They were "this your dog? Ok, see you when you get back". Nice folks but a completely unprofessional operation with cut rate facility's for the dogs. Standard wire pens attached to caged runs. Her last haircut was atrocious and not what I asked for at all. When I tried to complain about that, the Cindy, the owner told me that my dog bit everybody at her place and that I would have a hard time finding a groomer to work with her. Never once has this place told me that my dog misbehaved at any time. So Cindy is lying through her backside to try to save her business . Now, in the last couple of years, my dog has developed a hatred of a certain color hair in women. And I see that is apparently Cindy the owner that brought this out in her apparently, she has been abusing my dog for the last six years without my knowledge. All the while, feeding me the line that my dog is doing just fine and she she's perfectly behaved. I also talked to another groomer there that Cindy doesn't know I know and she said that is very hard to work with Cindy. That Emma really is a good dog and she's sorry to see her go and that it was all a lie what the owner was saying. After looking at the other reviews here on yelp, I can see that there have been no positive reviews for nearly 7 years for this business. Perhaps we need to talk to the Better Business Bureau about getting them shut down. I don't like animal abuse.

I had looked at a few other places in and around the State College area, and ended up choosing Stone Valley for several reasons. I called and set up a time to check the place out before we decided to board there. The lodge seems pretty new and when we entered the lobby area, I noticed it was clean and well-kept (note: there are many cats on the property; just an FYI!). When we walked through the area where the dogs are kept, I noticed the runs were a decent size, which I liked. There are windows in that area so it is well-lit and spacious. The outdoor areas were also a nice size for the dogs to run around freely and play with other dogs, if you choose. I was looking to help socialize my pup with other dogs, so they paired her up with other puppies her size during outside time. The owner is very thoughtful in making sure to pair up your dog with other dogs that are compatible and well-behaved! The lodge is in a beautiful wooded area about 15-20 minutes from State College. They also board a variety of animals - horses, pigs, cats! The owner is very responsive and thorough in making sure you know what to bring with you. I was really nervous (and sad) about leaving my dog for the first time, but she was great with responding to my calls/emails checking in to see how my dog was doing every few days. They will also give medicine if needed. Our dog has been back 2 additional times since Thanksgiving and she has always done well with transitioning to and from the lodge. She seems to enjoy her time there and has gotten a chance to be around other dogs and animals. The staff and owner are all really nice and you can tell that they really love animals and do a great job caring for them while they are in their care.

They also were very good at calming this Dog Mom down. I was very nervous leaving my sweet girl with them, but I have to say, they were fantastic with her. She was SO Wonderful with her Huge Empathic Heart towards me. I was called early the next morning only to hear he was too Sick and his Organs had been shutting down for a while due to the Negligence of his Vet he'd seen for 3 yrs!! She overdosed him on Prednisone a dangerously strong Steroid!! She gave him Pancreatitis the second day he was on way too high of amount PREDNISONE! I Trusted her! All she kept doing were blood tests! She missed an Infection he had on the first blood test. For two yrs I kept taking him in for Strange weight gain and he couldn't even climb his stairs anymore to get on the bed. I told he was acting Strange and walking Funny. He had mushy feeling shoulders. She told me he had Fat Packs?? Huh? He had Cushing's Disease!! I'm not the only one that had a dog DIE UNDER THEIR CARE! I Wish I had taken Finn to Wolf run Veterinary Hospital from the beginning! Finn was Never Sick so just shots. Loyalsock Veterinary Hospital is Cheaper than other Bets and closer. Their CHEAPER TO PULL YOU IN! Then they Kill your pets because All the Vets there are HORRIBLE!! Dr Pardoe not only Killed Finn she destroyed my Mental Health Stability and I'm still Suffering! Great practice and I've referred many Serious Pet Owners to Dr. Kocher…read more She took very good care of my senior Shih Tzu, Peppi during his advanced years and she listened to what I had to say of his symptoms, and she was very honest and ethical and did diagnostics such as bloodwork and X rays and prescribed heart pills accordingly. She never once tried to take me over in more than the needed diagnostics at all but did state there are additional options such as ultrasound and others if I was open to it which I was not. She never pressured me for more than what was needed to make a solid diagnoses however did let me know other diagnostics were available. She really cared about Peppi and understood he was my family. On two occasions she or Dr. Blizzard 'made time' for me when Peppi needed in same day due to being old and having heart problems which most all very old little doggies get if they live long enough. Dr. Kocher always explained everything of what was going on with him and she explained what happens in very old dogs with congestive heart and heart valve problems. She put the stethoscope right in my ears and had me listen to his heart beat which even I without any medical training could tell was bad but then explained why the valves weren't beating his heart right and after the blood work and x ray came back went over the blood work and showed me the enlargement of his heart on the x ray. She prescribed appropriate medications and her med fees are in line with all the other vets in the centre region and she didn't take me in this area. Her staff is so nice and very intelligent. These people cared about my dog and I was with State College Veterinary hospital for about 5 years as I moved here with my dog Peppi . Peppi had great care and I was treated very, very well. I like a one or two vet practice myself as the vet or vets know my dog and I'm not just a chart for a vet at a large multi vet practice. At a large multi vet practice and they do a great job also but really, I want the same vet or two vets only as I think the benefit to the animal is better in a one or two vet practice. The costs are in line with all other vet practices in the centre region. It's a small two vet practice which is a bonus for me, she isn't afraid to explain anything that's going on in common language, she will, or Dr. Blizzard, if really need be make time for a senior dog needing to be seen same day. I recommend this practice highly. If you are a Serious Pet Owner and care about the health and welfare of your pet this is the place for you.
