossburg and about 15 miles south of Freudenstadt - the drive through Sternick and the tiny roads of Unterbraendi was scenic and enjoyable. We hope to return in the future.
